E3 2011 - is now!!! (Heavily stuffed with trailers)

Archive: 151 posts

Just like every time a big gaming appointment arrives, I get excited.
E3 will blow up in early June (around the 6th if my mind doesn't fails me).
Even if it's not the E3 we used to know years ago, it's still one of the 3 most exciting moments of the year for every gamer.

News have already started to leak.
According to this site (http://www.hookedgamers.com/blogs/chrispriestman/2011/04/06/rumor_leaked_details_of_sony_e3_2011_lineup.html) French Sony employee seems to have spilled some beans in some forums.

That's the stuff

#1 Sony will confirm the official name, pricing and release date of the NGP
#2 There will be 7 first party titles revealed for the NGP
#3 Hideo Kojima?s NGP project likely to be Peace Walker
#4 The Wipeout engine has been perfectly ported over to the NGP and you can expect the release of the game in the first quarter of the NGP?s launch
#5 Chance of another Metal Gear game on its way in the future

#6 There are 37 titles in the working for Sony platforms, but most will not be revealed until a European event (likely Gamescom)
#7 Sony will reveal titles that will not be available until Christmas 2012 at E3
#8 Santa Monica Studios will be on board, but don't expect much more information about the title (potentially next God of War title)

#9 A sequel to Warhawk will be revealed before E3
#10 2 PS3 exclusives won?t be presented at E3 but will be available before the end of the year in Europe
#11 Twisted Metal, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3 and The Last Guardian will be playable at E3

#12 Polyphony Digital are returning with a new title before March 2012
#13 Polyphony would like to make Europe a privilege for its next title. ?Please don't underestimate their work even if they deceived some of you.?

#14 A Rockstar game, probably GTA V, could be released before Agent was planned to be

#15 A third party title is in a ?big battle? with Sony. The developers seem to be Bungie, so the game would be their next project with Activision.

Besides the fact that this year is already a really impressive one, what are the news you know and your expectations.

Yeah, sure. -_-

A new GTA announcement sounds about right, it seems to be that time. I, like many others, are expecting a return to good ol' Vice City!

Well, a superbike game wouldn't be too difficult to pull out once the engine and stuff is all done.
But as someone else said, I'd go nuts on an Omega Boost sequel.

GTAV...I would really do a Shangai-Beijing based game.

I'm not that excited about new hardware.
Not even for the NGP (especially the NGP)
I bought a PSP to never play it, since gaming is something I generally associate it with sofa, loud speakers, big tv and relax.
So cool games on portable (Peace Walker, Monster Hunter, the 2 God Of War...) get me a bit down.

Personally I'm interested a lot in how the home gaming evolve, what it pushes forward, what the new mechanics will be, how devs treats story.
I'm one of those who blames multiplayer for spoiling games of emotion.
So, I'm looking for all those games with a potential good story.

BUT....

Will Duke Nukem: Forever be released?

That's gonna be out BEFORE E3, methinks (and so will Twisted Metal I thought?...).

Personally, I think the Sony conference is gonna consist mostly of "we're better than the 360 AND Wii for the 4th straight year in a row" and have a million statistics on the PS3's sales and content.

BUT... I have a gut feeling that Kevin Butler might be heading this conference, so fingers-crossed.

I wish.... Then again, Sony did use LBP for their conference.

*Crosses fingers for Kevin Butler using LBP2 to present the conference.*

Early E3 "leaks" have had mixed results. Usually when there's a long list of items, it's either incredibly vague or already assumed to be announced. A lot of times they've been proven to be fabricated. I wouldn't put too much credence in early "leaks".2011-04-10 17:09:00

You sure the Rockstar game their talking about isn't LA Noire?

Thats out a month before E3 so I doubt it'll be at E3. Also it's being co-developed with Team Bondi, I'm not sure how much work Rockstar are putting into it or which of their studios is doing that work.

The Agent is a Rockstar North production which is the same studio that does the main GTA entries.

Yeah, they're filed under rumors for a valid reason.
Still, this list is not too bombastic and could very well be likely.
I really expect Sony to do the same as the last year, it worked great and it will work great this time too.

I seriously hope for some new interesting IP.
I like most sci-fi and fantasy more than gritty real life things, but Sony won't ever surprise me with stuff like that, and I think that their character design is what is keeping them late in the US market, since it doesn't appeal the majority of the US teenagers that favours more stuff like Gears Of War than Uncharted.
When Sony goes fantasy, it goes either Ratchet & Clank - ish or doesn't go.

Do you know what I think would be awesome? A remake of GTA: London. Done kinda Guy Ritchie style, y'know?

Since Rockstar North are a British based developer, I know they would make an amazing job of it!

While I loved Lock & Stock and The Snatch, I think that a big Eastern metropoly may offer more varied kind of settings and more different social and economic backgrounds.
That was the only interesting stuff behind "True Crime".

And what is important is that they have to do a lot, since other GTA-likes like Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's Creed raised the bar.

I merged 2 nice articles by VG247.

Here?s a breakdown of E3 2011′s main press conferences and what to expect from them. Put these dates in your diary now.

Konami ? Thursday, June 2 ? E3′s first main event, half-a-week before it actually kicks off.

In terms of core action last year, Konami gave us a date for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, the first story details of MGS: Rising and teased Silent Hill: Downpour for the first time.

