Avalon Lift
Archive: 10 posts
Hey LBP'teers I have a question. Is there somewhere a turtorail to make the lift that is been used also in the level: Avalon's Advanced Armaments Academy? Here is a video that shows the level, you can see the lift at: 0:10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YfjatI0u1M or, can someone explain me how to make a lift like that? | 2011-03-31 21:03:00 Author: Unknown User |
Followers. Set to follow a tag instead of a sackperson. At each turn/corner, just turn off the tag that got you there, and turn on the next one (this is obviously oversimplifying it, but hopefully you get the idea). | 2011-04-01 05:41:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
yeah, I tried that... but the lift wouldn't follow the tag | 2011-04-01 07:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hmmm... I'll have to have a go at this when I get home tonight and report back to you. I've not actually done what I proposed... it's just how I would have gone about trying to make it work. I'll let you know. | 2011-04-01 13:47:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Did it work? | 2011-04-03 09:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
Make sure the Follower on your lift has Minimum Detection Range 0. and Maximum Detection Range: max.(or however you big you want it) --gyroscope and anti-gravity can help you stabelize your lift Then set on each corner the same tag(same colour/name) Then place a seqeuncer, and with this one you can turn on the individuel tags. one at a time.(with batteries, you can activate a tag) Now there comes some timing, on how long the tag needs to be active for the lift to reach the corner.(this you can set in your seqeuncer) hope you understands this, good luck trying. PS: You see how the middle of the lift goes exactly allong the orange stripe? So make sure your follower is exactly in the middle of the lift, and the tags in the middle of the "stripe's corners" | 2011-04-03 10:17:00 Author: Dexist Posts: 570 |
Did it work? Yes... Sorry for the delay getting back to you. I had the YLOD and was forced to buy a new PS3 and migrate and reconfigure. But I am back up and running now, and I made a basic version of this yesterday. Some of what Dexist said applies to my solution... Make sure the Follower on your lift has Minimum Detection Range 0. and Maximum Detection Range: max.(or however you big you want it) --gyroscope and anti-gravity can help you stabelize your lift Then set on each corner the same tag(same colour/name) PS: You see how the middle of the lift goes exactly allong the orange stripe? So make sure your follower is exactly in the middle of the lift, and the tags in the middle of the "stripe's corners" So yes... I used a microchip at the center of my lift's car and microchips at the center of the stripe - at each corner. On the car's MC I placed a gyroscope, a tag named CAR, and a follower set to follow a tag named NEXT STOP. On each corner's MC I placed a tag named NEXT STOP that was wired up to: A tag sensor (set to tag name CAR and minimum range= 0.0 and maximum range = 0.1) whose signal leads to a perma-switch (a counter set to 1) and a NOT gate. In the starting position I also have a MC with the same set up as the corners, except that rather than triggering it via tag sensor, it is triggered by the grab switch in the car. So... we grab the switch in the car. It triggers the logic in the starting point to turn OFF the NEXT STOP tag. So now the mover detects the next closest one (at the first corner) and heads for it. When it gets there the arrival of the CAR tag shuts off its NEXT STOP tag and the mover detects the next one and starts moving again. And so on until it reaches the end. I hope this made sense. The thing to remember is that the mover will only follow one tag at a time, so the next closest, active tag is where it will head next. If you're still struggling with it, I can add some pictures of my rig. | 2011-04-03 14:18:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
could you somehow post or send a video tutorial on how to do this please, or a step by step guide would help a lot too | 2011-08-15 08:09:00 Author: Unknown User |
This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ao0QoiXuW-k) might help. It's a tutorial on how to make the moving electricity from Currant Affairs, and it shows how you can have something (like your lift) follow tags to take corners and go in different directions. Hopefully that helps! | 2011-08-15 11:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
My solution to this is to put a follower on a chip. put tags in the order you want the object to move, then add a tag sensor to the chip with the follower. set the sensor to max 0.1, then add a selector with the same amount of outputs as tags. connect the tag sensor output to the cycle of the selector, and connect the selector output to the tags in the path you want your object to move. it will follow your path | 2011-08-15 19:16:00 Author: Unknown User |
