Omega's awful Odissey with LBP2
Archive: 17 posts
After having waited the game to be released late in my Country. After having been forced to buy a standard edition, since the Collector's ones didn't exist here. After having to cope with a bug that doesn't let me have the fire, plasma and electric hazard in my pop it... Yesterday, after like 1 month without touching the game, I tried to boot it...and...error 80010514. The PS3 doesn't read the LBP2 disc. The system tells me to try to clean the game and retry to boot. The disc was clean but I cleaned it MOAR, still not working. The other suggestion is to try another game to see if it works...I booted Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption and they worked, so I retried LBP2 and it worked but...I don't have any of my saved object in my pop it. Nothing, Nicht, Zero, Nada, Nyet, un c**zo di straf**tutissimo niente... So, depressed I switched the game off. I really felt the creative mood and need to create...and it happens once in a blue moon Then there hasn't been a way to load it again. But the disc works and the BluRay drive too, since I could install Prehistoric Move without problems. Hopefully the problem is the last Firmware update that I installed via USB, since my home ADSL has been out of order for a while... I'm so down with this game, nothing works as it should for me... End of rant Does anyone else has problems every now and then with the game? | 2011-03-28 07:53:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I feel for ya. Not a bug problem but.. Some days I get fed up with logic not doing what I want, and I am tempting to give up creating. Why bother if it's not fun right? :/ The game definitely has some issues, I know you are not alone. MM delay the game "to get it working for people without internet", but it still has problems. I avoid playing/creating online due to that darn loading screen. | 2011-03-28 08:03:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Yeah, sometimes it seems that I'm complaining abot the picks or other stuff... That's stuff I really don't care about and I just talk about it both for principle and for fun's sake, since there are people here that worship every thing MM do. But hey, things are really ugly with the game. That's not good to throw your creativity, your artistic impulse down the drain, because something doesn't work as it should. | 2011-03-28 08:12:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

I'm mainly a server coder (checkout my work over on http://lbp2blog.com, my fav ATM is http://LBP-me.lbp2blog.com) Sometimes I've had days where the coding wouldn't do exactly like I wanted, and I've had to switch hosts a couple of times (3rd switch soon) but does that make me just stop doing this stuff? No! It's life stuff will happen, I believe in your case there's a number in the case that you can call for a replacement disc. But just take a break while your waiting for the new disc and then slam into creating :3 | 2011-03-28 09:32:00 Author: fodawim Posts: 363 |

Aww, Omega, I'm sad to hear that the game has got you down. I would try running the disc on another PS3. If the disc is misbehaving there, then contact Sony for a disc replacement. I'm not really sure what's going on with your bugged popit, but it sounds like something is seriously corrupted there. Have you mentioned this to Mm? And as for CE, who gives a ****? I didn't bother to buy it either | 2011-03-28 13:03:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
Sorry to hear that Omega. Feel really bad for you and hope you can resolve asap. I did a search and found a more recent link to this issue. Seems you and Daj have something in common. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22715-PS3-Error-80010514-game-disc-recognition-and-execution Good luck!!! | 2011-03-28 14:04:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
same thing happened to me, I had to go through story all over again and all the tutorials =/ I know it sucks, basicly what I do is just play something else and not play lbp for like 1 week or 2, you should get mortal kombat or something and by the time you know it, you'll forget about all this. And yeah make sure you get a USB Device thing to save everything that really helps ^^ | 2011-03-28 14:11:00 Author: Bloo_boy Posts: 1019 |

