I've got Tri, as well as Unite for psp. Havn't played either for AGES but they are pretty awesome. Have yet to ask my dad if he could set up the internet connection on the wii but I don't think he will, meh. Im up to hunting the monster on the pic for the second time ( forgot it's name lol). I have to say it is alot harder to get all the materials for armour and weapons than Unite ( i think it's mainy cause of the pokke farm been a bit more.......unresourceful than in Unite.2011-04-11 05:10:00

OH MY GOD!

In MH Unite I'm HR 3 and I think that's tough!
You must kill Lagiacrus for fun!

I've been on Unite for a year now.
I've only just got Tri, and I'm up to HR 2. :3

I always wondered how that would work.. .

I may get this.

You should.

Other than my selfish reasons

I'm technically still a Noob hunter, so if you get it, we can ravage through the lands hunting monsters together.

It works pretty well, too.

Suprisingly.

underwater fighting is pretty fun, but i think it is so much easier to hunt on the ground.
Dude, there is an awesome beast that is like a combination of Nargacuga and Khezu mixed with a little Gypceros. It is lethal. Took me a while to kill it.
BTW, what weapon are you using? Im on switch axe which is pretty cool

Yeah, I just beat the royal Ludroth under water which was INSANELY fun.

I'm using a great sword, I just made a bone switch axe because it looked cool! and Powerful

Yeah it is. When I first started Tri I was fooling around in the arena getting a hang of the controls and much to my surprise discovered that the switch axe could fire a charge and I toppled the monster I was attacking. I love the sword mode of it, so cool and gets a aura of re. But its hard to get the materials to make a new, stronger switch axe atm so Im like versing the Gigganox with a bone switch axe (i think, i might have the next strongest switch axe). But although fighting in water is fun it got annoying as while versing the Gobul, especially in murky water. Could barely see it and ended up eventually killing it with something like 5 mins left. And it's moves are pretty lethal, but don't let me put you off. It is would have been quite fun to kill if wasn't for the fact that I needed to complete that quest to unlock the urgent quest or something like that.2011-04-14 09:19:00

I Love S.A's! They're definitely fun, but then again I enjoy using all weapons. If you do the direction+attack with the SA in Axe mode you'll do a little run forward stab with it. I'm sure you noticed that, but if you were to tap the shoulder button to switch modes right after the hit it'll automatically switch into sword mode with a combo strike and be able to keep attacking in sword mode. Also, if you start using the Sword mode's burst function you can hold down on the left stick and you'll do a short charge that lasts only half as long as the regular burst, which is great for getting that release off on a monster that is about to move!

Questor, from the looks of it you and I are the only ones in the NA server. Let's make a time to hop on tri and I'll help ya! Especially now since the Jhen event should be starting!

EDIT: Also, I enjoy underwater fighting! It's amazing if you get a good lance for underwater combat. You can use the lance charge to cover more ground underwater than regular swimming and it's also a good defense against hiphuggers like Lagi.

PS: Also, I do drop Lagiacrus for fun.lol =]

I just need to beat the Barroth and capture the Qurupeco and I'll be fighting the Gobul.
He looks HARD though, his moves can be performed on a moment's notice! Their also pretty deadly.

I'm currently using the entire Jaggi armor set, and the Jaggi Great sword. xD
That's what an abundance of G.Jaggi can do for you.

The Jhen looks frightening!

He's so big! My armor, and weapons are quite ineffective at the moment so you'll be doing all the hunting.
Plus my Wi-Fi isn't up (I can't get the blasted modem to work!) so I can't hunt with you!

I'll try and get my Wi-Fi up soon!

Hey, don't worry about Jhen. You're given cannons and Ballista bolts to fight him. So even if your weapons aren't strong enough to do effective damage then you can just hang back on the boat and fire cannonballs at him.

Do you know how cool you made fighting Jhen with you sound?

I'm desperate!!

I just made a random MH picture for no apparent reason!!

Real nice job there, man. I used to use the source image as a wallpaper. Going back to jhen, if you think that's something you should hear me recall some of the hunts I've had. It'll leave ya itching to grab a whetstone, a gs and go to town on something. lol

But yeah, when you get your wi-fi back up let me know and I'll help you out.

So, how long do they keep the Jhen hunt running? 3 months?

I'm emailing Cisco for help but they don't even bother.

My next Hunt will be the Barroth!

EDIT:

Do I need to be HR 30??

If so, I can't hunt the jhen, I'm only HR 3.

There is a low rank and a high rank Jhen. The low rank I believe has either no or little rank requirements whereas the high rank needs to be 31. The event usually lasts a few days but it cycles around once a month (...not that kind of cycle, wise guy). In the low rank you're stuck on the boat and just have to repel Jhen, but in the high rank version you're allowed to kill him.

Good luck with Roth! Just beware his triple charge when he's in rage mode! He'll rail you if you don't dodge/guard the first charge.

I just beat the barroth yesterday!

I only used 3 First-aid-meds, and 10 Herbs! (:^-D

Now, I'm gonna fight the Gobul, he seems hard.