This year you?ll see more on Downpour and hopefully a date. Kojima will undoubtedly be the star attraction, with MGS: Rising, MGS 3DS and his NGP project all on show. Dreamers can keep hoping for a Zone of the Enders 3 reveal.

Could we also see a Mercury Steam-led Castlevania sequel? We might. Last we heard, plans were at an advanced stage, so don't be too surprised if it's teased.

Microsoft ? Monday, June 6: 9am PST, 12pm EST, 5pm BST, 6pm CET, 3am Sydney (Tuesday June 6) ? The first of the platform holders

Microsoft?s E3 thrust was Kinect last year. Launching the motion device permeated everything the company did at the show. Its press conference was relatively light on core material, but we did get Black Ops and a Call of Duty DLC exclusivity agreement, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Halo Reach, Fable III and Gears of War 3, as well as the announcement of Codename Kingdom from Microsoft Game Studios and Crytek and the 360 Slim reveal.

From there on out, it was Kinect city. Don?t expect things to have changed too much this year. Kinect will play a very important role in Microsoft?s E3 conference ? it would need to, what with 10 million sales worldwide since last November ? but the question is whether or not the company will start pushing core content for the device in earnest. We?re going to bet on the affirmative.

There?s going to be a lot of Kinect stuff. Expect new services, new games from Rare, Dance Central 2 and maybe even the MGS Vancouver core shooter.

Motion aside, expect a demo of the still-unannounced Modern Warfare 3, and most likely an extension to that DLC deal that was announced last year, which saw MS tie up Black Ops? first two map packs as timed exclusives.

You?ll almost certainly get Gears of War 3, Metal Gear Solid: Rising, Forza Motorsport 4 and, hopefully, more on Kingdom.

Last year?s MGS: Rising E3 trailer.
And isn?t it about time we seen what 343 Industries is doing with Halo outside of Waypoint and map packs for Halo Reach? This is the series? 10th anniversary after all. We?re going long: you?ll get a first look at the next Halo game.

Of course, all of this is easily guessable. The big question is whether or not Microsoft will bring the all-important super-nuke. With Rockstar likely to show Agent for the first time in the Sony conference this year, could GTA V get its reveal here as part of a Microsoft deal? Don?t bet against it.

EA: Monday, June 6 ? 12:30pm PST, 3:30pm EST, 8:30pm BST, 9:30pm CET, 6:30am Sydney ? The first of the main third-parties

Last year, EA gave everyone a look at Dead Space 2, Medal of Honor, Crysis 2, Bulletstorm and more info on Star Wars: The Old Republic, making it undoubtedly the strongest publisher conference of E3 for the core.

This will, again, be the main third-party publisher conference for the show.

The key focus will be Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3. The DICE-helmed main competitor to this year?s Call of Duty is shaping up very nicely: look for a final release date and timing on that multiplayer beta for Medal of Honor players.

A Mass Effect 3 release date? We?re going to bet on gamescom for that. The RPG was recently pushed out into the first quarter of 2012, so we?ve got a little way to go yet.

All eyes will be on BioWare for another reason this year: a release date for The Old Republic. The MMO, being made in Austin, is seen as the strongest threat to World of Warcraft on the market. A release date announcement is likely, but it may be in the first calendar quarter of 2012.

Count on appearances as well from Need for Speed: The Run and Kingdoms of Amalur. EALA has confirmed it's working on a new Medal of Honor title, but this may still be too early. Whatever the game is, it's almost certainly going to be aimed at holiday 2012. It?d be great to see a tease, though.

On the EA Sports side, expect confirmation and details on its Persistent ID system as well as showings of SSX and its next fighting title, most likely to be MMA going by the two-year dev cycles between it and Fight Night. EA chose gamescom to showcase FIFA last year, and we?re guessing it's a formula it's going to stick to.

The Caf? reveal will be the biggest story of E3 2011 by a country mile. History in the making. A once in a generation teraton ? a new Nintendo console
As for EA Partners, expect new announcements under new EAP boss Brian Neider: barring some kind of spacetime disaster, expect Starbreeze?s Syndicate reboot to be announced.

There are some other big possibilities from EAP. It wouldn?t be a far reach to expect a first glimpse of Insomniac?s first multi-plat game, but the clocks will stop if Zampella and West decide to reveal the first Respawn game this year. It's supposed to be further out than the Insomniac title, but we love the drama: don't blink.

Ubisoft: Monday, June 6 ? 2:30pm PST, 5:30pm EST, 10:30pm BST, 11:30pm CET, 8:30am Sydney

Ubisoft?s had mixed showings at previous E3 press conferences. The content?s there but there are undeniable presentation ?issues,? which resulted last year in a bizarre game of laser tag. Oddities aside, however, Ubisoft?s 2011 event is likely to be the strongest we?ve seen from the company in many years.

Child of Eden was fully unveiled last year, and we got to see Assassin?s Creed: Brotherhood, an announcement for Driver: San Francisco and Michael Jackson: The Experience. As well as infamous light-based pew-pew thing.

Assassin?s Creed: Revelations will be a big deal for Ubi this year, but it may not be the centrepiece: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is most likely the publisher?s main event, and you should expect plenty of pomp. It's the series?s 10th anniversary, and if you look carefully you can be reading between the lines at this point.

