Photo spammers, or maybe clones?

Archive: 20 posts

Have you noticed with many levels, in the photos section, there is always a picture like this:
http://id.lbp.me/img/fl/42d38a298b79854867b44853e0c6043cac701349.jpg
or this:

For some reason, there are always tons of these, and they all have very similar costumes. Are there people going around and spamming these photos, or maybe some sackpeople are being cloned to take over the world?

I'm glad someone pointed it out! It's on every story level and story versus level for me, none of them are my friends or people I've played with (that I can tell), and I only assume they're able to persist because the uploader holds a high score in that level. Or does the image preview section not work that way?

It doesn't bother me too much, but is a constant reminder of how many infantile "bloo, blooooafawa! meeee! meeeeeeeee!" players are active in the community. And by active I mean constantly taking pictures of themselves in new costumes every 2-3 minutes, in or out of levels.

It struck me playing Lego Star Wars III with my son this weekend how the two UK publishers Media Molecule and Traveller's Tales represent both ends of children's gaming, particularly in terms of interactivity. Mm burst out of the gate with full online features and is with its sequel more like a social network than a game series, while Traveller's Tales have produced eight (9 with the upcoming PotC) Lego games plus a few side projects that really just let you sit on the couch and play locally. Both have their upsides and downsides. LBP suffers from "needing" to be online, in a way. It connects you to other players and that's the core experience. It's been rather a relief to play the Lego games where gameplay is quite literally playing the game, for once, with no silly photos, rating, vandalism, endless copies of copies of user content, shrill children's voices on microphone... Lego could be better if it incorporated certain LBP features, but LBP is stuck in that it can't go the other way around. It can only add. That's the box, albeit a very creative and comprehensive one, they've built themselves into I suppose.

Ah well, at least photos don't drop into levels, slap you around, misspell "you suck" and "heart me" and downvote all your levels before disappearing off to school at 8:30 a.m. in their time zone.

That was LBP1 too, probably since beginning, simple photos was not so much exposed + LBP2 has more costumes that can be considered emo 2011-04-05 04:04:00

Plus, if you click on their name (atleast in LBP1) it would take you to their planet. So they might be "advertising". (Read: Spamming.)2011-04-05 04:36:00

The only reason i did it was because i found out an epic glitch only at one level.

of course, i didnt post it fifty times, i posted pics of my squirrel brother with messed up facial expressions from the glitch.

But if you look at the MM and tutorial levels, there much much worse. not just 10 of the same pics, but its over 1000.

I'm just glad we finally got the ability to delete these useless pictures.

I can't begin to imagine the amount if therapy these people need, but aren't getting.

Oh God, I hate these.
Especially the weird furry costumes that use the Silk Spectre hair. It disgusts me.

I sure as hell am glad Sackbots aren't affected by this. :kz: Iron likes being dressed in an adorable little Helghast Costume, NOT a Barbie Doll.2011-04-05 21:32:00

Personally, I think it's some sort of LBP prostitution ring.
