The World gets more sad every day
Archive: 52 posts
I was just thinking... Today is April 1st...usually it's a day when you have to stay with your radar and senses on max alert. Usually it's one of those days where you avoid the internet since you know that 80% of stuff is lie. You have to watch your back from friends' jokes and whatever... But today, well...it's not the same day... No jokes online, no jokes in the real world. Everything is just the same, some jokes here and there, but nothing biggie...just same s... different day. What I think from a while is that the world is fading to gray...everything is always more and more quick, chaotic, the colours of the World are washed out if I confront them with the colours I remembered from my childhood...and... And the people is getting more and more unwilling to laugh, to socialize, to be friendly, to listen, to speak, to offer a smile to someone else. I can't word exactly my feelings in a language that is not my own, but I think I was quite clear anyway. Do you think that the world is changing, that all those bad things that daily happens...wars, catastrophes, murders, whatever is making the people annoyed, tired, disenchanted and a bit withered inside? Or do you think that it's just me that I'm getting old and refuse it? | 2011-04-01 14:38:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

I don't think the world is fading grey, I think the PEOPLE IN IT are. It seems as if everyone has gotten more serious about life, and money. Lots of people make money like there's no tomorrow! But they don't even have time to sit down with their own family, and enjoy that money. So, they end up in a recurring cycle, Make the money for today, and make more money for tomorrow. In the end of the day we're all going to Pass away. So why not enjoy your time, money, and family while your alive? Meh, but who knows? Maybe the world is dull at the moment because of all the catastrophes going on in the world: The Tutsnami in Japan, Ghadafi murdering his own people, and whatnot. Maybe after this has cleared people will be more alive, and more colorful. | 2011-04-01 16:28:00 Author: The-Questor Posts: 1328 |

Well if you think that world is fading to gray. Then change it! Instead of waiting for someone to smile at you are say hi to you. Be the first! YOU start playing the practical jokes and soon enough your friends will get annoyed and do the same to you So don't wait around for other people. Take action!!!!!! The world is less fun because people are loosing the will to make it fun. Not because of catastrophes. So many accidents happen each day then we try to ignore it, but once a big one comes. All our eyes are focused on it and won't let go. You HAVE to learn to let go and learn to live with the stuff that happens in life. Or else you'll just go down a never ending spiral of sadness | 2011-04-01 16:36:00 Author: Amigps Posts: 564 |

Find me the 2010 counterpart of that stuff... There's not http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZ9vkd7Rp-g There are actually good songs too! But yeah, I think I kinda stopped listening to new music in the early 2000s. ^.^ | 2011-04-01 17:54:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Jokes apart, it's not me, I do what everyone has said, constantly. It's just how perceive people around, when I mean the World, I mean its inhabitants. I have a shop and I see hundreds of people everyday, and people, generally, is becoming dull. Seems like hope is going away...lost. That someway scares me, beside what I can do for the world and others. | 2011-04-01 18:04:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I agree with you on people being generally miserable. Whenever I get some groceries I can't help but thing the expression on peoples faces is very zombie-like. I can assure you though it's not that bad everywhere. | 2011-04-01 18:09:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |

I think that people is getting just tired and hope can't be fed like a medicine, and it's not something endless and inexhaustible. And having the perception that everything in the World is going down the toilet, from the climate, to the overall quality of life, to wars, to natural disasters doesn't help. You can smile to people how much you want, but there's a time when people get home, switch the TV on and see only horrible things that add to the little and big things of everyone's life. You can bury your head in the sands like ostrich, but your bum remain exposed, if you know what I mean. There's this kind of fear to become a mechanic shadow, that either alienates from the world or gets cynically immune to things or just doesn't care. That's where sometimes I see we're going straight. Obviously there are areas where this feeling, this kind of life, is perceived with different degrees, diverse sensitivity...but that's not good overall. There aren't pure oasis of peace Edit: @Kernel World doesn't need perfection, it needs a will to get better, perfection is a point of idleness, of no motion, no progress, no evolution, though the direction, or just the concept of perfection is clearly messed up. | 2011-04-01 18:40:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