We?ll get another look at Driver: San Francisco and most likely more on From Dust.

We also haven?t see Rayman Origins since last E3. Time for Michel Ancel to show us it again? And speaking of Ancel, what about BG&E2? Ubisoft insists its still in development, but beyond its Ubidays 2008 teaser ? and possibly a leaked demo from E3 two years ago ? we?ve seen nothing on it for three years.

And of course, there?s Ubisoft Toronto. It's well known that the studio, headed by ex-Assassin?s Creed boss Jade Raymond, is working on a new Splinter Cell game with Conviction devs Maxime Beland and Alex Parizeau. We?d go as far as to say this is a likely hit.

And there?s that little thing called Far Cry 3. How about it, Ubisoft Montreal?

BG&E2. It's a real thing.
Word to the wise: be watching the Ubisoft conference carefully. Expect a few shocks.

Sony: Monday, June 6 ? 5pm PST, 8pm EST, 1am BST, 2am CET, 11am Sydney

Last year, Sony went overboard on 3D and Move, resulting in less stage time for the likes of Gran Turismo 5.

inFamous 2 got its first proper trailer, Gabe Newell announced Portal 2 and Steamworks support for PS3, Twisted Metal was unveiled (despite denials from David Jaffe he was working on it) and Kevin Butler appeared on stage.

This year, unfortunately, it's about damage control for Sony.

Tragically, a 2011 that looked so promising for PS3 in terms of software ? Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2, inFamous 2, the ICO and SotC HD remixes, The Last Guardian, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 were all slated for 2011 shipping ? the company will be on the back-foot from the start of its press conference as a result of the ongoing PSN blackout.

We?re really going to see what Jack?s made of this time.

Thankfully, Sony has a huge amount of interest to discuss. Its press conference will most certainly be seen as a step in regaining trust from PSN users, but will also play host to some major software showcases and, of course, details on NGP?s launch.

This will be the first main showing of Sony?s next-generation handheld since its January unveil in Tokyo. Expect its full proper name ? we?ve placed ?1 million on PSP2 ? pricing, worldwide launch dates and new games from both first- and third-parties.

Kojima?s NGP project will be shown, we?ll see more of Uncharted and there?s bound to be a great deal more. NGP will be one of E3′s major stories.

Also expect a Final Fantasy bonanza from Square Enix. A new FFXIII-2 trailer is probable, as is formal confirmation of a release date for FFXIV on PS3 and western releases of Type 0 and Versus XIII.

Considering the former is releasing in Japan sometime this summer and the latter is likely for a 2012 launch in Japan, we reckon you could be looking at spring 2012 for Type 0. Versus?s release is a bit of a mystery at this point, but hopefully we?ll get a proper update.

Sony?s major third-party ticket, though, is expected to be Rockstar?s Agent. Tretton announced this as a PS3 exclusive in 2009, so the time?s right. If this does happen, expect a multiple warhead warning and distribution of free sunglasses.

The main first-party headliners will be Uncharted 3, Resistance 3 and The Last Guardian. Naughty Dog?s already promising special things for the show. Both R3 and U3 have already been dated for September and November respectively, but with TLG delayed from its original holiday 2011 launch to a likely early 2012 release, expect a proper demo and a launch timeframe.

Quantic Dream?s been hinting at an E3 announce for its next game, which is to be published by Sony. David Cage?s studio is working on two titles at the moment, with the last rumour being that the next one is a sci-fi love story, although Cage has denied it.

We may even hear what Sony Santa Monica is up to following the release of God of War III, although it's unlikely. God of War IV? Almost certainly. Definitely going to see something? Really not. Probably next year for this.

Obviously, expect to hear more on the second round of Move titles. What they are, we don't know.

And Kevin Butler will show up in a diamond limo that was bought by the PSN info leak (we kid).

PROJECT CAF?

Nintendo will announce Wii?s successor, Project Caf?, in its E3 press conference this year, marking the true start of the next hardware round. Current rumours include touch-screen controllers, no HD, 8Gb of internal memory and tons more. It?ll ship next year.
If Tretton plays his cards right and is suitably humble about what?s happened this year with PSN, the sheer strength of Sony?s hardware and software offering could make 2011 a golden E3 year for the company.

Nintendo ? Tuesday, June 7: 9am PST, 12pm EST, 5pm BST, 6pm CET, 3am Sydney (that?s Wednesday, June 8 in Australia)

This is boom-time, baby.

After three consecutive underwhelming E3 press conferences ? Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M ? Nintendo finally came out top last year with plenty of core content for Wii and DS and a terrific 3DS unveiling.

This year, Nintendo will launch the next hardware generation proper.

Nintendo is set to announce its next-gen Wii successor, codenamed Project Caf?, in Los Angeles on June 7. There?s been so much rumour on the machine, but very little is really known other than its 2012 launch.

Nintendo is apparently looking to recapture core attention this time, so you may well see Caf? games that don't fit with the traditional Nintendo image. You may actually see a gun.

It's all going to be about Caf? and 3DS this time. In terms of Wii, we don't quite know what to expect other than Zelda, although a new Kirby title for the platform was announced back in January.

