The Pseudo-God Draymonte (Complete!) - A Minecraft Adventure Map

Archive: 51 posts

Whenever I post this stuff in the main minecraft thread, it dissapears within a day. So I've decided to post screenshots and files in here instead.

First of all, what is PGD? Well, it's an adventure map you can play in Minecraft. You spawn in the country of Addle, and you must stop an evil god from continuing to mess with it's people. Complete quests to gather golden blocks, which will help you get to the domain of Draymonte: Umbra.

The (pretty much) final version is available to download here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?f9rvyf5s7rm0rnu
And then simply extract that zip file to your .minecraft/saves folder!

Then, simply start up minecraft and choose to play it! Remember to follow the rules, and if you are asked to read something, simply go into your .minecraft/saves/ThePseudoGodDraymonte/Text Files and read the said .txt file.

Oh, and if you want, you can collect lapiz lazuli. When you've finished your playthrough, post the amount you got!

And here are some screenshots that may not be up to date:

If you downloaded the map before I posted it, then you probably have a ton of stuff in your inventory. If you do, please just toss it all in the water, cause you aren't supposed to have that stuff. I also updated the zip file with an empty inventory, so future downloads should be good.2011-04-02 02:00:00

Screenshots look very promising!
I'll sure to give it a go as my first minecraft adventure map playthrough and post my results later.

I'll try, but the last time I recorded, it lagged so bad.

I've toned down the ancient tree. (in the version of mine you guys can't yet play) I also made cactus island a little more challenging to find the gold block area.

And, if you guys have any ideas for quests, please do share them, I'm kinda dry on ideas right now. I'd love unique challenges that use different material scheme from the challenges you guys can play right now.

And I'm guessing you didn't find the secret Lapiz Lazuli storage shack. (has 14 lapiz in it) If you want to look for it, you can find it in plain 'sight'.

My final Lapis count was 42.
Nice map! I was so disappointed when it ended with a 'WIP' though!

I neglected to read all of the first post, including the part where you said it wasn't done. Oops. Anyway, it was still great fun!

Haven't worked on this as much as I've wanted lately, but I have been working on the final couple quests, and then the route you take (which is a minecart track,) to get to Draymontes domain.

For anyone wondering on what the 'Act 1' gold block locations/quests are, here's the list;

Cactus Island
Frigid Grotto
Ancient Tree of Platforming
Tomb of Obstacles
Fern Mansion
Offering Storage (Under Statue of Draymonte)
Culthaven Graveyard
Bane Towers

Once I finish the Bane towers I'll work on a final quest, then I'll get to working on Act 2.

As for what these 'Bane towers' look like;

EDIT: Bane Towers are done!

Sorry to double post but... NEW VERSION! All of the act 1 quests are done, and the ride you take to act 2 is also done.

Download it here http://www.mediafire.com/?vbte7yll2ynlz2n and just simply extract it to your .minecraft/saves/ folder.

As for bugs, PLEASE look out for items that seem to be a single item, but actually have multiple copies of itself. I use invedit to get more than 64 items per stack, so I may have accidentally placed those full stacks instead of a single one. And of course, report any other bugs to me! Thank you!

EDIT: Feel free to hack your way through 'Fatuos House', I made lots of errors and so most of it is broken. The other quests should work fine though.

EDIT: Err....I must have missed quite a lot of stuff (maybe cause I didn't read any notes...)

Anyway I played it through and I must say it was really good. I had some trouble with the redstone tower thing and in the end I just flew to the top. The last jump of the bane towers ****** me off...The entire map and all the challenges are well structured and paced. Excellent work imo.

Well done on the map I enjoyed it. Puts mine to shame

My total count for lapis was 65...but I think i missed some stuff. Can't wait for part 2

@rseah Ye, the redstone houser (aka the Fatuos House) suprised me when I realized how broken it was xD It's all fixed now so the next version will have it working.

As for the last bane tower jumps, I may make them easier as I fell myself

@Snax if you go into your minecraft/saves/PGD_v3.0/ folder, in there will be a folder called 'Text Files' open that and all the text files are in there.

Also, Frigid Grotto and the tomb aren't connected at all, so I believe what you did wrong was forget to grab the button from the chest, which is next to the guy who tells you about the tomb. (and you said you didn't know how to read the text files so it makes sense that you never knew where he was.)

@>er Ye, on my playthrough I found that, and it's fixed

Thanks for playing guys! I really appreciate it! (Btw rseah just showing you how many you probably missed, on my v3.0 playthrough I collected 171 lapiz lazuli )

in the stick house there's something odd about the lapiz. i reseted all my other lapiz into one single. but still it wasn't a infinitive one...

BTW how many gold blocks are there? i got 6..

EDIT: Oooh. btw this is awesome. i forgot to tell that the first time xD
you don't think there's a way to make a mod in minecraft with actual npc? that would be very usefull.

@>er Hm... I guess I'll go check that one out, see whats wrong with it.

Also, even if there was an NPC mod, I wouldn't use it cause I want this to be able to played by anyone who has minecraft, with nothing additional needed.

Oh gosh that's actually a good idea :O Unfortunately, I've finished with the gold block area, so I can't add anymore quests to act 1 :c

As for your earlier question (if you haven't figured it out yet) there are 9 gold blocks to get.

well... you could just use something simular in act 2 aswell . or maybe that in the end of the story you'll need about a 100 lapiz blocks to get to a bonus area.

or... the more lapiz blocks you collect the more you get to know about the backstory. (alltthough it's doesn't seem to be so much backstory left to tell..)

EDIT: SPOLERS btw i cheated that last block of gold by walking around the cliff and then jump on the tracks and walk back inside to get a minecart.. you could set the tracks underground so you can't walk in the wrong way or build a huge un-climbable tower or sumethin'

nevermind about my button thing.

Anyway, on the psycho man house, there are a few cheap jumps, not because of the distance, but because theres a block over you, preventing you from jumping well. will you break the top parts of when you exit the house to another entrance.

Ye, as I said before, that house is really broken. I've changed it up so there are 3 block high doors, so jumping is much easier.

After playing the tree of platforming many times, I can tell you it's quite fair. Maybe you're just trying to jump to the wrong block?

Ending? What I think you're talking about is the room I decided to stop at so I could release what I had made so far. That's not the real ending, not at all

They are all txt files inside the save folder. If you don't know where those are, just read the first post.

I doubt it The xbox version will most definitely be less costumizable as the PC version because of not being able to access the files and such.

Also, dunno if anyone cares, (it's a tough life) but this map will have multiple endings. (Two to be exact.) But, they won't be deep, you must have done x/y, choice endings, instead you'll just be given the choice right at the end, and you have to choose the one you believe in.

It's in a zip file, and I can't really make it smaller as all the files inside it need to be seperated in order for it to work.

Sorry for double toast but the map is done! You can now play it from start to finish! Though there may be some bugs, and if you find any do please tell me

Go here to download it; http://www.mediafire.com/?f9rvyf5s7rm0rnu and check the first post for installing instructions.

I've actually added quite a bit in this update, with a whole new area plus two possible endings. So enjoy!

One thing was that after opening one of the Draymonte Door mechanisms, you couldn't get out cause there was a 2 block high blockage. The other thing was that a door right before Draymontes chamber didn't have a pressure pad to open it.

As for a sequel, I don't know. I like ending things of cliffhangers so I just added that in for me

Btw, I've been meaning to fix the bugs but then the newest update hit and I've been too lazy to update my mods I'll get to it soon though.
