Just played it.

I like the ice levels. They remind me of the snow levels on the NES SM Bros. game. The ice makes for a good challenge. Great use of the sackbot. I enjoyed the function of the ice shooter (L1), but didn't find a use for the rainbow (L2). It was cool though! Also, I wasn't sure what the purpose of the bubbles glass thin layer on the part where you have to navigate up the ice steps (toward the end). This made it difficult to see myself and added unneeded difficulty that was frustrating (for me at least). Other than that it was a fun "Demo" to play. I look forward to playing a full-length level!

ed it,
J

Played your level and I enjoyed it

Pros: Good visuals, a bit challenging, original, and colorful.

What I enjoyed the most was the visuals. I was amazed on how well you did with the theme and adding the rainbow effect put the cherry on top, yet it had no purpose but from what you just posted, you will give it a reason. I found it to be funny that eve was the enemy, but I did not understand why lol.

Cons: when shooting a ice ball, it seems to not complete the shot when you hold on to R1. I can help you fix that right now i'm making a level where you shoot stuff and I made it to where you can hold the button and still fire without it causing that glitch. I cant explain it through text though lol so if you ever see me on just ask to join me and ill show you. Also there is this part of the level where it is too confusing to see where you're jumping. It's a platforming area with a layer of ice blocking the view. It wasn't that annoying, but it sure was inconvenient. Thats about it though, i'm not that picky lol.

Thanks I really appreciate that review. I've just updated the level to version 1.5 which uses the rainbow power for a reason you'll just have to play and see , made the climbing section a bit easier and put a little more story into it.

Im curious to see how you fixed that R1 problem feel free to f/r me

Keep the reviews coming (: and review my other level Love Hearts, i think you'll enjoy that.

Sounds fun, I'll give it a shot when I can(:
As for the F4F, I need more feedback on SuperSlugSlayer than I do Metroid, but either will do :b

Thanks(:
I've played your level, too. I personally was not a big fan, but then again I can be a harsh critic.. xD
I know there're people who'd like the slipperiness of the level, but I was never one who liked'em (I hatehateHATEd those Mario levels :B )
The only actual problem I had was the ice gun thingy. While it worked for this particular level for the most part, any future levels will be limited to rightward-only progress as well. Maybe not a full-on aiming system, but a left-right one for whichever way you moved last. (I can help with that. I'm pretty good with logic :b )
That and the single-shot were it (though it could be an actual feature, it's your choice. I personally like rapid-fire junk, but yeah. haha) as far as problems.
The visuals were pretty good and basic gameplay was doing well, too. Maybe bump up level design a bit (sackbots were great, but I recall some.. dull patches in the level itself) and add a few new gameplay elements? I'm not entirely sure o:
Keep up the good work, improve on what you can/want, and I'm sure this'll turn out grand

I like what you've got here so far. I thought there was one part that was a bit bright (I'm sure you know where I mean) but that's no big deal. As for the right-side-only ice issue that has been mentioned, I think you could fix this pretty easily by making logic that computes which direction, left or right, was last hit. You probably just need to add a left-side emitter, two AND gates, and a direction splitter. Nice job!2011-04-14 03:14:00

I played rated and reviewed it. It looks fantastic. Like the powers you have so far. The X and L1 part had me fumbling a bit to get the projectile to connect with the switch though. Over all it looks great and I look forward to playing the full release.2011-04-15 01:39:00

Thanks for the positive and costructive criticism guys, I have really taken it all aboard.

I've been working extremely hard on it last couple days on the massive version 2.0 update. I don't want to spoil it but, let's just say you can shoot in more than 1 direction ...

But thats just the beginning... All shall be revealed soon enough, stay tuned.

P.S. I'm not sure whether to make them point to shoot or just make it last direction faced. What do you think?
I think last direction faced much easier, but pointing looks cooler haha

The directions really depend on the gameplay. From the version I played, two-directional might be better suited, but it depends on what later versions are intended to include.
Maybe even two weapons? One bidirectional, one omnidirectional. I dunno, man. Your choice :b

I've made it two-directional, and whatever last faced, much easier to use it that way for enemies, puzzles...

I also ran into some problems with the movie camera in 2.0 version you might have to wait a little longer.
