Annoying Threat in LittleBigPlanet

Recently, I've been Diving In to find new friends or other players to tag along with, but sometimes I run into these type of people:Costume Stealers. They're these Uncreative or selfish people who, as soon as you join their party, will Quickly goto their My Moon, open their Gadgets Bag, pullout a Sackbot, set it to Copy Costume Player2,3, or 4, & save it. I have almost been a victim to this nearly EVERY day. Have you been a victim to this? Discuss. :kz: | 2011-03-30 03:24:00 Author: IronSkullKid99 Posts: 515 |

I have almost been a victim to this nearly EVERY day. Have you been a victim to this? Discuss. :kz: I guess you could kinda remedy this by wearing as much DLC as you can when Diving in... Unless the costume glitch is still there? That's what I do. I wear the LBP2 Week One T-Shirt, and the Bug Blaster Spraycan. You could also hide like, a sticker from a pack that isn't very common somewhere on you. I'm currently doing that with a photo of Alex Evans on my nose, but that's not DLC... I don't really care about my costume being "stolen" by friends, so I just give them DLC-free versions of my costume, to do whatever they want with it, but strangers collecting other strangers' costumes is kinda creepy. | 2011-03-30 03:29:00 Author: KlawwTheClown Posts: 1106 |
Just switch to the basic costume before you die in... | 2011-03-30 03:30:00 Author: jalr2d2 Posts: 256 |
my solution...go naked...sure it isnt as great or fun to be regular sackboy (speaking for myself here) but its only in create mode...so you can always have fun with people with your costumes anywhere else...so its only a minor issue if you're not careful | 2011-03-30 03:48:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
When in doubt, go au natural as a brown knit sackboy (or chunky brown knit if you're bold enough). No worries then. | 2011-03-30 03:52:00 Author: siberian_ninja15 Posts: 444 |
Yet another good reason not to use dive in (-_-) but that's oneway people make friends... so i guess like people say if you just have to use dive in best to put on a blank costume or at least a very simple one, i run around in this costume a lot even tho i can make far more detailed costumes but sometimes i enjoy the simpleness of it http://www.freewebs.com/chaoswinds/Sozo/Sozosack01.jpg here's what 2 of my normal persona costumes look like below http://www.freewebs.com/chaoswinds/Sozo/Sozosack0.jpg yeah if i was gonna be around people I'm unsure of I'd for sure just put on the simple costume i showed *mew | 2011-03-30 04:28:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
I would wander over to the Finding Other Happy Gadders forum and find some decent folks to play LBP with. | 2011-03-30 05:08:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I usually go in dressed like me... http://i3.lbp.me/img/ft/333cbeda2b0b2bf20ee92d0ed131620a73436924.jpg ... and announce, "I've got my my life preserver, my cape, my helmet, my sword, my boots, and my boxers. I'm ready for anything!" People generally tend to kick me out before they copy me. | 2011-03-30 05:23:00 Author: nextlevel88 Posts: 149 |
My costume is copyrighted. I'll sue those sly weasels if they're trying to copy my own awesome look. | 2011-03-30 08:15:00 Author: Coconuts Posts: 384 |
Why not play em at their own game? Spend a bit of time practicing on your own, shaving milliseconds off the time it takes to whip out a sackbot, steal a costume and make a hasty exit. Having a pre-prepared sackbot as the first item on your "my objects" list would probably help. I'm sure with practice you can become the fastest draw in LBP and leave those costume bandits sprawling in the dust. | 2011-03-30 08:54:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
funny thing...we should make some PETA advertisements A LA LBP showing a normal nude sackboy saying something like: "I'd rather play in *insert default skin name here* then steal someone's costume" or something to that effect | 2011-03-30 08:58:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
A solution patch that would fix this annoyance and the sackbot DLC bug are the sackbots not copying the players costume untill playmode. But still, costume stealers seem annoying, but I cant ever get online because of latency. | 2011-03-30 13:02:00 Author: Cactii Posts: 426 |
When people see me dressed as Hitler, they normally boot me anyway They must think I'm a Nazi - but it's a horror/history costume, in the same vien as Ghegis Khan etc. They can try and steal it if they want to get booted | 2011-03-30 13:12:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |

It's also very effective in real life. It's how I roll when I don't want people stealing my look when I go to work every day. http://www.freewebs.com/chaoswinds/Sozo/Sozosack0.jpg Or this. No one is ever gonna' wanna' copy your costume if you run around looking like this. Kidding of course. Interesting costumes fumetsu... fumetsezo... fumets... arghh... Interesting costumes man! (Wasn't kidding about the naked thing though, I've been fired from 3 jobs so far because of it.) | 2011-03-30 13:49:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
*Caution: I'm told this costume is "extremely" offensive - and not at all cute or funny in the slightest! Open at your own risk! http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g140/gairns/Hitler.jpg | 2011-03-30 13:57:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |

You're a guy!? But...but...the cutesy pink pony...or whatever it is!! It's a Mew avatar... I'm a fan of the Pokemon Mew... and i based my white persona you can see in the link also loosely on Mew but unlike Mew... Me & my white mewish persona is male (>.>) | 2011-03-30 15:30:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