I don't really think about it like this. The world isn't really changing, if you look back over the last, however many years, there have always been murduers, natural disasters, etc. Anyways. I do agree that in some ways people are having a more depressed outlook on life. That's because some people just have really bad situations, or are living in tough times. I know that I still see the world as a good happy place. It compleltley depends on your outlook of life. The WORLD it self isn't changing. What the world can change its additude now? It would be the people in it that are different. maybe less people walk around with a smile on their face because when they did, they go a frown in return from the people they smile to. This eventually will have the same effect on that person. | 2011-04-01 19:16:00 Author: Unknown User |

The world is always changing, evolving. Because it's human nature to go "somewhere else", I can't feel like sayin' forward. And while we can agree that history repeats itself, even the same mistakes are brought back. | 2011-04-01 19:42:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Eh, we're getting better at this whole humanity thing. It's not good now, but it was worse back then. Our generation's going to grow up soon, and us Internet dwellers will rule and provide the world with the awesome it needs to advance as a society. But yeah, lack of jokes. Must be situational, though. | 2011-04-01 20:08:00 Author: Astrosimi Posts: 2046 |
Look, look, look. I too see how the world is getting so bleak. I started noticing it around last Halloween actually. There really wasn't much talk about the holiday around, and the same happened on Christmas. But I have sayings I tell myself, "The true meaning of life, is the meaning you give it." And "Sure someone just got robbed, but someone had to come happy out of it." I'm a bit of a believer in Karma, not too much, but when something gets me down I always look at the silver lining. I look at it this way. When you've fallen as low as you can, the only other way to go is up. Sure, some joker can look at this and go something like, "NoT If YoU DiG A HoLe." But that's their inner downer trying to get to them. But hey, go hang out with some friends and do something fun together, don't just hang out, actually DO something. More than likely, it'll cheer you up. I'll just leave this here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tiynTPuUUM | 2011-04-01 20:27:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |

That someway scares me, beside what I can do for the world and others. Remember tho that as kinds, we're more lucky-go carefree people, and can percieve that our childhood was when everything was more fun, when its really about the same, you just have a lot more worries and problems as of now, and seen more things than as a child, so you're not amused as easly, so in short, its pretty much a perception problem than a world problem. | 2011-04-01 22:56:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
That is true and our memories are selective. Our minds try to remeber the good stuff and forget the bad. We then get left with happy memories of childhood making us think it was good. | 2011-04-01 23:04:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
The more I drink the more I enjoy life. Take from that what you will. Although maybe that is more down to the fact that I drink when I'm out with mates, and when I'm out with mates I'm having fun. All is good. | 2011-04-02 00:31:00 Author: Unknown User |
I never thought that alterating my perceptions via substances or alcohol could increase my happyness, since it's only temporary, and it makes your happyness related to the consumption of the stuff, than I'm happy and I understand and appreciate things when I'm sober. So alcohol distorts your perception of reality for a while, but the reality is always the same, the only things that changes is how something else made you look at it. Not counting how much unpleasent the sheer egoism related to the decay of inhibition, could become for the people who's around you. So happier you, most sad who's around you. Not quiet the coolest move to make a better world in my humble opinion. I'm not against alcohol or whatever, but totally against the habit. | 2011-04-02 06:36:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Sometimes the world can be dreary...But it's the little things, like a smile from a stranger or an act of kindness from a friend, that really brighten it up. When you've got friends or family or even a big community that cares about you, it's as fun or happy as you make it to be. So if you keep your chin high and your attitude great towards others, they might just follow suit, and those "little things" may turn out to be bigger things. | 2011-04-02 06:44:00 Author: TheZimInvader Posts: 3149 |
I've felt the same way today, dude. Sometimes in life, you hit points like these when you feel down in the gutter and all drab. Things may look bleak- heck, even down-right depressing- but, like a shift in the weather, it doesn't last forever. They change. And just like the clouds that constantly shift and change in the sky above, so will this phase. Right now, to be honest, the world isn't exactly a happy place. I mean, Japan's still recovering, Libya is warring with itself and the economy still needs to get better. But in times like these, there's always one prevailing factor: hope. That ever-present optimistic feeling of doing the right thing when situations arise. The world has grown wiser from its 20th century strides, and I'm quite confident that these problems will be swiftly dealt with and done in a sensible, righteous manner. Give it time, and the wounds will heal. This is perfectly normal for anyone. Sometimes you have good days; sometimes you don't. But like everyone else has said, you just need to put things in a different, brighter light. And, I can assure you, you'll feel better in no time. | 2011-04-02 07:25:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
Thanks everyone, but seriously people, this is not "give Omega advices for his wrongly presumed depression ", since all the answer seems addressed to my perception It's just "who" you see around and how you see them when you get out of your home. What you see on TV, on the net. Cryogen said a thing that I noticed too, this X-Mas passed really without leaving a mark, we have not Helloween in Italy, but our Carnival passed away unnoticed too. It seems that people doesn't even want to party anymore...just my thoughts. | 2011-04-02 07:57:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Oh! That's an easy one to answer: because no one wants to deal with the drunks after the party is over. Tbh, I think it's just the commercialism that's finally catching up to us. I guess people are realizing that even TV lies sometimes. Well, I'm glad that we seemingly solved your not-actually-there depression. | 2011-04-02 08:27:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |

"According to the authors' 1997 book, The Fourth Turning, modern history repeats itself every four generations; approximately 80?100 years. The authors of the book mention that the four-cycles always come in the same order. The first one, the High cycle, occurs when a new order or human expansion is developed, replacing the older one. The next cycle is called the Awakening. More spiritual than the previous, this is a time of rebellion against the already established order. The third cycle is known as the Unraveling, when elements of individualism and fragmentation take over society, developing a troubled era which leads directly to the Fourth Turning, an era of crisis dominating society during which a redefinition of its very structure, goals, and purposes is established" You feel that way because history is repeating itself. All that 2012/end of the world stuff, all that talk of terrorism and disasters is just scare tactics and hype. After generation Y gets into power everything will change and the world will seem to calm down. Then the late Z and Alpha generations will come along and be artsy and ideological to throw off the Y generations hard, calculating mindset. Like another hippy generation. When the Beta generation grows up they will reject the Z and alpha generations ideological idealism and be more family oriented and angsty. Then their kids will grow up hard and calculating. Thats why everyone seems distant and gray to you. We are in the Fourth turning, a crossroad in history where all of the problems of the past 3 generations have formed into the problem of the new generation, who will stand up, take power from the older generations, make things better, then history will repeat itself. Last time we were in the fourth turning it was the generation that grew up to fight in World War 2. Before that it was all those old revolutions you read about in history books. All these revolutions popping up all over the world is just the transition from the fourth to first turning. This is a low point in human history, don't worry about it. After we get out of the trough, art, music, the economy, politics, the media, and society in general will take a drastic turn for the better. Trust me, I'm a pony. | 2011-04-02 10:50:00 Author: Bremnen Posts: 1800 |

Idk, I've been thinking and perhaps it's not best just to "take your mind off it". That is after all, what they did in the past a lot. But if you focus too much on what's around you, it could make you more depressed. The newer generation will be more about acceptance and more focused on the new technology (IMO)... Hmm... Maybe it's the tech that determines the future society? Well, not JUST the tech, but perhaps the majority. (Just an idea though, whatever, I just like sharing thoughts) No wait, I'm stupid. It's the pop culture. Ahh whatever. ANYWHO, back on topic. Don't worry, I'm sure it'll pass. In the next few years we'll have cheerier holidays. The whole over commercialized holidays thing is something I don't fully believe, though they are a bit over commercialized just not fully. How great would Christmas be if it wasn't for the commercialism? Ok, that seems a little bad with the wording, but what I mean is; Would you enjoy Christmas as much if there weren't any decorations or presents? It IS lame that most people need a reason to get together with family, but otherwise I think the holiday would just die out or become small. I'm not saying that's bad, but for some reason I can't explain, I believe it wouldn't be as enjoyable. I may be stupid ins mys thinkins though. :3 | 2011-04-02 20:58:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