Hey, which armor are you using?

I'm currently using:

Ludroth Helm
Barroth Mail
Jaggi Vangaurds
Jaggi Tasset
Ludroth Greaves

I'll try and amp my HR up to 31, I highly doubt I'll be able to.

Could I go on the mission with you if I'm not HR 31??

Congrats on the kill there. Have you started making Potions yet? I'd start growing blue mushrooms and herbs in the farm and start combining soon, you'll need them. Gobul isn't too hard once you get his moves down. Just make sure you watch him when he burrows under the water's ground. He'll pop up and clip ya. Also, if you hear a little popping sound and the lantern starts to move he's going to flash his lantern to stun you so guard fast.

Ludroth Helm
Barroth Mail
Jaggi Vangaurds
Jaggi Tasset

At that point I stuck with Jaggi armor for the gourmand skill (which increases the amount of stamina rations and steaks give. I simply gemmed in the sharpening skill so I could sharpen my weapon twice as fast.) When I got to the hunt lagi urgent I made roth armor for the better thunder and overall defense.

I'll try and amp my HR up to 31, I highly doubt I'll be able to.

Could I go on the mission with you if I'm not HR 31??

Of course you can! See you can do any mission with anyone as long as you meet or surpass the HR requirement. So I'm able to help you with every quest. You just can't join quests above your HR, but I can easily join any quest below mine.

Hmm, good idea. I should farm roth's, when i get round to playing. Btw what weapon type did you start with and when did you change weapon types?
I started with sword and shield, and i used that for ages. I think I changed it after killing the gobul with it, which was pretty hardout.

I started by using the GS and SnS for the most part. Once I got online I mostly stayed with a GS until I got my Tropeco bowgun at which point I went full gunner until my Jhen Urgent. After that I mostly swapped between the GS and SA. Now that I got some of the weapons I enjoyed from earlier games I'm back to using a little bit of everything.2011-04-15 23:57:00

Bowguns have got to be my favourite weapons. In Unite I used them all the time, then swapped to LS. The thing with bowguns are they arn't really solo weapons and it's better to use one while in a group of hunters. They lack alot of the power and/or speed of melee weapons, but have awesome bullet attributes, which are really handy when in groups. Also weaker armour is a downfall, and you really need to be skilled at dodging. Other then that they rock. I prefer the customisation of them on Tri, has a lot more freedom in choice.2011-04-16 05:08:00

I absolutely love gunning! I've been an avid gunner since the beginning! I love soloing with the bowgun at times(Not cluster/pellet spaming). It can be so much fun! I love the bowgun system in Tri and hope it is always carried over into future versions! I am absolutely pumped about MHp3rd! The bowguns are apparently more effective in terms of soloing and while I don't enjoy that I may run into a lolgunner comment for using it in a game where it's more powerful than previous. The fact that I can whip my heavy into siege mode and absolutely hammer away makes it feel so much more epic!2011-04-16 06:47:00

The, noob but fun, thing about bowguns is that often you can stand on a ledge and spam bullets with little worry about taking damage. I remember trying to take out the Khezu with a bowgun in Snowy Mountains, from that high as ledge in the resting area. LOL, I failed. I also like using bowguns underwater, made my first bowgun in Tri mainly for that 2011-04-16 07:32:00

Nice, I always loved grabbing my narga gun set and just going evade gunner. Mostly because I was right up close with the melee hunters. I'd dodge an attack, fire an elemental shot and roll under the target's counter attack before firing the next shot.2011-04-16 12:21:00

Bowguns? HeckYeah!!

I love the system that they use, there's something aboutit that just feels abnormally EPIC!
I remember trying to beat the Tigrex in MHFU with Bow gun: /EPIC FAIL
He owned me, hard!
I did manage to beat the Yian Kutku in training (MHFU) with a bowgun.
But that's the only guy I could beat.
I'm mostly a Great Sword guy!

lol Yeah, you have to know the monsters moves enough to know whether it's safe to squeeze off a shot or wait. I absolutely love facing narga with my bowgun. Even before I had an evade set. It was just so much fun to tackle that agile ******* with a bowgun. His BGM music makes it even more epic.

Nice work with Goby! Good luck with Baggi, he can be a bit annoying with his sleep spit. His attacks are similar to Jaggi, they just do a little more damage.

Glad to hear you'll be up and about again soon enough. I'll be waiting.

It's funny you should mention the Great Baggi, because I just beat him!

I'm not looking forward to the Gigginox though, after I killed al the Baggis, he did this weird move, where I was on the floor, and he was sucking my blood. ;_;

Fortunately the mission was completed, so I didn't take any damage.

Any advice on beating him? :3

Caught in your first pin, huh? You have to be careful with that. I always make sure to carry dung bombs with me. For those occasions where someone gets pinned you can use a dung bomb and immediately get the monster off.

giggi is a heat seaker, he sees heat so it's actually good to exploit that in online mode by having one member break out a torch every now and then to act as bait (Hint Hint, if you have a trap lure him to it). Giggi's basic problem is that his moves may not be fast to start but they sure end pretty quick. He's more inclined to a poison Khezu.

