Legend of Sackboy : Ocarina of Time

Archive: 45 posts

I was thinking about making a Legend of Zelda level a long time ago (me being a crazed LoZ fan), but I never had any real idea of what i would do. So i've decided i'd re-create the entire Ocarina of Time! (But shortened a bit, and sort of a LBP style to it.) I already have the dungeon maps and bestiary, so it won't be that hard, but this will be my first level that I actually put some real time into, so I hope it turns out good!2008-11-30 21:34:00

wait so are you making a level for each ocarina of time level or just the whole ocarina of time in one level?2008-11-30 21:38:00

Hmmm... I was thinking of making it all in one level but your idea is so much better! I will make all the different stages in their own separate level. Thanks to snrm for the idea!2008-11-30 21:45:00

I would be really, really impressed if you could fit the whole thing in one level. But don't. >.>

Something like this just really calls for multiple level imo.

Definitely go for multiple levels. You could go as far as to make the temples seperate levels.

I'd love to see this. I'm a big Legend of Zelda fan too. As soon as you finish making it, let me know. Please.

Don't worry i'll post an update after each stage is done and i'll put it in my sig.
Don't expect it to be done next week though this might take a while.

I smell moderation on the horizon.

Well I love Zelda so I'll be rooting for you. If you make a mockery of the Zelda name though, I will end you. :kz:

xD Don't worry I would end myself if it turned out crappy. I'm going to spend several hours a day working on it. Working the 3D into 2D is gonna be tricky though.2008-11-30 22:09:00

Yessir! Every single level and dungeon will be covered. (In it's own separate level) right now i'm working on the intro where the Deku tree is talking, suprisingly it looks really cool!

Edit: Can this please be moved to projects since i'm already working on it?

Good luck with the water temple! haha

Oh and to add the RPG element make some stickers that you collect throughout the level and need to use. ie) boomerang, bombs, ocarina, ect.

I think that would add an awesome element to the level. Especially if you make later unlockable levels, and you can use the stickers gained in previous levels in the newer levels..

Sorry for the grammar...been writing essays for the majority of the day and my brain is going to explode.

I smell moderation on the horizon.

I do as well. It's one thing to be inspired by an idea and make it original. It's another thing entirely to try and reproduce another work without permission in great detail, including characters, level design, item usage and puzzle solving...

I normally suggest to people to take out references to original characters and other such things. You don't need to have a great level by having references to other's IP's, especially without their permission...

So although it sounds like a nice idea, it just sounds way to much like a breach of the terms of use for LBP.

Sounds awesome, but I will say this: IT WILL TAKE SOOOOOO LONG.

Let's assume that you only do the dungeons. That is at least 8 or so.

Hopefully you're designing these levels in a way so that they don't get immediately modded once you publish them.2008-12-01 19:39:00

Unfortuantly, moderation is on the horizon...

And I wonder how the water temple would work.

But I agree, items should be sticker switches.

Maybe you can retain the feel of Zelda without just outright making it zelda?

I guess you guys are right I guess i'll just make the Deku Tree "The Great Tree" or something like that. I really like the sticker switch idea though! like place a bomb sticker and the wall blows up, Awesome!2008-12-01 23:14:00

Moved;

For future reference it is easier and quicker for you to just PM one of the mods with your request as we don't always read every new post.

Hm, maybe I could help as well...? MUHAHAHAHAHA!

>_<

ANYWAY, do you have a list of what all the levels will be? Like, will the levels be just the dungeons, or what? You have a static list of what all the levels will be yet? Like

Level 1: Kokiri Village *info here*
Level 2: Hyrule Castle *info whatever*

Or you just trying to wing it? O_O

Level 1 is gonna be just Kokiri Village
Level 2 is inside Deku Tree
Level 3 is Lost Woods / Hyrule
Level 4 is Goron City
and etc. Theres gonna be ALOT of levels (hopefully under 20)

Oh and by the way, i've started beta testing for the first level

Yeah, you may want to think about what level will be what first of all- this IS one of the most beloved games of all time, and you need to make sure you're on a right path instead of just winging it. no need to plan out everything before hand- just need to make sure you can fit it all at the rate you're going.

I played Kokiri Village, and it was cool, methinks- I just personally think it should be thrown in with The Great Deku Tree, but if you can make a list with what level is what and prove it can be fit in under 20 levels, then you won't need to do that.

I've decided to try hard to include the Deku Tree in the Kokiri Village. I really hope I don't have to shrink it down too much, The Deku Tree is EPIC!2008-12-06 17:22:00

Ok, so are you using the Deku Tree as it's own level now as in your signature?

I'll try to make a list of what levels you may want to use:

Level 1: Kokiri forest
Level 2: Great Deku Tree
Level 3: Hyrule Castle
Level 4: Death Mountain/ goron City
Level 5: Dodongo's Cavern
Level 6: Zora's river/ Zora's domain
Level 7: Inside Jabu Jabu (should end in a brief Temple of Time segment)
Level 8: Forest Temple (should begin with a brief Temple of time segment)
Level 9: Fire Temple
Level 10: Ice Caverns
Level 11: Water Temple
Level 12: Bottom of the Well
Level 13: Shadow Temple
Level 14: Gerudo Fortress/ Haunted Wasteland
Level 15: Spirit Temple
Level 16: Ganon's Tower

Hm... it may be able to fit in 20 levels; however, you may need to cut off some parts (like in this, I made the first half of the adult segment just the Temples for the most part).

Well, I can honestly say that Kokiri Village was a Grand Level- albeit like the Garden levels in that it was a tutorial...

Oh! An idea has popped into my mind...

You know how you had to buy the shield sticker with a 1 Rupee sticker? You should have other denominations of rupees later on as well- like, say, in Dodongo's Cavern there's a 5 Rupee sticker. Then, you take that sticker back there to Kokiri Village to buy something else in the shop!

And of course, you should use the Shield and Sword stickers to solve puzzles in dungeons, along with other item stickers as well...

Oh... this could be epic! =D

Maybe make him made of dissolve, make a solid wall above his head, and when both switches are pressed, they activate something off screen (like pushing a piston across to a magnetic key switch) and when that's done, Milo dissolves?

Or make the wall above him rise or made of dissolve...

Of the level? Oh yeah, it's cool. Sorry the response is so late.

I think it could use some more custom deco. to make it more Zelda-y. Other than that, real nice.
