Contraption Challenge 13 - Submarine

The Contraption Challenges are back! Hoorah!

For those who have no idea what this is, here's a quick summary: it's a competition where you have a couple of weeks to make a specific contraption, these are then narrowed down to some finalists who all get their level on our Youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/LBPContraptions) and on the EU PlayStation Blog, and then everybody votes for their favourite and the winner becomes awesome.

Unfortunately for now we don't officially have any prize other than fame and glory, but as anyone who has any sense will tell you, it's the taking part that's fun! I like to think of the CC's as more of a friendly community event rather than a strict competition, so that's what we're aiming for this year - regular challenges every couple of months with no annoying restrictions on who can enter. Play each others levels, give feedback, and generally have a jolly good time.

I have never entered one of these...
good submarines are hard to make as they full up inside when you put it in water...
I don't know if I'll enter this or not. everyone well most likely create something
far better then me :I

Also is this real? as it's April first i doubt almost everything that happens on this day (T_T)

Sick. I just caught Chimpanzee's bulletin on Youtubes. Making this the first challenge I was aware of on day one of it becoming public.

This is awesomes - I've been looking for an excuse to screw around with the Anti-Grav tweakers bouyancy settings properly.
This makes me think, y'know what would've been a neat material to add to LBP2? "Air." Like hologram, it doesn't collide and doesn't move unless attached to something, and what the material does is, whenever Sackboy or any other objects enters it's space, it behaves as though it isn't in water. It wouldn't require the calculations of dynamic water, just a means of making makeshift pockets of air underwater. But that's a tangent for some other discussion.

EDIT- Oh, yeah, BTW, The trailer for the CCs return? Well and truly epic. Never before have I seen such an overkill teaser. 10/10		2011-04-01 19:46:00

Just remember, the competition is about the submarine, not the level. If your vehicle is complete, just place it in a small demo level, and save yourself some time in order to meet the deadline.		2011-04-07 12:52:00

thanks for the advice.

i'm more interested in the quality of my level (as a whole, including the sub), than getting it entered into a CC, but i think i can get it done by the 17th and then people can just play the first section if all they want to see is the sub.

if i can't get it done though, i might do as you suggest.

I don't expect to win though. I know somebody else is going to make something ridiculously and unnecessarily awesome.		2011-04-07 13:15:00

The Coelacanth deep see exploration sub with detachable mini-sub. I spent a lot of time and I hope you all like the contraption/level. Please let me know if you find bugs.

I'm fairly new to the site but not new to CC competitions as I tried number CC12 and I've seen previous entries.

I just noticed this and I only have a couple days. Good news is that I already made a sub for my most recent level, at least if seals count as subs that is. I doubt it will win, but entering will be fun and I already qualify. I can submit my performer level if time fails, but I'll try to generate a fun versus level.2011-04-14 18:37:00

Hey everyone,

Just a quick message to say that there's going to be a bit of a wait until voting starts. Ideally we wanted it all over with in a couple of weeks and for CC14 to start in the first half of May, but due to PSN being down these last few days we haven't got very far with the judging, and it'll be a few weeks now until I have enough time again to properly sit down and play them.
