Wireless Logic...ummmm

Archive: 3 posts

One of the things in the game I'm still not quite understanding is wireless logic, even after reading a couple of threads and watching comph's vids, I'm just not grasping the basics of how to use this is certain circumstances.

I'll use what Im working on as an example. I've got a sequenced cutscene that I'd like to emit (for thermo reasons) and there's a piston movement triggered via a battery on the sequencer. I could emit the sequencer along with the set, but that doesn't help me learn anything. Whats the way to get a non emitted sequencer transmit a signal to an emitted mechanic...?

If you could explain in the simplest terms possible, in fact pretend (?) I'm an alien. I've seen it semi-explained already and my brain still is having none of it....(sigh)

I assume you are using batteries in the sequencer, correct?

So firstly replace batteries with tags and change label of them to "piston 1", etc.

Then place one tag sensor per piston tweaked with their maximum range to cover whole area.

Then tweak sensors Output Value to signal strength instead of Closeness (so the sensor detects analogue value of tag instead of how far the tag is).

With each piston change the tag sensors label to label which you want to be able to control that piston.

Now when the tag sensor is activated by sequencer the corresponding tag sensor will activated which will then activate your piston.
