Magic Mouthes, Multiple Speeches, Movement Halp?

Hey, umm...

I have this cutscene I'm working on...

ONE character says multiple lines, (magic mouthes on a microchip) and I want the mouth on their FACE to move during each speech bubble. (It's a MAGIC MOUTH on a CARDBOARD CHARACTER)

The problem is that the VISIBLE mouth only moves during it's own speech, and the ones in the microchip don't make it move.

I know Sackbots can use the actor labels to control their mouth movement from microchips, but I don't see a way to do that with regular magic mouthes. (Which kinda sucks, because I still like cardboard characters more than sackbots for these kinda things)

Does anyone have a way to make one magic mouth move, even when other ones are turned on? I can't overlap them because that'd be messy, and I briefly experimented with actor labels, and they didn't work.

I hope I explained this well enough... If not, I can try to elaborate, but... Yeah.

Is the chip on the sackbot? or somewhere else? I think mine talked, but I used a sequencer on the bot with the magic mouths and it worked.2011-04-03 03:24:00

Nah, I'm not using a sackbot, it's a cardboard character, but the mouthes are on a microchip on him.

I'm starting to think I MIGHT just have to destroy and emit a whole bunch of new mouthes.

I think you have to use a sequencer. Mine works perfectly on a chip on a sequencer on a sackbot...but the cameras are all glitched and will perminately freeze in the thrid camrea in's posistion after it runs through all of them.The reason I mention that is you could be dealing with a glitch too, I have just spent the entier day just working with glitches...and finally quit. But I do think a sequencer is the way to do it. You have not said you are using one yet.2011-04-03 04:22:00

EDIT: Argh I found most of the glitches where mouth settings and the glitch was the time it worked. I think I was toying with camrea setting on the mouths before I placed them in sequencers, thus causing the error.

So for it to work 100% of the time with an option for replay I had to make sure I had the vamera turned off on the magic mouths, and them set to "on" and not "one shot" (ooops). Then to make the sequencer replay make sure it it set to play and not on/off (still no clue with it worked for me several times the other way). Do'nt have looping on and like others have said have an empty magic mouth on the last frame to clear out the text...that otherwise just stays one for no real reason.

it stays on becaus i believe the sequencer needs to be a tad longer than what you need ...now back on subject you cant make a majic mouth move to another magic mouth s text...what i would recommend is setting several holo block right on top of each other either set to emit or even just turn on in the order desired....make them invisible this might work

Oh I don't have the carboard characters...just figured that was a sackbot set to clive. Well looks like another thing I have to unlock. Do sequencers not fit on them?

Oh as for the cause of the error I had, it was not sequencer length, mine was several frames beyound with a blank mouth, it was only the fact that I had used a magic mouth with the one shot and camera settings turned on...that causes a error with a camera that will not reset and the controllers becomes disabled about 100%.
