Level Building Strategy

I was just wondering if anyone has any strategies for building levels. I am putting a platforming level together and found it so much easier to start by building the whole level out of cardboard, then once finished; add platforming, change the materials, then add stickers and decorations... 1) Build each area separately so that you can destroy / emit them when you don't need them to save thermo. 2) I build most of the a level out of light matter first so that I don't have to worry about gravity / gluing. I make cell parts WITH GRID that line up to each other, even with pieces with destroyers on them (as doors to the next cell). Besides that, USE GRID and if there is extra thermo, add something complex with logic somewhere in the level. | 2011-04-09 21:49:00 Author: L1N3R1D3R ![]() Posts: 13447 |
I have no real strategy, but i work on the level design first. than i put in the logic. than i test. fix logic. test. fix level design. once all of that snuffing is done, i decorate it. | 2011-04-10 03:07:00 Author: Cactii ![]() Posts: 426 |