Oh...m'kay. I must say, I'm well and truly bemewsed by your penchant for such a cute, fluffy and vomit inducing creature. you sound like you'd be a fan of Mew's evil clone Mewtwo http://images.wikia.com/pokemon/images/4/48/Mewtwo.jpg he's the one who is normally more popular with man who are scared of cute things. ;P also here's a pic of the cute mew so you know the difference http://pokemon-pokedex.findthebest.com/sites/default/files/620/media/images/Mew.jpg PS: sorry for going somewhat off topic Doods~ I'll try not to keep doing it xP *mew | 2011-03-30 15:54:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Uhhh... I just figured you thought you were a cat in a previous life... or this one. Huh... pop culture these days is more confuzzling than ever. :hrmf: | 2011-03-30 15:59:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
@Ungreth I might try that. But I don't know if it would matter, since most Costume Stealers don't wear anything good...(Which is the reason they do it in the first place) @Rusbukkit Make it #4. @Macneme Try using Combover hair & something more linear for the mustache...Wait, why am I helping you make Hitler? @Snax Same idea. Make it so that when you set it to Copy a Player's Costume, it won't have an effect, until you're in Play Mode. @fumetsusozo Nice Costumes, but everyone knows Skarmory's the best Pokemon. :kz: @Shadowcrazy Yeah, with the Uncle Sam Pose. Hmm, this gives me an idea for a costume... @siberian_ninja15 Raiden or Wooden Knight Skin for me. :kz: @jalr2d2 "Die" in? @KlawwTheClown That's what I'm afraid of. I saw a person still wearing a Prize Crown & Bugblaster a couple of weeks ago. @jwwphotos I dunno. I'll have to try that sometime. @nextlevel88 ...Unless your cape gets snagged in a jet turbine. @Coconuts Sueing Sly Weasels? I'm in. :kz: | 2011-03-30 22:00:00 Author: IronSkullKid99 Posts: 515 |
Once, somebody joined me while I was making a Sackbot with logic. It happened to be wearing one of my favorite costumes, and they took it (I think it was for the logic). I don't mind them taking the logic, so I told them to change the costume, recapture, and delete the old one. But you never know who does and who doesn't; you can't see their screen. It wasn't even a really good costume, but I liked it because I hadn't seen anyone else with something like it. Now I'm worried I'll be seeing it again -- but not on me. | 2011-03-31 01:52:00 Author: Number7Million Posts: 248 |
Everyone, well mostly everyone, has a good opinion on doing this. My suggestion? Wear the normal beginner sackboy or wear a simple not so complex, costume, like a sketch hat, tentacles, and tired eyes. Let them think your uncreative. What makes it hard if you wear a good costume and the person tries to steal is the loading screen which stomps you on the ground. Don't risk it. | 2011-03-31 02:23:00 Author: Spazz Posts: 484 |
I think it's the nose... I think it's the spider booger....I'm scared of spiders too D: | 2011-03-31 02:48:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
I find it slightly funny, if only because the toothbrush mustache looks like it needs some grooming. Incidently, I am jealously protective of my costumes given how much time I work on them to come off as distinctive. So I guess I'll just have to remember to wear my less impressive efforts in situations like this. | 2011-03-31 03:03:00 Author: Dapiek Absaroka Posts: 512 |
I say just watch who you play with. I mean really, what holds a complete stranger from doing this? Remember, trying to show off may bite ya back if not careful, so try to just play costumeless or with quick costumes you don't really care about, or as said, with DLC hiddend in it, tho that's more effort than its worth... So yeah, just careful when playing with randoms and this won't be a problem at all. | 2011-03-31 03:11:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
@ @[COLOR="LightBlue"]nextlevel88 ...Unless your cape gets snagged in a jet turbine. /Sigh What do you think the life preserver is for? !C'mon, pay attention, would ya?!?! | 2011-03-31 04:41:00 Author: nextlevel88 Posts: 149 |
I've hidden stickers from all of the most obscure dlc's in my main costume (the Optimus Prime one) specifically for this reason. If somebody wants to steal my costume, they're gonna' have to shell out like $12 or something and buy two slurpees to make it work | 2011-03-31 20:58:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
hey're gonna' have to shell out like $12 or something and buy two slurpees to make it work Well if they did, at least you know your helping MM by making them more money~ xD *mew | 2011-03-31 21:21:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

If I had a nickle for everyone that has a version of my main costume I wouldn't be typing this from work. I have to laugh at it. Makes gadding with them funny and sometimes their variations on the costume are hysterical. Then again - these are my friends mostly. If someone I didn't know stole it.... ya I'd be angry, but I'd get over it quickly. EDIT: Oh, btw, dressing up as rtm doesn't make you better at logic..... I've tried | 2011-03-31 22:48:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
I have to laugh at it. Makes gadding with them funny and sometimes their variations on the costume are hysterical. This ^ I would get mad if someone just copied my costume and used it as is...makes me feel like my identity is stolen (we all know im the TRUE shadow hatter). But having creative and fun people remix it to make their own variations is neato | 2011-03-31 22:56:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |

Hence, the name, annoying. I don't want to always have to reset my costume just because of these people. I just want to express & show my creativity throughout LittlebigPlanet. :kz: | 2011-04-01 03:06:00 Author: IronSkullKid99 Posts: 515 |
