Four Controllers, One TV, and LittleBigPlanet

Archive: 15 posts

Now, I've only got one controller for my PS3. However, I went over to a relative's house, who has a PS3, for a party and brought along LittleBigPlanet and my controller just to see if there'd be anyone wanting to play. (It's that kind of game, after all.) Well, it started off that I loaded in the disc, messed around with the PS3 (since he never uses it and I've been the only one updating it and etc) and started up the game. My sister, who's only decent as a player, as LittleBigPlanet is the most console gaming she's had, wandered over to the TV, picked up a controller, and we went from there.

Soon enough, a brother-in-law found us. So now we had three players. Later on, an older sister joined the group, to the full four-player lobby running along through some of the story levels. Then we had another person spectating. Well, along the way I casually slapped another player, and was eventually pressured into showing how to do it. Then, it broke down. In a good way.

I gave up my controller to another and became a spectator/guide. Since two people were very unskilled, and another not familiar with the game, I decided to go all the way back to the first Gardens level. Well, they got past the first wall, and then it turned into a slap-fight. And it was absolutely hilarious! It's true that when you get lots of people together playing in a room, the fun factor goes up exponentially. Finally, the slap fight died down (somewhat) and everyone got into customizing their characters. Which was pretty funny. Two people essentially wanted what the other had, so after some difficulty, just swapped controllers. Then some pretty wild clothing setups.

Finally, they started making their way through the level. With lots of slapping and bouts of laughter along the way. Especially when falling down the bridge, because there was a big war over who was going to hold down the button, and so the video played through two or three times before anyone actually noticed it all. Finally, people started trickling out, and it turned into a fun round of two-player co-op.

Anyone else experienced a full room of people playing LBP together? Or am I the only one so far?

P.S.: LittleBigPlanet is an AWESOME party game!

Lucky gadder >_>

I have yet to play LittleBigPlanet with another person (Besides online of course). While Online is fun, I would love to try out multiplayer offline. But none of my friends or relatives are actually interested in it.

I've played it with two friends offline. It was so hilarious, we then hopped online with ChazO'Sulls, and it was brilliant. Basically, we spent the entire time ganging up on Chaz, slapping him at every opportunity and screwing him over whenever possible. Especially in "Race levels". We'd race off to the car, and shoot off just before he got to it. Sounds so simple but it's hilarious.
Best party game ever.

The true kicker to it all was, those two friends are both XBox owners. And they both said they would be very willing to buy a PS3 just for LittleBigPlanet. And also agreed that it is the greatest game they've played. Completely blown away by the sheer possibilities of it.

I agree with valo , offline multilpayer is just hilarious!
Me , my bro and sis were playing LBP earlier on the level ...err...don't remember what level exactly but it was in the canyons.
we were ready to hop into the mining cart.
once we were in we were riding down , ready to jump to the hanging sponge.
but we all failed...we crashed the cart into the fire part , and were stuck.
that was epic LOL.

The most simple, yet purely hilarious thing to do with friends is to slap each other off "cliff edges" into a hazard. Like if they're stood on the edge of a fire pit, waiting for a sponge to come along to grab or whatever. Smack them off and watch them fall to their death. Love it.2008-11-30 21:43:00

that's funny. When ever my friends come over it turns into just a straight out slap fight. Always happens about 10 minutes into the game starting, again and again and again.2008-11-30 22:10:00

Me and two others were playing the dojo level, and in one of the parts where you have to jump across increasingly smaller platforms, I got across and hit them off when they jumped over to me, every time.2008-11-30 22:34:00

We had 6 playing the other night and it was hilarious (we had 2 subs rotating in and out), plus a few children watching and going for the different characters (they all had favourites). Other then slap fights we also kept going nuts with the decorations, at first it was just stamping stickers everywhere and one each other, but then the decorations came out, and we had sackboys running aorund covered in oversized noses, or coins, and all sorts of bits and pieces dangling off it. All the time we were slowly working through the levels, and it got more fun the harder it go, because there was a sense of danger and accomplishment when we got through a tricky bit.

We also enjoyed leaving people behind, if there were to slow to get onto the hot air balloon, or into the car.

Have 4 controllers but only ever had three of us on at anyone time. Most of the time I play solo, however my 3yo son loves the game so I go through some levels with him...very funny when he first discovered the try again popit tool...and he is very good at decorating. He is also mastering the slap usually gangs up on his mother when the three of us are playing together...2008-12-01 02:52:00

I've played with 4 people in one room before a couple of times. It's great fun. We must have played the skateboard challenge level twenty times in a row.

It's really difficult to create with that many people unless they are very coordinated. The biggest problem seems to be the camera view following player 1 and ignoring the others when deciding zoom level.

I played through the whole story with my brother and sister.

I really have no patience when it comes to teamwork. >_>
Still good fun, though.

I have a blast playing with my 12-year-old daughter (the hip-hop fairy bunny). Not as much slap fighting, but the lack of coordination is so funny! We were playing through the Construction Site and laughed throughout the level as she leapt at the last minute to grab onto me as I hung from a sponge ball or watching her fall off the see-saw girders as I made it safely across. Just being able to watch and hear her as she failed miserably to keep up was hilarious!2008-12-01 18:45:00