You'll want to avoid hitting him head on until you get his moves down. Focus on hitting him from his flanks, he'll turn around to face you letting you get some shots in on the rest of his body. If it looks like he's rearing up you better get your guard ready because he's going to flatten himself on the ground with a slam. When he gets into rage mode he'll even pump out a poison cloud when he does that (So bring Antidotes!).

Should giggi climb onto the ceiling he's going to do a few attacks. He'll either dive off and slam you, hang from his tail and sweep the ground (the pinning move he caught you in), or swing from his tail and spit poison blobs out randomly. Make sure you get a good view of him and guard when he gets on the ceiling. Just take your time and wait for openings until you get used to him. He's incredibly weak to fire so if you have a fire weapon by all means break it out!

EDIT: Also...he gives birth during combat but don't let that get to you. lol

Hmm, you know when you are versing the gigganox and there is that place with heaps of stands that you can light up with torch, how do you light them? I can only manage to light one of them.

going back to bowguns...and nargacugas
I've never actually fought a nargacuga with a bowgun before, i always long sword him. I used to kill about 3 a day. I've killed a tigrex with a bow before....in the arena
But seriously nargacugars are one of my favourite monsters, both to hunt and in apperance.....then the gigganox came out in Tri.
LOL, I just remembered. I wanted to capture the gigganox when I was hunting it and had already used one trap (i usually carry 2), he was limping and so I put my last trap down, and tried to lure him towards it ( not knowing about it being a heat seeker, so i didn't use torch) and he moved areas. I kinda got annoyed and started raging at him, owning him up with my switch axe, lol. It took me over 20 minutes more to kill him, so frustrating (cause I died, my paintball effect wore off, and by the time I found him he had already rested a while)
Moral is don't get ahead of yourself and plant a trap straight away, wait for him to fall asleep (which is what i NORMALLY do)

Well as I'm sure you noticed how it gives you that prompt to light the stand and once you do you'll now have the torch out. Well when you head over to the other stands with the torch still out you have to hold the shoulder button when you stand next to it and another prompt will appear over your head. When it does, hit the button you normally pressed (depending on classic controller or wiimote+nunchuck) to light the previous stand while still holding the shoulder button. (I believe it was the R shoulder button, it's still early here so I'm a bit groggy. lol) That should do it.

Yeah, Narga is one of my favorites too, I just get pumped facing him, those glowing eyes just leave an impression on you. By all means if you ever want to try it, throw together some evade armor and a bowgun that has Thunder and Fire S. lol

Yeah...I hate when you waste a trap, the rule of thumb I have about capping a limping Wyvern is this. "If he's not in his lair, he's going to change areas as soon as he can." Just make sure not to do too much damage and just egg him on into the next area. There are those monsters that you can catch before they get to their lair, but most are better off with you waiting for them to get to the place where they won't run from (their lair).

MAN, I'm having a lot pf fun on this thread!

So, I just beat a Rathian on the "deliver a Paw pass ticket" mission, I repelled the Lagiacrus, and I'm going to go versus a Rathian (again), and the Gigginox, thanks for that invaluable information 4Wheel, That helps me a lot! I'm gonna start carrying 2-4 Dung bombs from now on.
I'm just wondering, can you get a Lagaicrus tail from the mission where you repel the Lagaicrus??

Thanks 4wheel for the info on how to light the torches, it was really getting to me, and yeah I use classic controller.
@ The-Questor, I think you can get a tail if you repel him, you just need to cut off it's tail. I think I did that when I did that mission.
Rathians are a slight pain to kill, mainly because of it's charge attack and it's poison tail. I much prefer the Ratholos, though I have been thinking of starting to farm Rathians for it's materials (need better armour and weapon).

What I found slightly disappointing about MH tri was the lack of offline multiplayer mode for missons. Sure, it has the arena, but I would so much like to go duo on missions with my bro, but have to stick with killing barroths and the likes in arena if I wanna go multi. But Cha-Cha, slightly makes up for that

Good to hear man! I enjoy fighting the Raths from time to time. I really don't mind Ian all that much, lord knows I've seen her Triple charge enough times she can't catch me with it. It's funny if it's a dual quest and the lovers wind up doing more damage to themselves than me. I've seen Ian backflip and strike Los in the face. I've seen Los Pepper Ian with Fireballs from above, Oh it gets funny. You almost forget they're not on your side at times.

And yes, if you cut off Lagiacrus' tail you can carve it as well as possibly get a tail in the rewards. Good luck though, it takes some practice to cut tails in the water when the monster continually lifts and lowers themselves with you. Maybe if you can chase him onto land you can get your best chance at it.

Yeah, I loved playing with my brother in Unite. It made it nice to know I had a duo partner ready at anytime. He isn't too keen on the split screen so it's not often we play tri together. Ah well. It would have been nice to do some actual mission with an offline multiplayer, but I suppose the arena is good enough. At least it gives me a chance to stack Vouchers.

