[LFBM] - "Looking for Bomb Emitter"

Archive: 5 posts

Hey all!

I've done a few searches in the forums and can't seem to find what I'm looking for...

I'm making a Bomb Survival (*just* what we all need right? ;-) and want to build an emitter that will pepper the landscape with bombs and bubbles in as random as a fashion as possible.

So far I've made a box that slides back and forth across the top of the level on a piston and have attached various emitters to it. It doesn't work great and everything tends to clump up along the right and left sides of the level with a light sprinkling in the middle.

I know we probably don't need any more Bomb Survival levels but this is my first creation and I'm using it as a way to learn the ropes and make something fun I can share with my kids.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Well if this is a PSP level, so far there haven't been many good ones since there really isn't a solid way of making them. Plus, half the fun of bomb survivals on PS3 was the multiplayer portion of it!

Sounds like Kaboom! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaboom!_%28video_game%29) for the 2600. Not that that's at all a bad thing.

Well I'd say that the problem is the box is always moving when it drops the bombs so the momentum will carry many of the bombs to the outside of the area. IDK I never really made bomb survivals so I think I'm over-complicating it but maybe try making it stop then drop the bomb then continue moving, although that'd require a touch of logic.

And if you know it's so unoriginal, why do it? I don't mean that to offend you I'm just curious as to why you wouldn't want to try to build something original. That'll give you experience you need and is more rewarding.

I dunno, building something that's "been done a thousand times before" gives you a basis for comparison, and free reign to experiment to your hearts' content.2011-04-01 22:19:00
