Your most epic LBP fail?

Archive: 24 posts

Today I realized I spent a month working on a level for a crown contest, and somehow erased the level tag that was required for entry. So, my level was never entered.

FAIL.

rule #10: the pursuit of a crown is futile. create because you enjoy.

What's your latest/best moment of stupidity in LBP?

Hm...it would have to be trying to operate a mePod that I got. I messed up a missed a step (A circuit board connection, for the curious.). I wondered why it wasn't working!2011-04-10 00:33:00

Making my "a level that plays itself 4 player" level copyable so Stephany Ravens could pull thousands of hearts from it. Ha band her a**. also accidentally leaving half the dragon slayer series copyable over night. No one has republished it though thank goodness.2011-04-10 08:58:00

Making something very complex with complex logic and after spending hours on it, realizing that it could be done on a much easier way. -_-2011-04-10 09:07:00

Hiding half the objects in my level to try and unhide one thing. And then having to leave the level without saving changes to get it all to show up again, and then redo all my work. And I'm still not done with the level. (At least I know the button now.)2011-04-10 15:02:00

It was the last days of LBP1 (well, people thought so as November 16th was coming), and I only had 1 trophie left until Platinum. It was the "Create"-trophy. This was before I wanted or even cared about the platinum trophy, I had about 48 hearts on my levels. But I wanted a fresh start to LBP2 so I deleted them all (to be honest, they were all kinda' crappy IMO) so I deleted them all. A day after I saw my trophie-list and suddenly wanted to get platinum. Well, yeah... I had 2 hearts left to platinum, but I deleted them all.

That lead to another thing. I now needed 50 hearts on my levels so I was making this mexican jump-themed level to get them. It was pretty good though, and I wanted some feedback. So I invited this guy to test it all (in Create Mode). He pulls this switch without me noticing it all and I save it. Next time I tried to play, the scoreboard had lag'd up so you couldn't clear the level. Awsh, what a shame. I stopped trying after that.

Ouch, yes, this stings. I heard about some drama like this, didn't realize you were on the other end of it... must have been while I was gone.

What's it do? I'm sort of lost in those wires.
My fail moment: Trying to figure out why ALL my logic disappeared, only to realize I was in preview mode.

Not really a fail, more of an annoyance. Putting down logic, works. Then it just randomly stops working, so have to keep taking it out and putting in a new connection but the same way 2011-04-11 17:13:00

One time I tried one of my levels in create mode, and then forgot to "regret" before I left. When I played it the next day, none of the machiery worked, and I couldn't regret. I still haven't fixed it since. 2011-04-11 17:25:00

Its a really complex system for scrolling both ways though a selector, after building it i realized connected the stick input to cycle the selector works just the same.

Oh. I've heard of a lot of people doing that.
Not one of my fail moments, but a "freind"s: He was desperately trying to make a XOR gate, not realizing thats what an XOR gate is. His microchip was HUGE, it had tons of logic going every which way. I joined him and he showed me, trying to see if I was impressed, I asked him if I could show him something, he said "Yeh". I deleted that massive wall of logic and stuck an XOR gate in it's place. He was so mad at me for (In his words) "Showing him up and making him look stupid." he deleted me.

Gah.... I can hardly sit through this!

A week ago I was about to finish a movie level id been making for a few weeks. Soon enough my friend joined me to test it, and we started up the movie in play mode.
Before I noticed, I had set various sackbots in the background of some scenes to copy the 1,2,3 and fourth player's costumes, to add some interactivity. Since my friend was wearing the "Ghostbusters" Costume pack, and he entered my level as the second player, it set a few sackbot costumes to wear his costume, which had the content that I didnt have in it. So now I have a big, useless, unfinished level on my moon, all because of the stupid costume glitch pack. -_-

Also, in the middle of consturction for "Crazy Canyons", the level overheated. I was freaking out because before I had made the next section, it was only half way up the thermomiter.
It turns out the entire level was glued so tightly together, it treated it as one big object, and when I attacheed the next section, it got too big and overheated.
However, this was a easy-ish fix, because my friends were there to help! (Thanks FIshrock, Tanrockstan, and Prattz! )

When I first got LBP2, I experimented by making a logic-filled spaceship, and it became sooooo complex.
Then it was destroyed by my ignorant ignorance, by not saving before heading out to get a burger.
*face palm*
I am such an ignoramus sometimes!

Heh, I played lbp1 for a year and a half, and only tried the corner editor briefly. For some reason I wasn't impressed with it, so I made all my stuff without. Dummy me.

Well, I tried it again and now it's one of my favorite tools.

• When I'm trying to make extremely precise measurements, then testing it after hours of work only to find some sort of unknown bug that screws things up by like 1/100th of a pixel.
• Taking a very long time to make an incredible pod, drowning in the success and forgetting to save it. This is especially aggrivating with the sticker placing bugs that place stickers and decorations in inaccurate spots.
• Doing some kind of risky and/ or time consuming activity(ies), eventually getting your profile cleaned due to some freak accident or glitch.
• Entering a contest of the sort and doing it wrong without knowing until the very end. Ouch.
• Spending a long time typing something in and accidentally deleting it.
• Spending a long time typing something up and no one caring.
• Unintentionally deleting something. To this day I gingerly delete things. 4 second pauses do the trick.
- This one was actually devestating to me at the time, but I guess we can all laugh about it now.. I decided to make a lengthy blog for the first time on LBPC. I had recently assumed the meaning of a word my friend had previously mentioned. The dialogue was something like this:

Me: I'm going to be LBPFamous, you know?

Friend: Oh yeah? Well I'm going to be LBPInfamous!

Me: Holy freggen' crap! *appauled*

I decided to sport my newfound vocab publicly, using it as my main word in said blog. The title wasn't shy of embarassing..
"On The Path to Infamy!"

Soon a wandering troll stumbled upon my long blog and copy/ pasted the exact definition of the word. He also wished me luck.. Online sarcasm. It's sOOOOooooOoo hard to teeeeeeEEEeell.

.. Farfle farfle..