Yeah, I was very disappointed with the Split screen multiplayer.
But, when you get right down to it, the arena is still pretty fun.

It's actually quite funny, because whil I was on the mission to capture the Rathian she pinned me! SO I got out the Dung bombs I'm starting to carry around and chucked on at her.

EPIC WIN

I'm trying to upgrade my sword so I get the Lagiacrus sword.
I just need 2 tails, 1 scale, and 1 shell.
The Lagi. armor looks awesome!
I wouldn't mind getting it all, but I'm trying to get the Rathian armor.
I have the helmet, I just need the rest.

EDIT:

EDIT#2:

I went on the Capcom official site and got the NA Jhen event dates.

2/27 - 3/2
3/21 - 3/24
4/12 - 4/15
5/4 - 5/7
5/26 - 5/29

If you use the EUR server (Hint Hint: The_Sackboy_Fan, KernelM) then you simply add 2 days to each event
to get the correct time for your server.

Just found a pretty sweet armour generator http://www.monsterhunter-armory.com/calc.php in which you can see what materials you need for certain pieces of armour, skills that come from it and it's cost. then it adds the totals of all the armour you chose and give you the stats as an armour set.
So I put in all the Lagiacrus armour and came up with...

Total Slots : 9

Stats
10 Swimming
10 Sharpness
10 Elemental
-10 Status

Total Cost
28000z

Active skill(s) Points Effect
Olympic Swimmer 10 Swimming Increases your movement speed in water.
Razor Sharp 10 Sharpness Halves the rate at which your weapon loses Sharpness
Element Atk Up 10 Elemental Increases the power of Elemental attacks.
Status Atk Down -10 Status Decreases the potency of Abnormal Status attacks.

You also have the choice to add gems and charms and it'll calculate that as well.

Nice find, I haven't used one of those in a long time. I usually just pay attention to the skills and run the numbers in my head. I'm currently making Lagiacrus+ Armor so I can have the Awakening Skill with unlocks the hidden element in certain weapons. I just need one more friggen Lagi Sapphire. lol

Hey, do you think I can get my HR to 31 before May 4th 7th?

Because that's the Lagiacrus dates.

So, do I just have to go up to the Jhen Mohran event?
If so then this is gonna be a cake walk.
Well, I'm sending my Wi-Fi modem to Cisco on Tuesday, then I'll have to wait for 3-5 days.
So, I think I'll have enough time....Think.

Why yes it is, I picked him up ages ago and I've been using him since. lol I was considering upgrading to the Sneaking suit cat, but I'm holding off for now.

Anywho, I did a little bit of the arena earlier today. Took on the Roth, Bari, Los challenge. Got all the way through it without dying and after a failed pin by los, he catches me with the windpress of his landing and he kills me with a fireball while locked in the blown back animation. I run back in...hit him twice and he dies! Man that ticked me off! All I got was one bari coin...

Just a random question, is that felyne in Monster Hunter 1,G,Dos, TRi, freedom, freedom 2, freedom unite, or tri?

Lol, that's a lot of games when summed up.

The one with the Sneaking suit? No, He's in the new MHP3rd that released in JPN back in Dec. Capcom worked together with Konami to put a hidden Rathalos and Tigerex boss fight in the MG: Peacewalker so now they're teaming up again to put Big Boss, The Boss, and a Sneaking Suit Felyne in the new MHP3rd.2011-04-19 19:43:00

Well, I can still hunt away on Tri until then.

So, is the Classic Controller Pro better than the Classic Controller (and/or) the Wii remote?

I just wanted your opinion because I might get a Classic Controller pro. :3

I'm using the Wii remote....and hating it.

That's why I wanted to get a CCPro or CC, so I'll probably go for a CCPro, it's like HD hunting. :3

Have fun with that! Make sure if you're attacking his chest when he roars that you turn to face his head to block the roar. Good luck getting away from the major discharge when there are random sparks of electricity outside his normal discharge range. He'll cramp himself into a ball before doing it so there's your warning to back far away.2011-04-20 17:17:00

lol, you've caught up to me. Im up to that mission, but I havn't played in ages.
When I first fought him i had s&s and autoguard which was pretty darn handy, so I didn't have to worry about dodging as much as I normally do with switchaxe, but switchaxe is so much stronger.
I actually thought the Lagaicrus was bigger and had overestimated it, but it's not too hard.

So, I've defeated the Lagiacrus now.

Thus, I have surpassed iLEGEND....Unless he beat that mission. :S

You use your character's name and it gives you a six character ID that goes with it. Mine is "WKUNAZ" That way regardless of what character I use I can be found with my Tri ID.

Are the letters random?

Or did you personally select WKUNAZ?

I won't be on Tri over the weekend (no details) so that kind of stinks.

General advice, huh?

Don't carve the tail when the monster is in the area unless it's one of those situations where the tail won't last or won't be reachable at any other time.

Keep Lifepowders and dung bombs with you online, odds are you will be the ONLY one to do so.

Keep the positions of your teammates in mind. Accidentally moving in front of a gunner can cause you to get hit. Lord forbid he's firing clusters. Also hitting your teammate with an up-swing isn't a good thing either.

