Menu camera help

Archive: 11 posts

I am having an issue with my menu camera remaining active after the player has been ejected from the controllinator. I am using a movie camera with infinite length (not sure if that is the problem). When I look at it in create mode, the movie camera does not have power going to it after the player is ejected, but the camera remains on. I've tried having a game camera activate, but the movie camera seems to override it. Is there a way to deactivate a movie camera with infinite length?2011-03-28 07:50:00

I believe the only way to disable an infinite movie camera is to just activate a different camera. Whatever ejects the player could trigger a new camera and boom, the camera should free up. It can be set to 0 transition time and 0 hold time and you wouldn't even know it's there. This may also work with a game camera, not sure.2011-03-28 07:58:00

Yup, the 0 hold and transition is the way to go. Good luck2011-03-28 17:14:00

Hi
Its the infinite lenght. If a movie camera is set to infinite time, once its triggered it will stay on and all views are forced to view this camera, even once you exit the seat. As the other guys have suggested, the second camera on 0 will indeed free the camera view. The hold time is the lenght of time the movie camera stays active for 0- is an instant 'off', invinite is always on. Try the following-
On the controllinator seats chip, pllace 2 movie cameras. make camera As hold time to infinate and camera Bs hold time to 0.1.
Now, connect up the input on the controllinator to camera A.
Beside camera B place a NOT gate and wire this into camera B. From the control seats input take another wire and hook it up it the input on the NOT gate.

-HOW THIS WORKS-
When the player enters the controllinator seat, it activates camera A (the infinate view), but when the player ejects from the seat, it deactivates the controllinator and the NOT gate gate fires. As this reverses the input it recieves, it will activate camera B (the one set to hold time of 0.1) and as this camera is only active for a second, and the other camera isd now inactive, it will break the infinite view. Hope this helps

Was I correct in assuming that an infinite movie camera will override a game camera? Thanks to all that replied!2011-03-28 22:36:00

As is usually the case, I get one issue resolved and then another one pops up... It is still a menu issue, but I am completely stumped on this one. I have another menu system that is accessed via remote controllinator. For some reason, the menu works in create mode, but not in play mode. Has anyone had this problem before? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!2011-03-29 19:16:00

Have you made sure that your sackperson is entering the controllinator in play mode? I'm guessing if it's a menu system, your spawnpoint is behind the scenes.

The other possibility - one I've encountered before - is that your movie camera is already active when you enter play mode and is preventing you from entering the controllinator that normally kicks off the whole thing.

Failing either of those two things, I think you might need to be a little more specific with how you've wired everything up and how you're triggering cameras.

You have to set the movie camera to allow for the controller to be used.

If you haven't done this, it will indeed work in preview and create mode, but not in play mode.

(it's a common no-brainer. I do it all the time myself..)

Ha! Now that I think about it, this may very well be the issue. Unfortunately Im at work right now (yes, I love lbp so much that I think about it at work) so I will have to check it once I get home. Thanks for the help!
