How many of your friends actually make GOOD stuff?
Archive: 31 posts
I have about 3-4 friends out of 16 who make cool things/levels. It's really sad how 3/4 of the LBP community has no talent or are little kids. I also have friends to try to make stuff but fail miserably. Ex: *Makes a block with a controlinator that shoots 4 different projectiles* "Man this is INSANE!" It's really not <:L | 2011-04-03 04:53:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |
Well... considering that talent is generally thought of to be "special" because not many people have it... I don't know why this surprises you or anyone else? The majority of people in this world are not creative, artistic, or talented, in any special way. It's why artists, actors, musicians, etc. get paid so well to do the entertaining things they do... along with the people who manage their careers, promote them, and generally ride on their coat tails. I suppose you could also look at your own creative talent comparatively speaking on your friends' list, and wonder where you fall in that 3/4... seeing as art is subjective and all. It could very well be that those 3-4 friends of yours would say that your work is not really "good" and that it's kind of sad that there are people like you and kids on here making levels and stuff. Not that that's the case, just illustrating a point. We'd have to really nail down a definition of "Good" in order to have any kind of meaningful conversation that we could all agree on here. What you think is good, I might think is mediochre at best, so it really comes down to who's on your friends list to a large degree as well. I mean, it's like that kid in his group of friends that is a little slow that everyone makes fun of. If you don't have one in your group of friends, it probably means you're it. Same thing goes for art. As for me... I really don't have a ton of friends on LBP. Of the 10 or so names I have, I barely even talk to or play with most of them. Most of my time is spent creating. Out of those friends, I'd say only two or three stand out to me as creators who's work visually stimulates me. The rest are all logic people... who's work logically stimulates me. There's a very few who fall into both of these categories. I guess I never really paid attention to why they are friends... they just seem like nice people who I get along with and are either like minded, or we have something we can offer each other creatively speaking. I try not to judge anyone based on anything other than how they treat me, and how they think.... not how good they are at creating. PS. I still don't know how to pronounce your name. There is no discernable difference between dontah and don-ta. So... is it actually supposed to be pronounced with a long "A" or a short "A" sound? Is it more like Dante? | 2011-04-03 05:42:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

LBP didnt been made in mind that every user will create, same as YouTube didnt been made in mind that everyone will upload videos, maybe it will will sound strange but main component of LBP is ability to play a game not to create levels for it, same YouTube was mainly made to watch videos not to upload them. I recommend to watch this: http://video.bafta.org/services/player/bcpid601325186001?bctid=639675418001 | 2011-04-03 05:47:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |

I dont really have any real friends on littlebigplanet, because I cant really play online. there was an online game and someone on there had littlebigplanet2 so we became friends, but he sort of forgot about me, the other one is because im a beta tester for a level, and the other one i dont really know to much because of the loading screen bug. there all pretty good at creating, actually. | 2011-04-03 19:21:00 Author: Cactii Posts: 426 |
I hang out in circles where everyone creates, so about 3/4 of my friends are decent creators | 2011-04-03 20:23:00 Author: Radishlord Posts: 706 |
It depends what you mean by friends, like people on my friends list, or true friends? I have a few famous creators on my friends list, who are obviously great, but I dont really hang out with them. The ones I do hang out with often really arent though. | 2011-04-03 21:41:00 Author: ATMLVE Posts: 1177 |
Technically, wouldn't you be one of those "talentless" compared to your frends that can actually make "Good" stuff? Its all based on perspective and what you've seen. Besides, as long as you're having fun with what you build, then what should you or they care if others think its "good." I pity more the people that can build well, but don't really like it, yet just do it because they feel they have to... I trully wish there were more of those "talentless, but fun" players than the ogh so many "Good but forced" players, tbh. | 2011-04-03 21:50:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I have to agree with leon on everything, I dont understand so many things around lbp lol, but all my friends make good stuff, anything they love to do is good, saying that other people dont make good stuff is just...idk anyway atleast thats my opinion i dont wanna offend anyones opinion. I create for my gf, not most of the time, "everytime", if my friends think it isnt good, I really dont care, shes the one thats supposed to like it, not anyone else. Some people just..take things to seriously and lose it, I would know../been there | 2011-04-03 22:19:00 Author: Bloo_boy Posts: 1019 |
About 70% of my friends make extremely awesome stuff. The rest I just added because....I dunno....I just like to give people a chance, even if I've never heard of em before. | 2011-04-03 23:01:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Hum, I always try to make things, but it is always about a concept, such as controlling a ship with the Sixaxis, having two sackbots and alternating, press-the-button games, etc. I always end up leaving things behind, because once I know how the logic will work, I never find out how to make a game with it. Weird. I need help to make a level that starts, plays and ends. I have concepts, but I don't know how to play them. This is sad, since my friend made only one level and he got the create trophy. He just made a Wipeout level, and it worked. It is actually the greatest wipeout level I've played. I have 22 friends on my list, I know in true life 4 or 5 of them, I more-or-less know 2-3 others, I don't really know the others. I guess I have 10 of them (or more) with LBP or LBP2, and about 2 of them are good. (One made the wipeout, one is making a pac-man (he is good with LBP logic) Some I can't tell, I don't know them enough | 2011-04-03 23:08:00 Author: Unknown User |
The people who make lame stuff are more this game's target audience than the relatively few who bust their butts creating epic levels just for the love of it. | 2011-04-04 03:21:00 Author: zabel99 Posts: 179 |
I am the lamest one and am persistantly impressed by my friend's works Yeah, same here. They run circles around me. I showed a few of them how to turn the pause sound off...that's about the extent of my skill. | 2011-04-04 08:57:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Not a single one of my PSN friends. One person made a level that was just a block of wood on some fire with a scoreboard, the other two have never made anything but they've tried to before. None of them really know the tools and stuff to determine how to create a level, but that just lets me look good in front of them because I know more than them. | 2011-04-04 15:13:00 Author: Moonface Posts: 310 |
well lets see.... i have around 80 or so friends on LBP with about 15 of them being close buds of mine. I'd say about 30% of people on my list are good or great creators... so i have maybe around 25 people on my list that are good at creating. some off the top of my head are, Luos, Ninjamicwz, Morgana, pickled-punk, ShamgarBlade. there lot of others too i have on my list, but i don't feel like trying to remember them all. now some of my most close friends i hang out with all the time on LBP don't create at all~ so but yeah, I'd say i have a good hand full of good creating buddies. *mew | 2011-04-04 18:41:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
I only have about 5 friends on LBP2, and no-one of them is a talented creator. At best they are at my skill level (not specifically talented, but not a total beginner either). Sadly, none of them are my real-life friends either (most of them have PS3:s, but play CoD/Modern Warfare instead, even when I have tried to convert them onto LBP2 fans ). | 2011-04-04 20:20:00 Author: OrwellianStuff Posts: 90 |
I am the lamest one and am persistantly impressed by my friend's works same here, i consider myself to be fairly competent at creating, but i think that pretty much all my friends are better at creating than me, since they seem to churn out great looking fun levels at super quick speeds. i think that it is partially about how long you spend in create mode and partially about a knack for good video game gameplay and visuals. | 2011-04-04 20:40:00 Author: Skalio- Posts: 920 |
We'd have to really nail down a definition of "Good" in order to have any kind of meaningful conversation that we could all agree on here. Alright, how about good = birthday parties You can never go wrong with birthday parties As for the friend thing, actually most of my friends make some cool stuff, some of my other friends just make me laugh, so I could care less if they are good at creating. | 2011-04-04 20:45:00 Author: Jayhawk_er Posts: 403 |