Prepare, prepare, prepare. Make sure you know where/when you're going to hunt a monster. The desert is cold at night and those Cool drinks aren't going to help.

Know which monsters are effected by certain items. Knowing when to throw a sonic bomb or flash bomb can save a life and shorten the hunt.

Also, don't spam items. Yes, flash bombs are super effective on that monster...but missing several throws again and again will only leave your teammates blind.

If you keep getting hit while trying to sharpen or heal, please flee to the next area before trying again. Your team will appreciate you not throwing away a continue trying to make the impossible happen (After all, you're not Kamina lol).

Well some are more effected by it then others. Such as for Diablos you'd be better off waiting until he tried to dig while he's not raged and trap him with sonic bomb.

Anywho, I've been watching a whole bunch of epic MHFrontier videos so I've been feeling a craving to hunt building.

No unfortunately. It's JPN only at the moment. The only platforms it's available on is PC and 360. It's like a pseudo-MMO. The main hub town can have ridiculous amounts of players in them but you still group up into four person teams for hunts. Although they did have one monster called Raviente which was this giant sea serpent that you need two teams of four to face. There was also at one point a challenge mode where two teams face the same monster on different instances to see who could kill it first. I'm not sure if that's still in place though since I don't see it much anymore in the videos.

EDIT: Found it.

I has a BIG sad.

That game looks completely EPIC!

But then again, aren't all MH games?

So, about the Wi-Fi, I have a little explaining to do, so...

So, Right before I became aware of my Wi-Fi modem being faulty,
the family printer broke! So, after we got the confirmation to get another one via warrenty, I was sent an email with the reciept, so I had to send that in with the Modem. Well, WE HAD NO PRINTER!! =(
So, as of yesterday, my dad hooked up the computer to another printer, so we can print again.
Now, Today my older bro and I are going to the post office to send that sucker in.
So, I'm expecting to have Wi-Fi before the next weekend.

EXPECTING, things have a way of going wrong, so It might not work out.

That is all.

I have EVERY other part. I just can't seem to find a Rathian Plate!

I've another question, can you trade items in MH Tri?
That's something I've wondered ever since I got the game. (3 weeks ago, lol)

As in with other players? Yes, although you can only trade items Rarity 3 and under. You can trade certain items with the veggie elders you see walking around in the zones. They usually will give you an item for something rare in return.

As for those plates...just keep cutting them tails.

I just need one!!

I have the Lagiacrus Blade and it is fricken awesome.
I'm tring to get the Ravenger Blade but I need a Barioth tail.

Speaking of the Barioth, I just fell one today!!

He was easy in a way, but hard in another.

Bari was fun when I first fought him...unfortunately I've helped so many people farm him for weapons/armor that I just lost interest in facing him. Conga-rats on dropping one, his high rank armor is really good, it has Evade 2 and evade distance.2011-04-28 18:52:00

Ouch, you're getting screwed. There isn't any real technique. It's just the luck of the draw...err carve. Lord knows I don't get 'em all too often. I usually get them in high rank quests online though since the rates are higher for 'em. Capturing gives a slight increase in the percent for a reward, so maybe hack off the tail and capture one instead.2011-04-28 23:35:00

I'll pass. I think I'd rather hunt Rathians with you online, than to do Arena battles.

I need TWO rathian plates now! I'm going to make a sword that requires 5 wyvern claw and fangs, and ONE rathian plate.

I have the Wyvern claws & fangs, I just need that dang Rathian Plate!!

So, they've now confirmed that the Wi-Fi modem should be here by Sunday-Tuesday.

EPIC-NESS!!

And don't worry about the arena, it's not that bad online. Especially after you learn the monster's movements. It's a lot of fun when you get used to it! Plus stacking vouchers is fun. lol

Anywho, we'll farm Ian first and get those plates.

I've given up on the Rathian armor, only to take up Rathalos armor!

I've already got the Helm and Mail, just need everything else. :3
I also need a Rathalos Plate!! ;_;
I've had enough of the balsted plates!

I just need one Rathian Plate for a sword. (I think it's the Wyvern Jaw Blade)

Sorry to randomly jump in here, but for either of the rath plates, you can better your chances by (1) breaking its face, (2) cutting and carving its tail, (3) allowing it to eat and drop a shiny and (4) capturing it. It's a rare drop but doing all of these things should stack the odds a bit more in your favor. Also, as with all monster hunter drops, not wanting it also helps a ton. 2011-05-01 17:26:00

I do have Tri - played it to death and have since moved on to Freedom Unite, but I did boot Tri up today for the first time in months and it was still super fun. Sure, just PM me a time and date when you guys are going to be on and I will see if I can join in on the fun. Too bad the online communication tools on the Wii are so limited, but I'm sure fun times can be had by all once we can get into a city together, lol.

Probably because you weren't online.

EDIT:

I updated the OP with a List of all members who posted on this thread.
I've posted their: ID, Name, Server, and LBPC name.

