The Temple of the Golden Cat Creator: carno_US (and wife ) Location: North of Africa The icon looks something like this, if you can't find it, search for my PSN ID http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/4786/iconohj8.jpg Summary Well this is my second level and the first one I build with my wife. Lots of hours of hard work were put into this so I hope you all enjoy it. Almost all the assets are original with the exception of a few trees. Please note the custom creatures and the final puzzle The objetive of the stage is to venture into the jungle and find the long lost Golden Cat. Sackboy is not alone on his journey though, his good pal and local guide Demostenes is with him to give him advice. Don't forget to heart it (and me ) if you enjoyed it. It means a lot to have some positive feedback and motivates us a lot to keep making levels. I can't find it... Care to add me so I can play it for you? | 2008-11-30 02:42:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
A very original feel for a pretty worked theme. There's a good feeling you get when you play a level that just seems to work. This is one of those levels. Everything was very nicely done, and the cats were pretty cute as well. It definitely earned a heart from me, good job. | 2008-11-30 03:20:00 Author: Cloud Posts: 74 |
Ah I found it, let me play it and give you some feedback. Ok, very good level, I just saw one problem in the whole thing, real easy fix, after you open the door that has the switch on it, the furthest layer in the back has a gap in the floor, so I wanted to check if there was a secret down there, but I fell down out of the level, I'm pretty sure that wasn't suppose to happen. Hope you know what I'm talking about. Other then that, good level, everything worked, the difficulty is really balanced, it's one of those things that goes has you die once or twice, but you finally get it the third time and you move on, lot's of checkpoints in well placed spots. Good story, good theme, 8/10 Overall. | 2008-11-30 03:22:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
I'm glad you both liked @Cloud Thanks for hearting, the wife was quite happy to hear you liked her cats XD @Whaaaaale You are right, I found that gap but instead of fixing it I made it a secret passage It's not up yet, I'm fixing other issues, but please check it out when It's online | 2008-12-01 12:39:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
I agree with most of what has already been said so I will not leave a wall of text here but there is one more important thing I need to mention: that cats are sitting on slabs of dark matter that stand out for all the wrong reasons. This is easily fixed so I hope you make the change. I loved the traps, especially the mini-shurikens, very cool. The cats were great and there was a lot of polish. Great work | 2008-12-01 12:50:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
how would you fix the dark matter? We made them that way so we could just copy them in order to not rise the thermometer too much (it's over 95% ) but still be able to change their angle. | 2008-12-01 12:55:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
You can color the dark matter with a sticker. Please not that some stickers will NOT change the color of the dark matter but some will so it really is trial and error. I would suggest doing a custom sticker with the material used to make the cats and see if that works. Otherwise plain black would look much better then that deep sea green Oh and one more thing. Your level is full of custom content so why not give the same treatment to the trees? Just a thought... | 2008-12-01 13:04:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
Good idea, I'll try it when I get home. At first I wanted everything to be custom but one afternoon I arrived and she had already placed the trees... how could I argue I think those two trees are the only non-custom content, even the other trees at the beginning are custom. Maybe we'll change them but since they are so well designed even if I remade them they would look similar so I don't know if it's worth it | 2008-12-01 13:34:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
she had already placed the trees... how could I argue Lol. Although my wife did not help in the creation of my level, my obsession with finishing it caused a couple of arguments Have a look at it when you get a chance and leave a thought or two on my thread, thanks. | 2008-12-01 13:39:00 Author: OCK Posts: 1536 |
I've been reworking this level, fixed a couple of bugs and added a new secret zone. I'll upload this soon with a new walkthrough video | 2008-12-10 14:57:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
That was a very funky level. I really liked the art design and the platforming, though complex and tricky, was very cool. Just one question though... there is a secret bit that has a low celing and spikes on the roof and floor, and then a prize bubble in sight... but I can't work out how to get past the spikes. Am I missing something? | 2008-12-10 17:30:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
To get past the spikes you just need to press the jump button lightly, since it's pressure sensitive, the longer you press it, the higher you jump. I will upload soon a video with the full level covered | 2008-12-12 13:09:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
Yeah this level was like finding a needle in a haystack...but i finally managed to. I loved it man, hearted and 5 stars <3 | 2008-12-12 19:43:00 Author: Neverynnal Posts: 374 |
I republished the level with a couple of bugs fixed and a new secret area (the one OCK found) Also, I just updated the first post with a video, it's pretty bad quality but I hope it motivates more people to play my level or help those looking for the three secret areas. | 2008-12-13 20:27:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
No one wants to try the new version? come on people find that new secret room or just watch the video | 2008-12-17 14:29:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
This is a beautiful and fun level. I accidentally found your secret passage, and it is an awesome addition. Some of the spikes gave me fits, but were not over the top at all. What could be better? Only another level for Mr. Sack. | 2008-12-18 03:17:00 Author: Trystian Posts: 59 |
Thanks, I believe you got the first place on the scoreboard too We are thinking on another level... they still need to deliver the statue so we might work on that | 2008-12-18 18:32:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
Hi, I played your level and LOVED IT A LOT!Some of my thought: -It is a well-construct and visually very attractive level. -The overall level is polished -A lot of custom contents: i loved your spiders, your cats and snakes. -Your level constitute a good plateforming challenge and is very fun to play. -The secret areas are very well integrated. 5 stars and hearted! I look forward for your next productions | 2008-12-28 10:57:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
Thanks a lot for your comments, I just moved to a new house so I won't have internet access for a while, but I'm working on a wild west themed paintinator level Check out my other levels in the meanwhile , the first is from the beta and is called "the sky is the limit" it's a pure platforming level. The other is a tank based level called "tank skirmish: edelweiss desert mission" with some fresh ideas and somewhat different controls (since I think that most tanks controls awful) | 2008-12-30 21:26:00 Author: carno Posts: 24 |
We played this yesterday with three of us and it was great fun, really nice work and enjoyed every minute of it. Cheers QuozL | 2008-12-31 03:48:00 Author: QuozL Posts: 921 |
OK, so I finally reviewed the level and here's my view on it: The level story was actually pretty awesome for a LittleBigPlanet level, so that's really great. The guy that calls you Mr. Sack duing the level was very well dialogued too so it didn't feel so annoying to read that "Speech Bubble". Apart from that, the platforming aspect is really cool with the various traps, etc. that you have. I got to the point where I had one life left where you had to dodge the rotating spikes of doom but thankfully made it to the end. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the "Secret Passage", but I might re-play the level later to see where it is and such. The level was very well thought out and I look forward to seeing some more of your levels. LEVEL Hearted + CREATOR Hearted | 2008-12-31 04:09:00 Author: harrypmgaga Posts: 114 |
