Hiya all! This is a much-discussed thing I am sure. My take on it: Pins are awesome and, being a trophy addict as well as an obsessive-compulsive collector, I look forward to eventually getting them all. I also feel that, despite the double-edged sword of current gen games using unlockables to artificially extend game life, they can be compelling and very fun to earn, even when they are meaningless. How many of us have Dived In way more than we ever wanted to, just to up the pin completion? How many of us love the sound of "kerbloop-plop!" as much as or more than the jingle of unlocking a trophy? (Probably less people than I hope, for the purposes of this thread, but still...) Without a doubt, Mm will release more pins. Either with new playable DLC, or as a little free challenge pack to inspire players to get together and go through stories and community levels when/if the game's popularity begins to wane. It could be a few years from now, is the tragic thing! What are your thoughts on this? And then: user-created pins. These would be created in Create mode and tied to that level. They could be customized like a level title and badge, tweakable, and when unlocked by players could be deleted and sorted like community objects/photos. Many would be silly. Many would be a lovely carrot. When I fantasize about game design, my ideas often start not with gameplay, but with the reward for certain gameplay. In LBP1 and LBP2, objects and stickers are that reward. High scores, too. Why not custom pins? "Kerbloop-plop!"

I would love more pins too! As for user created pins, (this isn't meant to be advertising my level) but I came up with an achievement level that uses stickers as achievements. You unlock them from playing my games and you can turn them in the achievemnt leaderboard level. It would be cool having an in-game feature like that but it seems like people would start expect every level to include pins and then complain about a great level because they didn't have them.

More pins from Mm, yes that will happen. User generated pins? I always hear people talk about these but imagine.. You took one step NEW PIN! Second Step NEW PIN! Third.. and so on.

This is a very valid point. I can imagine every other level having floods of reviews that say "pins were lame" or suggesting better pins, or simply advertising to "come get my pins" as well as seeing levels published that unleash hundreds or thousands of copied pins, just as we've seen in the past with trophies and copied levels, playcount boosting... ugh, depressing! I suppose prizes are equal to pins anyway, and we can customize stickers to look like anything... wow, I'll check out those levels. You've given me a lot to think about. Another valid point. I was thinking too much about the positive applications and personal fun I'd have with it, but it'd be drowned in a sea of spammed pinnery (a word?). Still, it's great to know we'll get new ones from Mm. I just hope it's soon... By the way, I see your latest 3 games played are LBP, LBP2 and RDR in your signature, which are more or less the only games I've got on my PS3 profile period. We oughta meet up! Like interests and all that.

More pins from MM sounds good. And User Generated could be nice, but if sharing is disabled on them.

It would be nice if MM could put pins onto the POTC/MGS DLC packs, but it probably won't happen. Hopefully any of the new main DLC packs will have pins with them along with the trophies they tend to usually bring.

It's probably to late for now, but ofcorse i expect that pins for even smaller DLC like Marvel or Monster Pack. Pins it's outside control of Sony and MM can add them freely as they want ;]

I would love some New Challenging Pins from Mm. They can be free or with some DLC packs, but I just want more pins to collect. User created Pins: Sounds like a good idea but it will be overused a lot by new or noobish players. I think, if Mm puts this feature ever in the game, that you could choose between the Pin shapes and then give them a nice sticker. When visiting someone's Earth, you can see two sorts of pins instead of the current 3 pins. You can choose 3 from your collected ones made by Mm and you can choose 3 from the collected ones from the community. You can also delete the pins you got by the community, like the community items and stickers. So, it's a good idea and it will be used very nice by good LBP players, but then you will get some crappy pins of the noobs and newbies of LBP.

Quite frankly, I don't give pins or trophies much thought. But I see the point of maybe allowing up to, say, 3 user generated pins per level. It makes a lot more sense than prize bubbles containing random c**p made out of sponge or useless stickers.

about the user created pins they could make a option to turn off collecting pins from other creators like you can do with prizes and stuff...