Since we only have two confirmed IDs and names, everyone has a ... where their IDs/Names should be.

EDIT Again:

I'm HR 4!

I also am going to get the Lagiacrus Armor, but I have a trivial problem.

I don't have all the armor!

I've captured and killed the Lagiacrus and I don't even have the helm and Faulds in the Smithy.

Help me understand why please.

@Questor:

To add people online, unfortunately, both hunters must be online at the same time to be able to add each other. An annoying feature of the online aspect of this game, but alas, it is the case. In my experience, the best way to initially meet up online is to fix a time and date, as well as a server, gate and city, although the latter is not required since you can search for people and warp to them.

With respect to your armor question, for each piece of armor or weapon or jewel (anything that is craftable by the blacksmith), you need at least one of what the game determines to be a "key" ingredient. For example, the Lagi helm and faulds both need a Lagi horn, so I am assuming that is the ingredient you are missing - you may be missing other materials as well, but once you get whatever the "key" material is, it should at least show up so you can drool over it, albeit greyed out until you have all the requisite materials.

Unfortunately, the only way you can get horns is to break them, and you may (or may not) get them in the rewards box as a break reward. You need 3 in total, 2 for the helm and 1 for the faulds, so I see at least 3 more Lagis in your future (unless you get more than 1 in the box). The good news is, it looks like you have the plate already (hope so) and that is good because the plate is the rarest drop. Breaking the horns is a slightly dangerous endeavor, but depending on what weapon you are comfortable with it can be done fairly easily (hammer and GS are the best, but can also be done with guns or lance quite comfortably as well). In any case, I am sure you can do it fine.

I'm glad to hear you're addicted to the CCPro. There's always fun to be had if you get the right team. Wait until you can do the Sea Power event. 2 Lagi+ in the water arena, real good fun. I did it a few days ago and here's a good story I walked away from it with.

I got teamed up with a hunter named Alatreon (we all had some fun making a few loc lac is under attack jokes) and two other hunters. The four of us were a pretty good team and we put down the lagi pair without much resistance. Ala had been using a hammer, while I stuck with a lance. Unfortunately the other two had to leave shortly after. That's when two others joined by the names of Craig and Ace. Craig was a S.A. user and Ace was another hammer user. So I decided to go at it one final time for the night, man I'm glad I did.

We all start up and clean out the supply box and down our steaks. I'm lancing so I just brought Mega Juice instead. Ala needed shockers and tickets so he's saying for everyone to break the back. We all hop in the water and get to work on lagi. I charge to his side and hold a guard facing his head for his scream. Once it ended, I moved in and started striking at his back with everyone. Well lagi starts swatting us away with his spins, either catching someone with the bite or the following tail swipe. We get back to attacking his back when he starts to prepare a discharge. Unfortunately I got clipped by Craig's S.A. and was unable to block the discharge. Thankfully it shot me above Lagi and didn't do all that much damage. I did my best Giga Drill Impression and charged straight down on Lagi's back, driving in a good 7 hits before clipping through him.

We were mostly just having fun so we didn't care if we hit each other or not, we'd just joke about it and move on. Well soon enough my lance dulled and I had to get away from the fight to get a sharpen in. Having moved away to sharpen I see Ace take a real nasty hit and gets dropped to about 10hp left. As I finish the sharpening animation I had the lifepowder already set and used it just as Lagi tail slammed Ace. His health bar jumped to 60 and then back to 10 when the shot hit. It was an absolute Epic save right at that last possible moment! As Lagi backed away to prep a charge I called a "Your welcome" to Ace before going back into a guard and he was still having a energetic rush from the save and was suddenly a lot more active in the beat down. Soon it got the point where Ala would come in with his hammer charged and pound Lagi's back in between my back stepping combo and after another three strikes Ace would super pound the back and after Another three strikes Craig finished S.A. burst before we all rushed in and killed it. It's back, horn, chest, and tail all broke/lopped off.

After that, will still had the second Lagi to deal with. I went over to the nator and threw up a shock just slightly above the nator. Well after a little taunt we start leading the second Lagi to the shock and he thankfully does a charge right for me, winding up right in it. Swimming down on setting off the nator he gets collected by two spikes easily and grazed by a third. Craig had never noticed the nator before so he was first to announce his shock of the sudden impalement/neutering of Lagi stating "When was that put in?!" We all had a good chuckle before we surrounded and more or less locked down the second Lagi with either flinches, KO's, or trips and reduced his back, chest, and horn to nothing before he finally died on us.

In the rewards I got two horns, 5 tickets, and a few shell shockers. It wasn't the sappies I was hoping for, but it was definitely a fun hunt with some real nice moments of epic sprinkled in.

I kind of felt like I was in the fight while reading that!
You're a superb story teller.

I've not much tales to tell as I've only just begun my hunting season!

Heh, thanks!

S, I've got my HR to 8. I can fight a Barroth now, and I've got about 2 new friends (aside from you)

I have a question, you have the 'No Keyboard' status, yet you reply and type things at a magnificant pace?
How do you do it? Do you actually have a keyboard, and you like to jack with noobs heads?