And maybe we?ll finally see confirmation of a western release for Mistwalker?s The Last Story? Pandora?s Tower? Will we ever get more details on the Vitality Sensor? We?ll know soon.

Expect to see 3DS comes into its own in terms of software, as the handheld?s ?launch window? ends. There?s bound to be a final look at Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D before its June 17 EU launch, as well as dates for Starfox, Kid Icarus and Mario Kart.

We?ll also get to see Super Mario 3DS for the first time, following a GDC tease by Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata.

Expect to see some massive third-party stuff for 3DS, too. We?re still to see a western release date for Capcom?s Resident Evil: Mercenaries ? it launches on June 2 in Japan. And what about Metal Gear Solid 3DS: Snake Eater? This was due to drop in spring, but sort of hasn?t.

For God?s sake don't miss this, though. The Caf? reveal will be the biggest story of E3 2011 by a country mile. History in the making. A once in a generation teraton ? a new Nintendo console.

We?ll have exhaustive coverage on the day.
----------------------------
Following a look at what to expect from E3 2011′s press conferences last week, we today move onto the stage-averse third-parties. Take it away, Big Bobby.

Activision ? We?re going to see Bungie?s new IP, right? It's unlikely. Bungie already said it's not going to be in LA, so unless a teaser?s shown at any of the press conferences, it's a no.

Activision?s show is all about Modern Warfare 3. Expect details Beachhead?s Call of Duty involvement as well.

We?ll definitely get a further look-in at Prototype 2, Spiderman: Edge of Time and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Activision?s E3 won?t include a music game this year, so there?ll be nothing from Guitar Hero or DJ Hero.

In addition, True Crime: Hong Kong has been canned and Tony Hawk been put on ice: expect the latter to be back next year, though.

As for Blizzard, it tends to skip E3. Look for your fill of Diablo III and potentially news on Titan at either gamescom or Blizzcon in October.

The first look of the second part of the StarCraft II arc, the Zerg-based Heart of the Swarm, will be shown to media later this month.

Take-Two ? Expect Take-Two to go large at E3 this year. In the week where Duke Nukem Forever will finally release after more than a decade in development, the publisher will have some of its 2K core line-up on show, including BioShock Infinite, X-Com and maybe even Spec Ops: The Line, which we haven?t seen much of since its VGAs announce in 2009.

Rockstar may show Max Payne 3 and possibly the PS3-exclusive Agent, but the big one is Grand Theft Auto V. It's highly likely we?ll see GTA V announced at the show, and it may well be Microsoft?s press conference gigaton, assuming it's tied up another exclusive DLC announcement.

Expect to see first official mention of Borderlands 2. Is it for a holiday 2011 release? Who knows. But Pitchford and co will be lining this one up for LA. Watch for it.

THQ ? Going on THQ?s showing last year, expect surprises. What?ll appear, exactly, is a bit of a mystery as yet. inSane? Doubtful. Devil?s Third? Maybe. Darksiders 2? Likely. Metro: Last Light and the next UFC iteration? Dead set.

You?ll definitely get Saints Row: The Third, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, MMO Dark Millennium, a promised reboot to the main WWE series and more.

THQ has other unannounced possibilities, such as Patrice Desilets? new IP at THQ Montreal or Relic?s new strategy title, although that?s being announced in August. That?ll be Cologne, then.

Still, watch Danny closely. LA?s home turf for the studio head, and he loves to showboat.

Bethesda ? The publisher is in the middle of its strongest year ever. Brink is out now, and Hunted will launch on E3 week. The company?s key titles at the LACC will undoubtedly be Skyrim, RAGE and Prey 2. Expect Skyrim to pick up a ton of Game of the Show awards, going by what we saw in Utah at Bethesda?s pre-E3 event in April.

In terms of announcements? Bethesda didn?t reveal anything at E3 last year, instead just issuing new media for already announced titles like RAGE, Brink and Fallout: New Vegas.

That said, isn?t it time we heard what Arkane was up to? ?And Tango too,? we hear you shout. No chance on that: PR boss Pete Hines told us on the phone back in January that Mikami?s next was very far out. And id? The studio will have RAGE, but announcements? No: a DOOM 4 announce, if any, will be kept for Quakecon.

Despite past form, there are two major announcement possibilities from Bethesda: the next Fallout game, and the heavily rumoured Elder Scrolls MMO.

Bethesda said in March it would open a customer service centre in Galway for ZeniMax Online, which has been working on an online game for years. It may well be time for a reveal.

Square Enix ? Squeenix is expected to be a force in LA this year, both in terms of Japanese and western output.

On the Japanese side, you?re going to most likely get Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy XIV PS3 and confirmation of western launches of Final Fantasy Type-0 and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Outside FF, there?s Kingdom Hearts 3DS too.

Arguably, though, the firm?s western line-up is the place to be. Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Hitman: Absolution and Tomb Raider will be there, with hopefully a release timeframe for Lara?s latest.

And announcements? Square has an announcement in some form every year. E3 ?08: FFXIII 360. E3 ?09: FFXIV PS3. E3 ?10: the full reveal of Deus Ex to press. This year? Versus XIII 360? FFXV? FFVII remake? Thief 4? Take your pick.

Namco Bandai ? Don?t expect too many announcements from Namco after its Level Up event in Dubai, but the firm will have a strong show regardless.

