Building the seemingly impossible...

Archive: 13 posts

Well I've been busy building some new objects - some Starwars stuff and creatures. Couldn't show you the snowspeeder because I can't view it on lbp.me for some reason. I've tried to make the vehicles as small and detailed as possible for use in top-down or 3D shooters. The x-wing is a good example of what can be done with a bit of lateral thinking and patience - it's only 1thick and 1 thin layer, and I included myself in the pic to show the scale. Since this pic was taken I've added accurate lighting to the engines. The fighter plane shows how you can get nicely angled wings even when building in side view. The newt has to be seen in motion to really be appreciated - it's in the pond level linked from in my ocean portal level. If you get the chance, try it out - it's kinda relaxing and different...3273032731327323273332734327352011-04-04 16:53:00

Nothing is Impossible , Only Improbable!

also you might wanna use [IMG] Tags for those Images as a fair few would not trust such a long named file.

Very impressive techniques. I have no idea how you made those angled wings or the X-Wing.

Also, Aluminum Falcon ftw!

Good looking stuff. It's amazing what can be done with the 3D rotation glitch and help from the theck and thack layers. Indeed these things take time and patience.2011-04-04 21:41:00

Thanks for the feedback - Jules, you're welcome to use anything I build although you probably can build just as well now! Gilgamesh - I'd be happy to share some tips with you cos I reckon we could both learn from each other... and as for things being improbable not impossible - not even an infinite number of possibilities could manage to uncremate my old dog into a fit enough state to bring me the morning paper - there's optimism and then there's realism! Regarding the Warthog, I don't know anything much about Halo but will check the pics and if it's inspiring then I'll build one. Anyhow, I built a remake of Manic Miner today - amazing how something my zx spectrum managed to achieve quite happily seems to stretch lbp to breaking. And yep, I was economical with the design!! Ah well - more objects soon2011-04-04 23:35:00

Mind giving me more detail on the Rotating glitch you used for some of those vehicles? It looks very useful!2011-04-05 11:31:00

To be honest dragonember, I have no idea what he's talking about - no glitches were involved in making this stuff, just inventive ways of sticking things together!2011-04-06 02:12:00

omg you have to make an imperial star destroyer!

I have no idea how you made those angled wings or the X-Wing.
You just place decorations on holo. The windows from the Marval pack are the best to use though I haven't experimented with it much. One of my friends uses the same technique to make swept wings.

Yeah, some nice angles going on there. I really want to see them in stage to try and understand those angles better! I liked your newt and it was pretty relaxing, until I started to chase a tadpole... those things are fast.2011-04-14 11:02:00
