Best time to publish a level?
Archive: 10 posts
I was wondering what the best time and day to publish a level is, with which LBP is most active. Can you please leave a time zone as well...thanks | 2011-03-29 23:12:00 Author: hungryhippo Posts: 76 |
That's a really good question. I suppose it would vary somewhat. I'm in the Eastern Timezone, so things tend to be most active at 1-7 for me (When most EU folks are on), or 7pm-3am (When most NA users are on). I've got friends that will go into story mode ad look at the number of online players on levels. The reasoning is that if the numbers are high there, they should be high across the board. They figure that helps. | 2011-03-30 02:06:00 Author: tdarb Posts: 689 |
"Technically" weekends (Friday included) at about past 6:00pm, at least that what people usually used to do. Nowdays tho, doesn't REALLY matte, may make a difference, but it really should make a "huge" impact on plays. You could always Lock it after published, and publish another copy different days and hours and test it out. I mean, who knows, I could be wrong and there may indeed be a "peak" time that may boost your plays consideribly. Hope that helps! | 2011-03-30 02:11:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I've never seen a definite answer to this question, but if it helps, my most successful level (85k+ plays) was published on a Friday at around 2-3 am GMT-7. | 2011-03-30 02:37:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
I would say a friday night is best, that is if your certain you can make it to cool pages, page one in before saturday evening. If so, this is the best time since every level on the cool pages will stay on for 2 days, leading to monday, which over the weekend is busy due to no work and days off. Hope this helped | 2011-03-30 10:24:00 Author: Unknown User |
I had posted a similar thread a couple of weeks ago. I recently published my level and put it up on a Friday about 10am our time, but I feel that is an overly popular time to publish and your level might get pushed down more quickly. I feel like I did everything right as far as making the level look interesting from the icon, the description, and posted it in the forum here. Unfortunately I don't have many psn friends and the ones that I do have are local people that don't want to hear about the ps3 doing anything besides CoD. From what I have learned reading similar posts going back to Lbp1 having friends to help your rating quickly after it is published is one of the best tactics in getting it some staying power on the lists. So my new feeling on publishing, is that you must do it when you can get the most support for the launch no matter what day it is. Just thought I would give another opinion from someone that has not had much success so far with getting their levels played. | 2011-03-30 18:17:00 Author: Ace29 Posts: 132 |
Depends... do you want lots of plays... or Mm to see it? If you want plays, I'd go with the Friday option. It's the weekend and both adults and kids alike are getting home and unwinding with a little bit of play time before dinner or serious create mode. If you're hoping Mm see's it so it can get an Mm pick, find out when this guy is coming back from his smoke break, then publish. http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww28/Rustbukkit/monkey_smoking_1a.jpg | 2011-03-30 18:22:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
Best time to publish is when a level is thoroughly playtested and guaranteed not to turn players off because of some annoying bug! | 2011-03-30 19:31:00 Author: Discosmurf Posts: 210 |
It seems like the last post was kind of directed towards me. Maybe I'm just being oversensitive but I see plenty of levels with lots of plays that have 'bugs fixed' or 'will patch soon' in their description. That is kind of what the F4F is all about, making levels better so that they will gain popularity. The bottom line is the more visible a level is the more plays it will get, because when a level is initially published nobody who plays it knows if its broken or not, they just see the ratings and if anyone is currently in the level. | 2011-03-30 22:33:00 Author: Ace29 Posts: 132 |
I think the best time to publish a level was August 4th 1985 at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. I believe it was a Sunday. I know LBP wasn't around back then, but if there was ever a best time to publish, that was it. | 2011-03-31 07:24:00 Author: tdarb Posts: 689 |