Dark Souls, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, Ridge Racer: Unbounded, Inversion and western releases of Tales of Graces F and Tales of the Abyss are bound to be re-trumpeted at the show.

We?ll also get a first proper look at Soul Calibur V at E3, following its Dubai announcement.

On the Tekken side, maybe confirmation of a console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2? It's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Capcom ? Capcom has announcements practically every month. Don?t expect E3 to pass by with the company sticking its oar in. Quite what they?ll be is unknown, however.

In terms of what Capcom will show, expect the usual suspects from Captivate: Street Fighter x Tekken and SSFIV Arcade Edition, Dragon?s Dogma, Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City, Resident Evil: Mercenaries and Revelations, Asura?s Wrath and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record.

There?s also a couple of games we haven?t seen in a while too. Where?s Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor? And where?s Ninja Theory?s DmC? We?ll hopefully find out next month.

Sega ? Sega?s a bit trickier to predict. There?s Captain America and Rise of Nightmares for Kinect as well as Avalanche?s Renegade Ops, which is due out in summer.

Platinum?s Anarchy Reigns and Binary Domain from Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi are more interesting: the latter?s now been confirmed for the show.

Creative Assembly?s just announced an Alien title, but that?s only just kicked off, so don't expect much more on that for a while.

Besides the fact that this year is already a really impressive one, what are the news you know and your expectations.

Seems like most of those predictions already got true.
I will start updating with trailers.

So, the Kinect press conference...I mean Microsoft...not so good. A couple good games, not Kinect games, the rest was not interesting to me at all. I like my motion gaming with a controller so i can actually move the character.2011-06-06 19:12:00

Wow the microsoft one was horrible. They've even gone as far as ruining franchises like Fable. Oh dear. Only true hard core exclusive seemed to be Halo 4.

Looking forward to the Nintendo and Sony one.

I'm definitely disappointed in Microsoft for the second year in a row. A few years ago, they touted a bunch of RPGs, but most of them ended up being not so great. I don't really care for the types of hardcore games that are exclusive to the Xbox. I do think the Kinect technology is interesting and has a lot of potential, but the software for it is lackluster. However, there is the also fact that I like controlling where my character goes and when. This has me seriously thinking about not getting the next generation of the console-it just does not appeal to the type of gamer that I am.2011-06-06 21:18:00

Am I the only one here who think Halo should just die? Honestly, Call Of Duty is one of the most bashed on series because of its popularity, yet Halo fans protect Halo as "It's a trilogy! It's epic!" Bungie and Activision are no different from each other; they're milking these things to death.2011-06-06 21:21:00

Overstrike is gonna be awwwwwesome. Love the characters and humor and visual style, it's got Insomniac written all over it. I just hope it isn't going to be an FPS. :x2011-06-06 21:31:00

Overstrike looks like another Insomniac hit! I'm glad Xbox players can enjoy the game company's awesomeness.
Speaking of which, Microsoft's part was pretty poor. Halo 4, Fable aaaand er... not much else. The Star Wars Kinect should be focused more on Force powers, rather than Lightsabers. That's clearly Move territory! It looks awful and not much seems to be different from what they showed last year! Silly.

Looking forward to Media Molecul- I mean... Sony's conference... (Hopefully the new handheld will have some decent games unlike the PSP, which only had a few)

I am a big fan of Insomniac but that Overstrike trailer did nothing for me, I want to see some gameplay! Still, I like the sound of 4 player co-op, look forward to seeing more.

Bungie have moved on from Halo, Microsoft are doing the milking of the series with 343 Industries as the new developer.

Overstrike is definitely on my watch list. I just hope it doesn't disappoint. Insomniac's style is more of FPS, and this looks like it might be a Team Fortress 2 style game (certain people have abilities, you must do a certain objective, etc.) Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to it.

That, and... Resistance 3!

oh my bad, before i was only talking about the one page i was reading on.
all together what games so far looks good to me is...

Sonic.
Disgara4. not sure it counts as I'm not sure it's gonna be at E3?
Dark souls.
Batman.
Last Guardian.
and after watching the video, Overstrike looks like it may be fun.
have to wait for a video of the gameplay first before i can say for sure tho.

Well, doing nothing but watching the E3 conferences today, i must say i'm pretty impressed with the line up of games that we're going to see in the next year or so, and we haven't even seen Nintendo's yet. Pretty depressing not seeing a Borderlands 2 this time around, when Gearbox came out at the EA conference, (was it EA or ubisoft? can't remember.) We were all hoping for a reveal, buuut, sadly they gave us Brothers in Arms.

Quite suprised that MS ended with Halo 4, i mean c'mon. as if the Halo CE remake wasn't enough, they give us another Halo game? Really? They're not only milking that, but the Kinect aswell, pretty much their entire show was focussed around that, as if there weren't even controllers anymore. Sure, that's what the big corporations will do, but srsly, not everyone has Kinect.

Another thing, did anyone else notice that in all of the conferences there was hardly anyone in the crowd that laughed, clapped or said anything? Am i the only one that noticed that?

And also Me, Clay, Whale, and Kog made endless jokes about the PSVita's 'Rear Touch' functionality.

