Why does LBP do this?

When I make a level I usually have the music start playing by placing a counter, inverting it and then connecting it to the music. This usually works fine when I test the level but sometimes when I activate it during create mode it just stops all-together. I will go into play mode tons of times without touching the sound and counter and the music does not play. It seems to do this at random too. I found the only fix to this is to delete the music, re-place it and then re-connect it to the counter, but a few triggers later it stops working again. Anyone know what I'm doing to break it or how to possibly fix this? I know tons of other methods of playing music, I just like this method and it's strange that it randomly breaks. Just having a normal trigger radius on the music works guaranteed but it does not play the music through create mode which I like, where the other method does. Halp? TL;DR: I set up an inverted counter and connected it to music and it randomly stops working. http://id.lbp.me/img/ft/efd36373b5bfac9c89a40e56041c55802d037527.jpg This is what it looks like, default placed music and counter except the counter has been inverted. | 2011-03-30 06:07:00 Author: Shippage Posts: 11 |
Just a thought, but would a battery connected to the music keep it going once it's activated? I don't much enjoy the LBP music selection, so I've never really messed much with it. Sorry I'm not more help. : | 2011-03-30 06:59:00 Author: Ninja_Gnome23 Posts: 198 |

Sorry I'm not more help. : As long as the battery is active and is giving out a positive output then it should play the music. I don't see why you would really use a battery though. | 2011-03-30 07:12:00 Author: Shippage Posts: 11 |
Just put a NOT switch to it and connect it to its own reset. | 2011-03-30 07:15:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
Just put a NOT switch to it and connect it to its own reset. completely off topic but you have an epic avatar! i want it lol | 2011-03-30 07:40:00 Author: Epicurean Dreamer Posts: 224 |
Another solution is putting a battery on a sequencer for the length of time you want it active. just make sure that the sequencer is slightly longer than the battery, otherwise it won't turn off. What concerns me is that there is no switch or trigger for starting the music. So when you are switching to and from create mode you need to be very careful that you have had the level paused so it hasn't started counting before you enter create. | 2011-03-30 07:49:00 Author: Strangepom Posts: 445 |

So when you are switching to and from create mode you need to be very careful that you have had the level paused so it hasn't started counting before you enter create. Usually when I go out of pause I always rewind so everything I do while in play gets undone so that isn't much of a worry. completely off topic but you have an epic avatar! i want it lol I'm probably wrong about this but isn't that picture from one of the perks in Fallout 3/New Vegas? | 2011-03-30 07:52:00 Author: Shippage Posts: 11 |
Just a tip: I usually zero out any counters in create mode if I accidentally trigger anything. Then save, this is handy with my cutscenes that trigger once and do not need re-setting as they're only meant to be activated once. Probably doesn't help your specific problem. But the battery solution should work even though I've not tried it as it works for other things in the level I'm working on. | 2011-03-30 13:44:00 Author: LittleBigDes Posts: 920 |
...sometimes when I activate it during create mode it just stops all-together. Music boxes typically stop playing in Create Mode whenever you switch to hover mode - that's just the way it works. I don't quite understand what you're trying to accomplish. | 2011-03-30 17:14:00 Author: Aya042 Posts: 2870 |
