Overview Hey all, I am starting work on a new level which will be completely randomized (except for the beginning). I would like to have some help, if only feedback, from the community. The story goes as follows: you have the same dream every night, you are on the same ship, with the same crew every time, but the island you land on is different each night. You land on the island and proceed to explore... Ideas The idea for this level came out of thinking about video games as an artistic medium and what its potential is. I realized that one thing that a video game could do and other mediums can't is to change on every viewing. Most video games are really interactive movies, with the same events and outcomes on each play through, changing the question from if something will happen to when it will happen. Current Status Right now I have part of the level drawn up and am working on the logic. The island is built out of pieces that follow a few simple guidelines and are arranged randomly. I am beginning to understand that this is a huge undertaking and I welcome contributions from the community. If you are interested I will post the guidelines in their current state. Requests for Volunteers Volunteers would be greatly appreciated, and are needed in these areas: Art Designer The Art Designer would help create the physical elements of the level: the boat, and the pieces that make up most of the level. Outside or LBP artistic experience required. Logic Designer The Logic Designer would help design the logic that makes the level tic. Programming or LBP logic experience required. Tester The tester would help test out the level once playable, hopefully any art or logic designers will double as testers, but more are needed. Note that volunteers can work separately from me, especially art designers. All contributors will be credited, if you contribute anything from a single piece of the level to a logic system, or even an especially helpful piece of feedback.