I wasted money on the move when it was released. I've yet to play a really good game on it. It's cool be it need more software. I was impressed by Dust and Ruins. I think Ruins has huge potential. The vita is a better system then the ps3. I couldn't even imagine what the ps4 would be like but that's to far into the future.

One other thing that caught my ear earlier today was voice command for Mass Effect 3. That would be really fun if used at the right times. Also I may buy an xbox only for gears of war 3.

So far Sony's conference was the best. Tomorrow Nintendo could be huge with the reveal
of project cafe.

i don't call that better. Nintendo DS has touch screen... it's nothing all that great.
sure there were some other small stuff they added too. but from what i've seen it's not really better then Ps3.

This is exactly why its better. Technology now allows us to fit a quad core into a small handheld device. Something the xbox360 could hardly do. and you dont like the small screen? no problem! Just connect it to your PS3 and you can play through your tv. Did you watched the conference or what? XD

Oh my bad, did not notice that... plus my net was acting odd so i missed some small bits.
so you can play on a big screen err? not bad not bad... I'm still not sold on it yet...
but it's better then i was thinking it was before now.
I just hope they find a way so we can transport are levels & stuff back and forth at will from LBP2 and LBP-vita.
i don't want to just play one or the other and have some stuff on one and other stuff on the other.
so hopefully they'll deal with that somehow. plus give LBP2 a big update so it has some of the same stuff as LBPV.

Waking up, reading hundreds of tweets, catching up on the Sony conference and I am one happy fanboy. Looks like Sony wins, again (yeah yeah Nintendo still to come but not too excited, they lost the hardcore with the Wii)! Team ICO confirmed September, Sly 4 revealed, PSVita at a great price with a ton of great stuff in the pipeline, Battlefiled 3, Bioshock Infinite, Need for Speed and more all with exclusive PS3 content. Street Fighter X Tekken on PSVita with Cole from InFamous!!! Uncharted 3 looking bananas!!! I am one happy man right now 2011-06-07 06:49:00

First off I have a question. They didn't talk about how the software is gonna be sold. Are the games gonna be disk based or downloadable games? Also no talk of hard drive which makes me think it's not an issue. So maybe it's all cloud based and we don't have to worry about space. Who knows. Does anyone know? I know today they will have exclusive interviews on G4 TV today and maybe they'll have some more info.

Did you watch the same thing I did lol. That little guy packs a huge punch. The vita is running some nice hardware. Also if your neck hurts plug and play on your ps3. Who knows it may not be better when you put it side by side to a ps3, it's up there though. I think what people are excited for is it's not just a handheld it's going to change what we know of handhelds. It's going to be impossible to get during release, especially during the holidays. It's on everyone's wish list.

What you have to remember is this is not called the psp2. Why? Because the psp sucked. Sure there were some great psp games but overall it was a FAIL. Hey it's not going to be for everyone. But I will say I've never seen more talk of people wanting one of these. This is the first time Sony has had anything in a while that everyone wants. This thing has a ton of cool features, one right of the top of my head that Sony has still failed to deliver to the ps3 is cross game chat.

I was very impressed by the graphics. Even more impressed by the gameplay. It was very smooth. I personally can't wait. I honestly once you start to hear more about it and more specs are released you may change your mind. Or it still may not be for you. Just have to wait and see.

My personal favourite Vita innuendo was during the Mod Nation Racers demo:

NINTENDO JUST ANNOUNCED NEW CONSOLE

it's called...

WII U!

It's pretty cool, it's like a Wii, but so much more stuff you can do on it, pretty awesome.

Nintendo won E3 again.

They seemed to use the phrase "hardcore gaming" a lot when describing the Wii U.

To be honest, I'm not sure I'd like (or even find a use for) switching between my TV screen and my controller. Definitely not on the top of my list, but we'll see.

eh, won you say? it looks like the controller is the only difference between the new system and an Xbox 360 or PS3... sure, i REALLY like the controller, but i still think SONY won...

though i'd be able to play the games online while i am chilling in bed, and that sounds awesome

Yes the Wii U is a new console not just a controller.

I'd have to use it or get some more better details on it to have a real opinion on it right now.

*sigh* Nintendo I used to love you but you seem determined to completely alienate hardcore gamers and instead impress 10 year olds (which, to be fair, has been to your financial benefit). I was not excited for this announcement anyway, Sony has been taking care of me since '95. Oh well, the big N will always have a special place in my heart for all the wonderful memories but since the Gamecube I have moved on.2011-06-07 19:30:00

Wii U console What we know so far.

Console

http://i51.tinypic.com/1237d6u.jpg

IBM Power? multi-core processor. No word on number of cores or clock speed.

GPU – Unspecified, but probably an AMD GPU like the GameCube and Wii.

Backwards compatible with the Wii. GameCube compatibility unspecified.

No Hard Disk Drive.

Built-in flash memory. Size unspecified. Can be extended via SD card or by USB drives.

USB connectivity is four USB 2.0 ports.

Video formats supported: 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i.

Video output: HDMI and Nintendo’s AV Multi-out.

Audio: 6 channel linear PCM via HDMI. (6 channel is likely 5.1 surround.)

Optical Drive: New ‘high density’ format (so not Blu-ray) 12cm optical disks. Will play Wii optical disks. Slot loading as with the current Wii.

Connect up to four Wii remote controls (or Wii remote control pluses). Your nunchucks, classic controllers, classics controller pros and balance boards will all still work.