I didn't bother to buy it either The pop-it bug is well known, I have reported it ages ago, and I'm not the only one having it. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=46817-Missing-hazards-pop-it-bug Sorry to hear that Omega. I checked that stuff yesterday but it seems that's not working on Slim models, but I'll retry tonight. I did some searches since I was deciding to open the PS3 and swap the BluRay drive of the slim with the BluRay drive of the fat PS3 that I receovered from the YLOD, but it seems that BluRay drives are connected with the motherboards in a univocal way, so they're kind of registered. Anyway I'll wait the new firmware update before doing anything. Sometime those mofos mess everything. And I didn't lost the story stuff, only the objects I made (maybe even pics but didn't check) | 2011-03-28 14:26:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Weird. Cesar72 reported the same issue to me with the lethalize tools. He found he could use the logic switch to do the same thing, so he doesn't care anymore... but still, bummer. | 2011-03-28 18:19:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Hope it gets better :'( I feel for you, and CE isn't that great, I have it, and regret buying it. | 2011-03-28 18:30:00 Author: Flamento Posts: 352 |
Yeah, CCubbage you can set the property of the materials with the logic, but it consume some thermo that you may find useful later on Well, about the Collector's Edition, that means that I have to buy all the DLCs separately and it will surely cost more, a steel case isn't that much. I managed to use the tip that jww mentioned and dajdaj used. It worked one time. The PS3 clearly recognizes that the system file contains errors and it corrects them, but after I play LBP2 the file gets corrupt again, so it might be some code related to the game itself. It's annoying and I will surely have to wait the new firmware update who knows when...bah...worst gaming experience ever...if it wasn't for the friends and the cool people here I would have already thrown the game into the toilet. | 2011-03-28 21:09:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I have the pop-it glitch too... my plasma puppy is scared of meh Anyways, I hope that everything gets fixed and/or worked out with the bug Im sorry to see that the cute kitty in your pic is crying too I hope sony heals the magic fairies in the blu-ray drive so they can taste the LBP2 disc cover art again | 2011-03-29 02:33:00 Author: chinook3 Posts: 453 |
Well, it really seems that the problem is in the firmware/game... Everything works but LBP2...I managed to reset the system file but the game corrupts it every time I manage to load it. It's annoying. A lot | 2011-04-03 14:05:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
UPDATES... Some of these infos might be usuful for someone else in the future...I hope not, but better to spread a bit of infos I learnt about how the PS3 works. So, after trying many times the procedure jww mentioned, the system file restore one, and talking to Aya a bit, I'm definitely into the idea that the problem is right in the system file and the HDD. When I enter the system secret menu and ask to restore the system file, my PS3 clearly recognizes (it writes it) that the file is corrupted and tries to restore it. Every time I restore the file, the game may or may not work...with a 25 to 33% of time only working, but when the game loads, there isn't any kind of hiccup, so the problem is not on the disc, that is PERFECT and MINT. Then after I exit the game or switch off the console, and try to reboot LBP2, the game doesn't work again. I have to say that I changed the PS3 regular HDD (an Hitachi for those who doesn't know) with a Western Digital Scorpio 500 GB 7200 RPM. And the sequence of the game not working is this. I select the game icon, press X, screen turns into the background pic and all the XMB icons vanish, then a screen with Error 80010514 appears. I tried 3 different operation during the week end. 1- Backup all my data into a new HDD, ask the PS3 to remove all the user's data (but it doesn't allow you to erase all of them, one must remain...reasons later ) and then reload my backup. This operation requires a lot of time, 17 hours to back up and other 8-9 hours to reload the backup. Results... The game loaded once and didn't a second time. 2 - Format the HDD via the PS3 internal tool, this needed almost 27 hours. When booted, the PS3 asked me to insert a storing device with Firmware 3.61 or higher (???) to inizialize the system Results... When the system was finally restarted, the user datas I couldn't erase was still there. And the error persisted...in the same exact way. 3 - I took the HDD out of the PS3, put it into an enclosure an jacked it to the PC. I formatted the HDD to NTFS and then converted the 460 GB of the Logical partition to FAT32... but the HDD has a primary partition of 7,48 MB that can't be erased in any way. I tried to format it from Fat32 to NTFS and then remove it but there's no awful way to do it. Still when I plugged the HDD again into the PS3, all the data was gone, so I had to reinitialize the system, upload again the firmware and set everything. I was able to load the game, obviously, then when I exited it and then try again to load it, things went a bit different. Now the game start in a regular way...screen fades to black and sparkles blur then vanish. Then the screen becomes grey, black again, grey, black in the space of 5-10 seconds, then I'm prompted again in the XMB where the system tells me again of the error. At this point I really don't know what to do, but main option is buying another new HDD and try if it works...and yeah 2 500 GB HDD I really don't need at 55 ? each isn't the coolest of things. I can try to lend the game to a friend and see if he has problems with it, but I'm sure it doesn't, since when the PS3 is in "perfect" condition, the game loads flawlessly. So, some tech genious around has some idea? | 2011-05-23 14:18:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I say go ahead and let a friend of yours test it, just to get that not knowing out of the way for sure. | 2011-05-23 14:43:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
