Theck & Thack Material

Archive: 8 posts

I have found that the Theck & Thack glitched material are very uesful in character design or to overcome the 3D background taking up the thin layer, being that the Theck & Thack materials take up a single thick layer...

My question is;

Has anyone been able to create a 2 layer Theck or Thack material?

You mean a full Thick layer + Thin layer + Theck/Thack in front or back? I've never seen such a thing, myself.

What you might try, though is -

Drop a full Thick layer block and a Theck block on the layer closer to the screen. Select both objects, then back out to your Popit, select a material, and place a block. Doing that with thin layers in the extra layers allows you to create materials of any thickness - perhaps selecting a half-thick layer and a full layer lets you do the same?

I'll try it myself in a few and see if it works.

EDIT:
Nope. It doesn't. It'll create a two-layer thick piece (with thack), not a 1.5-layer piece. The other way I heard of crazy layers being created is switching layers while placing blocks, but I've never gotten that to work.

Thanks for the effort. I tried a bunch of stuff but couldn't recreate the old glitch let alone a new version of it...2011-03-30 04:10:00

I believe Sehven has done it before - it's a fairly simple variation on the traditional way of making single-layer theck and thack, but you can only do it in LBP1.

Hm... if that's true... Wild.

I need to resist the urge to eject LBP2!

I've never actually done it, but I've heard of it being done. Basically, instead of going from thick to thin and clicking X in between, you go from two layers to one layer and click X in between to get a thick+theck layer, or go from one layer to two layers and click X in between to get a thick+thack layer. As I said, I've never tested it and I've never seen materials that had it done so I can't corroborate. And yeah, as Aya said, you can only reproduce the theck/thack glitch in LBP1 so, if this technique is possible at all, it'll only work in LBP1.