Controller

http://i52.tinypic.com/28kudc9.jpg

Screen: 6.2 inch, 16:9 widescreen. Resolution unspecified.

Screen is touch-sensitive. Almost certainly resistive, not capacitive.

Stylus is stored in the top edge of the controller like the 3DS.

Buttons: power, Home, d-pad, start, select, A, B, X, Y.

Shoulder buttons: L and R, plus twin triggers ZL and ZR.

Accelerometer and gyro for sensing your waggle.

Rumble/vibrate.

Front-facing camera.

Microphone.

Speakers.

Headphone socket on the top edge.

Looks like a covered AC Adaptor port on the top edge too. No word on the controller’s battery capabilities.

You can also see an expansion port on the bottom edge of the unit in the pictures, similar to that on the Wiimote, though it looks like a different shape. No word about that from Nintendo.

I honestly once you start to hear more about it and more specs are released you may change your mind. Or it still may not be for you. Just have to wait and see.

Well i do want it to be honest... but I'll wait to see if it's really better then PS3...
and i do like that we can plug it in to are TV... is the graphics just as good as a PS3's?
and can it play just as overall high tech games as the PS3?

if so then it is better then PS3... cheaper and smaller. and can be portable if you really need it to be.

Nintendo doesn't need to catch up. They just need to move on. They sold way more units than 360 & ps3 & now they need to have a new console to keep on selling something. 360 with kinect & ps3 with move are the ones trying to catch up or ride coat tails. Other consoles have been copying nintendo ever since they invented the d-pad.

I want what they showed really bad. Problem is when it comes out it may not be as easy to do things they did on stage. On stage it's all set it up perfectly. I still got to see more before I wait in the freezing cold for 3 days. Sony doesn't always deliver what they promise at E3. Basically any product that any company shows before it's released is usually not exactly what we get. Look at the iPhone 4. So great and does everything, I get it home and I had no signal because because apple charged me 500 bucks and u couldn't get a case. That was a huge mess up. I honestly think the back panel on the vita will be a problem. I saw they were talking about how it will be used as r2 and l2 buttons. That means id be hitting those darn buttons all the time by accident. I'm sure they thought of all that but still I want more info, Hard drive, how the games will be sold, does it take a disk. Is it going to cost sixty bucks a month to have it run on 3G.

Bottom line is I love what I saw. I'm still skeptical on what we will get.

Also I don't know if anyone noticed but the ps plus update was horrible this week. I've never seen it that bad. Hmm I wonder why. I figured as much. If Sony was smart they'd do exclusives all month with plus. Then maybe people would love it. Don't get me wrong I've had and loves plus from day one but where's our movies that we were promised last E3?

Back to the Vita. It has huge potential and I hope Sony delivers.

Sony won hands down the lamest E3 in years.
Wii U is not generation, just current generation with slightly better graphics, no third party exclusive, and games that you can play with much better graphics on a PC.

I agree Sony won without question. Looking at it objectively, all fanboyism aside, Sony dominated. I actually do not agree that Wii U has slightly better graphics, nothing they have show so far has suggested that, I think it will have visuals just on par with PS3/360. Nintendo will always have the "holy trinity" (Mario/Zelda/Metroid and a bit less significantly DK/Kirby) but that is about all they have to keep a small fraction of hardcore gamers interested. I also don't believe the full power of the PS3 has been tapped yet and I expect new visual benchmarks in the next 2-3 years before the inevitable launch of PS4.

I think it was a great show for the Sony brand. Vita looks amazing (although I dislike the name) and our exclusives crush what the competition has to offer imo. The only problem I have? Way too many games to buy and too little time to play them

lol Omega, I was just about to find your DMC thread and post the vid there. I thought you would at least be happy to see some white hair All jokes aside the main problem I have is this being called a Devil May Cry game. I can see elements of DMC in the vid but at the same time it looks completely different. From now on I will just pretend this as a different franchise/new IP, might help me appreciate it more.

@Rabid-Coot - I believe the Wii U will be a "success" for Nintendo, the Wii made gaming for everybody and it made perfect business sense for Nintendo to go that route. Having said that the fact remains, Nintendo lost the hardcore with the Wii and Wii U is simply following the same path. Interesting interview on 1Up with Miyamoto, he believes that making this system HD will help bring hardcore gamers back into the fold (sorry Miyamoto-san, it won't):

http://www.1up.com/news/e3-miyamoto-reconnecting-ha

Pricing will be interesting too, Iwata told Nikkei it will "most likely" cost more then $250 USD (my guess is $300) http://bit.ly/ip76Aj

Interesting financial report on Bloomberg, all is not rosy Nintendo fanboys:

Gamespopt.com is currently having live E3 floor coverage.
There are 3 streams: 2 are live mobile floor coverage (which I think one of them is taking requests to check out specific games), and 1 is more focused on interviewing developers and such.

For anyone who's interested, here are some links:
Cam 1 (http://e3.gamespot.com/live-cam-tour/live-cam-day-2/).
Cam 2 (http://e3.gamespot.com/live-cam-tour/live-cam-day-2/?cam=2).
Live show (http://e3.gamespot.com/live-show/live-show-day-2/?tag=topslot;img;1).
Please beware of the annoying ads at the beginning of each:arg:

I was looking forward to the next Half-Life, or at least something from VALVe at all.
They do certainly run on their own time(when a game takes awhile to come out, they often call it 'VALVe time&apos, and on one hand I guess that isn't neccessarily a bad thing; it ensures great quality games every time(just look at Portal 2! ).

