Pockets o'Bombs - The Mill

My first full level in LBP 2. The level is played entirely through a sackbot. The special skill I have applied to the sackbots is the ability to emit a custom bomb - hence the title "Pockets o' Bombs." The player will use these bombs along with the standard grabinator to toss the bombs into/at various obstacles in order to progress. Each bomb will detonate after three bounces or if the player presses O. To emit the bomb, press L1. I have made it so it is possible to play with four players, but there are no guarantees that it will be a smooth ride.

Other than that, it is a standard LBP platformer. Have fun and please let me know if you have any suggestions/critiques. At least for one player, the gameplay should be balanced. Let me know if there is too much slowdown. I have edited the music down to reduce the notes but there are still instances where slowdown occurs.

A dificult creation thats not worth the effort. I will say its nicely designed and its a really productive game. However the great difficulty wasnt worth the efoort of me finishing it, overall when I finished it I felt no sense of acomplishment, just a sense of a waste of my time, but I'm glad that you put in the time and effort to create such a creation. I'm sorry if I'm being negative but when I'm playing games I like to have fun and be entertained, not the complete opisite. Its a great game for people looking for a challenge and I like a challange but this was pushing it way too much for my taste, but I can tell you are a very talented creator and I'm sure you will create great things in the futere.2011-04-10 06:28:00

Played it and left my mark there.

It's difficult, but very well made. There's a lot of moments that almost had me cussing, but I knew if I just preserved, I'd get through it. There isn't really any penalties that turned me off, and most of it was just tricky platforming. I actually like how the bombs didn't IMMEDIATELY blow me up upon impact and bounced around a few times, but the learning curve is rather high. I'd like to see the same mechanics used in a simpler, less busy level. Not necessarily easy mode, but more puzzle oriented.

actually, just make more like this. I actually like the challenge. hehe ^^

There are certain things I still want to tweak to balance the gameplay. The amount of things going on at once, especially with all of the sackbot spawn points set up, makes editing a big pain. This level is really my test with sackbots and the whole bomb emitting mechanics. I initially had numerous challenges set up that required the player to bounce the bomb on certain sensors in a specific order. Those challenges were definitely frustrating and I went with the pipes "sucking" the bombs to assist the player so as to not require really precise throws.

My creations definitely go through phases. My first few are really ambitious and technical and end up on the difficult side. As I go on, I achieve a greater balance. Hopefully I can set some time aside and get started on another level. I have almost completed a vs/battle level with the bomb throwing mechanics of this level. I just love the ability to emit/throw/bounce and detonate the bombs. A race level would be fun too with players sabotaging each other.

Its a great gameplay idea, but I found it really tricky, and barely made it past the first obstacle. At the first magnet, I got the bomb up there without realising that was what i was supposed to do, when i replayed it, i knew what i had to do and couldn't do it. I dunno if there's a knack to it that I'm just not getting or if you left absolutely no margin for error in timing the bombs, but its hard. I also got stumped at the first fiery bounce pad, which I couldn't solve no matter what I tried. I do love levels like this, but had trouble here. Hints please!2011-04-11 11:41:00

It is likely that you are not jumping and throwing your bombs and are not getting enough height. The bombs' tracking makes throwing them into the pipes relatively forgiving but I didn't want it to be too easy. It may be that you just keep getting REALLY unlucky and keep throwing "just" between the emitting holograms that the bomb tracks.

Anyways, I edited a lot of the obstacles in regards to their timing. Though still challenging, their window for safe travel has been increased. Also, adjusted the fire coming out of the boss's mouth to be more obvious.

yea i have No idea wat everyone in this thread is talking about in terms of the difficulty. the difficulty was fine in my opinion. i didn't get bogged down anywhere where id make an entire post complaining about it lol. so i'm gonna guess its lack of skill level cus i dont profess to be a pro or anything. the only thing i would suggest is possibly making the sackbot grab the bomb immediately after u spawn it as opposed to spawning it and making them grab it themselves. im sure u could program the bot to be able to grab regular things as well as the bomb wen it spawns, like multiple inputs to R1 or sumthing? like plugging the L1 output into R1 And the bomb spawn? just a thought. don't adjust anything difficulty wise, not hard at all. these peeps are the anomalies, not the peeps who finish it. fun *** level, gj2011-04-12 06:27:00