No, I'm just good with the controller. I've been typing with one since the ps2 days. Trust me, I could be faster if Capcom had mapped a button to space for me. Having to keep moving back to the space button before going to the next letter slows me down.2011-05-07 17:09:00

So, I'm so close to HR 9, Though I have to do a ton of gathering missions nobody ever helps me with. I've got like 4 more to do.

So, I was on today and ScoutsBoo decided to join me!
She helped me do some of the cheap gathering missions, and hunt the barroth!

Be warned though, she is a MONSTER at typing. She'll have 3 messages up before you have 1. O_O

Watch the skies my friend! When the sand begins to eclipse the mountains Jhen approaches! And yes it does work for all high rank armors. Unfortunately on most armors the pieces that change color are either very minute or hard to notice. There are a few armors where it shows well though, like the Bnahabra armor.2011-05-08 05:58:00

I've changed my Symbol color to White and it REALLY shows on the following armor:

Ludroth, Loc Lac, Ranger, Banahabra.
I've yet to test it on the Guil armor. So, does that mean that the Jhen Mohran will be back whenever?
Or is there a specific scheduled date? ~_^

I'm sure somewhere online has a specific date, but I'm a bit of a roleplayer so I don't go by those dates. When I'm strolling Loc Lac, I keep my gaze on the mountains and watch for sandstorm to come rolling in. If I catch him, good. If I don't, then Jhen's migration must have been put on hold due to some phenomena obstructing his passage. 2011-05-08 06:23:00

Hey, don't worry. You get better at it with time. You just gotta know what ammo types to use. Status shots are your friend when supporting your team. Knowing what monster you're going to face and bring the right elemental shots helps as well.2011-05-08 23:09:00

So, abot the symbol color again: Can you choose the exact Symbol color you want?

And how do you overforge armor?

You unlock the armor pigments when you have a high rank armor. Now there are two ways of getting a high rank armor. The first is to simply hunt some high rank monsters and craft some new armor. The second way is to enhance your old low rank armors using parts from high rank monsters. It's cheaper, and just as effective. The drawback though is that the high rank or "+" version may have better skills so it would be wise to see if you're better off getting the whole new +set or just enhancing your original one.2011-05-09 16:59:00

By the way: I found out where your second character's name is from! :O
One of my friends shown me these comic books that were called Dark stalkers (or something like that) and the main character's name is:

Felicia!

So yeah, I thought that was kind of cool, though she's a cat thingy. o_.
Anyways, where does the name Oscilous come from?

Actually, Felicia came from an absence of thought. I have these two characters I have in an RP. One Being Oscilous and the other being Fiona. When I made my female character I had only just made Fiona, but hadn't used her in the RP yet. So I actually forgot what I named her other than it started with an F. lol Felicia was the first thing that came to mind so I went with that and started farming Jaggi. By the time I got on the comp and realized it was Fiona, I was already too far along to bother overwriting her. lol The reason Felicia stuck out to me though was probably because of Dark Stalkers. lol

Oscilous is a nice one I came up with on my own. It was for a collaborative story me and few other MH fans started. He used the Menacing Scythe and wore Death Stench S armor from Unite. We had classified those that wore Death Stench armor as those that had died in battle and came back from the dead through unknown circumstances. So he was essentially a reborn hunter who was more or less already dead. Real BA. lol

I think it's nice, although I like to see sayings to simplify a players ideals. I when I made mine I was originally helping a lot of rookie hunters. So I got the Infinite Kindness in the way that I would never get mad. The Limited Patience comes in from my attitude towards Elitists which, back in the first MH (F2, FU, and Tri to a certain extent.) were pretty rampant with their stupid, obnoxious behavior.2011-05-16 18:04:00

Yeah, I understand it's a more of a reboot as opposed to adding one new monster and seven alternate colors of old ones, but it just feels lacking. Still, if mhp3rd is any example, they're bringing back alternate colors and still adding a hand full of new monsters. I'd imagine just like MH and MH Dos, we'd here about production of a MHTriG which will include all or most the stuff from MHp3rd. The only drawback being that both G versions of the original and Dos MH titles were Japan only.

I must say, I wonder if they were to put it on the ps3 if they could include all the monsters/armors/weapons from both Pre and post MHTri. Wouldn't that be nice? You're out hunting Qurupeco and he calls in Gypceros! Man, one can dream!

Tri was originally intended for the PS3, but CAPCOM recognized the Wii's appeal to the public and quickly switched over to that system. Marketing, you know how it is.
On another note:
MHP3rd looks amazing!
I hope that it comes to the US soon.

On ANOTHER (more informative) note:
Japan has to pay 200 Wii points (2 US dollars) to play online, while US & EUR has it for free.
So, it's understandable that they get 3 times as much games as US and EUR does.

It's also cheaper as well. Also, they know the fanbase in JPN is big enough to warrant a subscription. The only reason Capcom doesn't make NA & EU pay is because they would lose money since the franchise isn't any where near as big as it is in JPN.2011-05-19 16:01:00

Which you rather do?