In a way, they sorta prove that you can't rush perfection, and if getting another awesome game from them means waiting a few more years, then I shall be patient.

True, but when you've been waiting since '07 for it's release, you not only grow impatient, but some of the hype wears off. :l

Not to mention the speculation that occurs when people begin wondering why Valve's taking more than 3 years to make the next installment.

It has already been confirmed the lack of Episode 3 is because they can't think of any ideas

EDIT: I tried to find my source but it doesn't appear to be there anymore, or the search function for the site is just horrible (which it seems to be). So for now, unless you're willing to go through the dark deep pits of the internet for yourself, my word is your source.

Best thing at E3 for a Sony fanboy like me is that a lot of demos where shown on PS3 instead of 360.
News like this one (http://www.justpushstart.com/2011/06/09/e3-2011-dark-souls-ps3-is-superior-360-version-heavily-compressed-onto-one-disc/) are getting more and more common, and finally the PS3 has become the leading focus on the market, despite all the silly bad press of the early days.

"We Hazd Supurrior Virgin! Raffle Raffle Raffle!" I always find those irritating regardless of which side does it. Although it is nice to see Dark Souls will run rather nicely on the ps3. I hope it's as well received on the 360, From Software are one of my favorite developers since the days of Armored Core.2011-06-09 12:38:00

Ther isn't anything bad at supporting only the stuff you bought, even because behind a purchase there's always a reason (I don't support Microsoft for their way to do marketing and giving bribes, I don't support Nintendo because I don't like their IPs and game vision)

I agree with you Omega, not because I am a Sony fanboy (which I am!) but because for too long the PS3 was given the short end of the stick and now, finally, it looks like the winds are changing. I remember looking on with envy when Bioshock was released on the 360 and PS3 owners had to wait over a year to get their hands on the game. Now? PS3 is the lead platform for Bioshock Infinite AND we get a free copy of Bioshock on the disk. The Orange Box PS3 port had a ton of technical problems. Now? Portal 2 is released with STEAM integration exclusive to the PS3. There are dozens of other examples I can give, it's about time Sony's console gets the respect it deserves from ALL developers and I think that's really what it's about for PS3 fans 2011-06-09 14:02:00

lol I hear that. Trust me, I have my loyalties. I just see it so much from the 360 side that when the ps3 comes out better I'd rather the community didn't take to road the 'other' community takes and just enjoy the other's whining rather than instigate it.

Case in Point...how often was that rubbed in our face? Hm? How often is the gta4 and fallout dlc's brought up with the "Oh wait..." remark? That's why I'd rather it was just not pointed out and kept back until the whining began. Than, like reading off a list. Yeah I have been watching all these trailers on my Android phone, I get gaming news from all the major sources in one handy app and been checking pretty much every hour since E3 began lol. Deus EX is looking great, will be buying it. Asura's Wrath is basically a Japanese God of War which means day 1 purchase for me. Dragons Dogma I have had my eye on ever since it was announced a few weeks ago. I love the direction they are going with Need for Speed, completely different from any other racing game I have ever played. Here is some more Vita goodness:

I will try to find a vid of the Ruin demo from the Sony press conference for those who missed it. It really shows off PS Vita/PS3 integration allowing you to pick up where you left off on either device through cloud saving. One second the guy is playing it on the Vita and 10 seconds later he is picking up right where he left on on the PS3, very cool.

Capcom and dragons...I'm sold. I just hope hunting a dragon isn't held out of reach till the endgame. I've been spoiled by Monster Hunter. lol Gravity Daze looks nice, I saw it before E3 and had no idea what it was. I can't wait to get more on that. Asura's Wrath and Bodycount have a nice look to them as well.2011-06-10 12:37:00

1. My head exploded lie a grunt's head with a headshot and the GBP skull on . ( my adhd influenced that bad halo reference. )
2. I used to really like the Twisted metal series, because i am a big fan of racing games, and add shooting to that and weird characters/vehicles, and you've got me hooked. Turn those neat vehicles into machines of extreme warfare and i feint. TAKE MY TWO FAVORITES FROM THE WHOLE SERIES AND MAKE THEM GIANT ROBOTS! then my head explodes. ( as i mention above. )
3. The WiiU is basically a wii, with an enlarged version of the touchscreen of a ds smashed into the middle of it. or, a nonportable 3ds. ( 3ds has motion sensing, touchsreen, basically,... everything in the WiiU, but smaller, and much easier.
4. I still haven't gotten to try need for speed hot pursuit, AND THEY'RE COMING OUT WITH ANOTHER ONE! jeeze.... my birthday needs to get here fast so i can get a job. ( a working permit actually... )
5. BANG! my head exploded again. Because i just remembered, they're making a new MARIO game for the 3ds. And they're bringing back the good ol' raccoon suit. makes me REALLY happy.

now, if only i could stumble upon a few hundred dollars. :/ maybe i should sell that rare pokemon card.......... meh. maybe later.
