An idicator of how full your profile is

Archive: 14 posts

If you play LBP enough, then I am sure you have encountered a "Your profile is too big to be saved. Consider deleting stuff from My Objects, Costumes, and other such things" message, or words to that effect.

What I would like to see is some sort of indicator appear on the appropriate pages indicating how much space we actually have left. It would be even better if we could see how much space all our items were actually taking.

It's just frustrating to hit a limit, not know how effective I am in clearing stuff out, and not knowing how far away I am now from this limit before I hit it again.

The the size of the save profile is ridiculous. You can't even fill ever crater in your moon, which you should be able to no matter what, if you have a decent number of saved objects.

I seriously don't know what MM was thinking when they made this poor design choice. This is a game where people are going to make stuff, a ton of stuff, and they're going to make backups of everything. Having such a small storage space makes no sense.

I've never ever got this message. Ever. I have all the dlc (yeah yeah waste of money), aced the entire game and have all the trophies (so i've played a ton of online levels).

When does this pop up?

Do you create much at all Pinkcars?

I suspect that the bulk of the save is from complex/large objects being made and then saved as "my objects". Say it has a tonne of switches and is a really complex shape, is made up of different materials, and is very large, then it takes up more space.

Perhaps they have limited things so that you don't just save half a level as an object, but still, it seems so small when you are doing complex stuff and saving it.

This is especially true I suspect if you build prototypes of objects and then save them to go across to the real levels you are building. In testing levels you can copy and adjust and fiddle as much as you want without it mucking up the previous several hours of design work. Then when you are happy with how the object is preforming, you can capture it in My Objects so it will be caried across in an identical format.

But if you capture too many prototypes, or have many complex ones, then you might start to see this error message.

@Pink Cars: It's when you have a bunch of "Community Objects" and "My Objects"

I don't think trophies would effect this at all.

Good idea, but for now, just delete all the useless community objects you get. I have deleted at least over 9000 of them, is there some way to turn off community objects?2008-12-02 12:49:00

I might be wrong here.. usually am. Will the objects placed in a level still count against your profile in the same way. For example when the message started showing up on mine, I made a little level and just put all the objects I really wanted to keep on that level. I can go back in and copy them later.2008-12-04 13:29:00

"My levels" as well as "My objects" are suggested as being too full in the error message. I have no idea though how the two lists relate to each other or how full they make your profile though.

That's why I'd like to see some sort of in game indicator of how much stuff is taxing your profile limit. An item in my items could give some read out, a level could give another, costumes another again. I don't know how one would implement it exactly, but it's not my job to work out the details, just make the suggestion.

My guess is that My objects would be more taxing than My levels, but I have no idea at the moment how that's the case.

Yes that would be nice. I think you should only be limited by what storage capacity you have and that should include the option of saving objects on a flash drive. For now though I guess putting object on a level, locking it and then publishing it would provide a temporary storage solution although might not be complete safe from loss.2008-12-04 14:13:00