I got a good bunch of friends who once in their life got on the cool pages on lbp but that was easy... I for one am not the best but not the worst... | 2011-04-04 23:23:00 Author: BonBonBoi Posts: 246 |
Your friends list (or anyone's, for that matter) is not a representation of the LittleBIGPlanet community. It would be wrong of you to say "3/4 of my friends are sucky creators, so that must mean 3/4 of the LBP community are sucky creators". And it's not very nice to say a bunch of people on your friends list are terrible at creating! | 2011-04-04 23:37:00 Author: TheZimInvader Posts: 3149 |
I'd say most of the people on my list are excellent creators. Some of them are well known, others have barely published, but they all have in common is passion and dedication to their craft. This is probably why we became friends in the first place, and I've managed to learn a lot about creating from them, and likely vice versa too. Nothing could be better than having your friends continually floor you with their stunning creations. | 2011-04-05 00:06:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
All of my friends make good stuff. They scare me. | 2011-04-06 09:57:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
:star:To be honest it all depends on what you mean by good... Good detail? Good controls? Good abilities? If you mean all of those then I would say only a few friends are good... I am pretty good at detail and I'm not just being full of myself by here:star: http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/272671-Blackfalcon/671/19/infamous_bnf_banner1_display.jpg | 2011-04-06 12:06:00 Author: Unknown User |
All of my friends who play LBP are awesome in their own ways. They consistently outshine me at everything, from costumes to logic (which I'm crap at) to scenery and many more things. And even though I might have been playing LBP much longer, and I "try" considering myself a good creator... the work my friends put out is AWESOME. But then again, they're all awesome people to know and hang out with. | 2011-04-06 14:20:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
I like to make sure my friends have a passion for making great levels, as do I (if i ever could make something I like...lol) I mean...after all, isn't having in-game friends all about hot-rodding each others creations back and forth and learning & teaching everything you possibly can about this great game? | 2011-04-06 15:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
loey1884 makes nice stuff, but (excluding members from here), the rest don't play LBP. Except for wmjchamp, but that's a different story *shudders* | 2011-04-06 17:04:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
Almost all my lbp friends have talent in one way or another, whether it be making things happen with logic or making really nice looking things, or both. | 2011-04-09 18:45:00 Author: Jrange378 Posts: 573 |

Actually, my friends or -used to be friends- was not good at all at creating. They just made stupid friend galleries and bomb survivals. They were all ***** as well, they dressed their sackboys up and practically lived their life in LBP. Really. They were all jerks, anyways my friends, real friends, and some good PSN-friends mostly create good "creations" but not good levels. For an example, I have this 10 years old friend on PSN that is superb on creating tanks, etc. But his levels sucks to be honest. That goes for most of my friends. | 2011-04-10 13:06:00 Author: AbdiHMA Posts: 86 |