Pay $10 for online service forever
or
Pay $2 a month for online service

It's really a no-brainer. Anywho, so, my endeavor yesterday was a big fail.
I didn't do ONE new mission, and I got my HR tp 24 by helping this nooby guy called Shane out.

EPIC FAIL!

In terms of the producer or the consumer? Now as a producer you'd want the $2 a month, hoping the content you put in is more than enough to last longer than five months. Cause once that you pay for that sixth month you can quit for all they care cause it was more of a profit than the first option. There is always those that don't make it to the five month mark so in terms of the other option they would lose. But with a one and done deal, once you see the community is going strong long past the five month mark you'd be losing money for not going with the second option.

But you also need to hope the demographic you're aiming at is large enough to pull this off. As with JPN, it is. You can easily charge $2 a month knowing they'll easily play for at least 10 months and double the money you would have gotten going with the first option. NA/EU, that isn't the case. With those new to the series at Tri would be turned off at the p2p route, whereas those that have been around and are fans from earlier installments would be more likely to shell out for online. While this is also true with JPN, the number of people who are already fans and are willing to shell out for online far surpass those of the States and our neighbors across the pond. So they'd be better off not charging for online and letting those new to the franchise play online for free in hopes that through word of mouth they get their friends in on the series.

Anywho, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get much done. But you should be happy you helped a rookie, it's one more player with a positive experience and is likely to stick around and support the series longer. I didn't even get online yesterday, the room the wii was in was getting remodeled.

It's funny, that's the exact (or in the ball park) thing I thought you were going to say!
It all really boils down to how long the person will remain playing online.
I kind of feel I'll surpass the 6 month mark, so I've probably got a better deal.
The game is fricken addicting!

Well, I never did get to capture the Uragaan which was my main goal.
No one was up to the task!
Shane was nice, he had a pleasant disposition, it's a shame my network instabilized after a mission.
I felt he was going to friend request me, after all, I did help him through 4 missions.

Do you ever get "Network Instability"?

Yes, yes I do. I mostly get it on Maintenance days though. Pity you didn't get your Uragaan, don't worry you'll get sooner or later!2011-05-20 19:39:00

I just beat the [advanced] agnaktor mission, still haven't got the Uragaan yet, and I'm HR 26

Anywho, so basically, I'm repeating missions a lot now.
I do a lot of missions just helping out people, but hey, their always in a pleasant mood,
and if I'm having fun, then it doesn't really matter how far I get, because that's the whole point of the game; enjoyment! :-^D

Well now...after a half awake stroll through a rather devious website, what do I find? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exJZAUbPt2A&feature=player_embedded So, upon a little further digging I find this. http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/05/22/monster_hunter_ps3/

Hm, How interesting.

I heard about that!
One problem though, MHP3rd for PSP hasn't been released anywhere besides Japan, so how long will it take them to release MHP3rd HD for PS3 in America/Europe!?
I really hope they release MHP3rd for PSP in America sometime this year.

I yearn to fight the Jinogua!
So, I did an urgent quest with someone (jack49), the urgent quest was slay or repel the Jhen Mohran. (not mine, his)
We slayed it, and I got to make two pieces of Jhen armor; the helm and the tasset/flauds.

My HR is 29 now!

I'm glad you're at HR 29, I should be able to hop on later today if you're going to be on again.

Sometimes I wonder if my playtime is deficit...

Well, I could be on more often. I usually save the weekends to spend with my SO. Still, I'm sure we could find an easier way to meet on Tri.2011-05-23 15:24:00

Well, I might be on today, I sincerely doubt I'll meet up with you though.
I've got trivialities that requires my attendance.

Hoping I'll meet ya on, doubting i will.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but if anyone is interested in playing with me just let me know. Name: Zynax HR 96. I'm not as obsessed with MH tri as I used to be (thank god), but I still hop on pretty frequently.2011-05-25 03:51:00

Hey zynax555,

It's never too late for MHTri. :^D
I'll try and add you by name.
If you will direct your attention to the OP there's a list of LBPC hunters, their IDs, and names.
So, could you please tell me your ID? For the sake of the List.

You've been added to the list. ^_^

My info:

Name: Ahmed

I really like your ID by the way.
Very repetative, and easy to remember.

Apparently so. ;_.

Lol, ScoutsBoo has an equally random one too ya know!
So, I'm rank 32 now, and all I need is a Rathian Ruby to get this EPIC sword with 800+ attack and 400+ Dragon Element.

I'm usually on whenever.

Though, my little and older brother got MHFU and we;ve been on non-stop, so I haven't been on.
Plus, I've been offline a lot. I'm endeavoring to slay the Caedus.

the best thing to do is set a time and date.
That's how 4Wheel and I met. Pick a date, and I'll try and be on at that time...

BUMP, because I got this a few months back and just now started scratching the surface of online...

Its a good deal smaller than Unite, but it is MUCH easier to play online. hunter ID is swweet, and I usually do Lance, Hammer, or GS... occasionally Bowgun if support is needed.
