I got a virus >.> It sucks. Worst thing is, I know it's there, but it's blocking me from doing a system restore, or even download AVG :S Basically.. Would someone please download the AVG installer, and send me it over MSN? I mean, the stupid thing's even blocking AVG.com (I don't even know how the hell that's possible), but it keeps redirecting me to some spam site, which claims to have the download. Help please >;(? | 2008-12-01 16:29:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |

Lol, the Trial Version is 60mbs, but sure, I'm downloading it now for ya. Add me on MSN. It's on my contact info. You really got to hate those viruses >_> | 2008-12-01 16:34:00 Author: Forsaken Posts: 950 |

I have it here now if you want it. Did you try booting into Safe Mode and doing the restore from there? Cheers QuozL | 2008-12-01 16:36:00 Author: QuozL Posts: 921 |
I don't see how an installer for an antivirus can be a few kbs >_> Perhaps I'm downloading the wrong one? lol And you might as well let QuozL send it to you if that's the case(If it doesn't bother you QuozL), my internet has been disconnecting lately, and I'd hate it being cut while it's being sent. Router problems..And yeah I'm using a wired connection. | 2008-12-01 16:41:00 Author: Forsaken Posts: 950 |
Sending it now. Cheers QuozL | 2008-12-01 16:53:00 Author: QuozL Posts: 921 |
I got a terrible marlware virus in the summer. Your best bet is to google the site which it keeps sending you to. There should be many people with the same problem - and somewhere a step by step guide of how to get rid of it. Thats what i did. For mine - i had to install like 4 programs! But it's gone now. | 2008-12-01 16:59:00 Author: ryryryan Posts: 3767 |

Do you have any idea how you got it? | 2008-12-01 23:37:00 Author: dobilay Posts: 60 |
sounds like you got hijacked, I would recommend "hijack this" and delete the sucker (be careful not to delete something you actually need, it can screw some programs); I can read the log for you if you don't understand what to delete if you would want something more simple on your internet browser turn off all add-ons (I'm guessing its internet explorer since IE sucks like that; tools>manage add ons> enable or disable) that should unblock AVG.com | 2008-12-01 23:39:00 Author: Reshin Posts: 1081 |
Thanks guys Decided I'm gonna reformat everything. Get it done once and for all. This is horrible xD Thanks anyhow I certainly feel you pain, but I always have this great feeling wash over me when it's time to reformat my HDD. It's something of a fresh start I guess you could say. Now, losing my external drives is different; I still haven't recovered from that tragedy... So much gone... just gone... just like that... Sorry about that; moving on. Good luck with all of that, Miffy. Keep us posted. | 2008-12-02 00:26:00 Author: supersickie Posts: 1366 |

any way this happened to me once my uncle did somthing that made my computer all new and wiped out and everything System restoration. | 2008-12-02 02:16:00 Author: Unknown User |
System restoration. System restoration is an incorrect term, its now used to reffer to that crud of a program in windows called System Restore that really, barely works... The following should be used when reffering to said action: -reformatted -format -rebooted - restored to factory settings(restored can be replaced with any of the words above) -reinstalled windows just your random jargon of the day. With that said shoudn't this thread be closed since Drunk formated the thing? | 2008-12-02 04:40:00 Author: Reshin Posts: 1081 |

I got too much crap on here that I cba to go through xD & No, we aren't GOt a mate coming over with the CD we need soon.. He's even better than me on computers, so he said he'd do it | 2008-12-02 07:48:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
Have you even tried system restore? Restart your computer, and when it starts up, tap either f2 or f8 (I forgot which one) and then you'll go onto computer options that looks like the 80's computer style. The click repair your computer and there may be some extra options- including reboot. I think I had the same problem as you (torrenting. XD) so rebooting it erases all the extra information that's been put on your computer since your last computer update- or when it was properly working. >_> It worked for me when I had this problem. | 2008-12-02 09:00:00 Author: TheArmedReaper Posts: 1543 |

He's even better than me on computers, so he said he'd do it I think you misunderstood, I'm saying IE is a crud of a browser thats easy to get hijacked... and a way around it is to do what I said, once your free to dl again get your defense buffed out, Avast, AVG, Ad-aware, Spyware Blaster, and Spyware Search and Destroy. Those should cover all fronts... worst case scenario a virus can do is mess up the windows core files, which Avast and AVG can clear out, | 2008-12-02 23:40:00 Author: Reshin Posts: 1081 |
