Help needed transferring LBP2 profile to a different PSN account

Archive: 3 posts

Hi all

My friend very kindly leant me his PS3 while he was travelling, and my son has been playing LBP1 and now LBP2 on it. Stupidly I let him play with the default account on the PS3 which was my friend's account. I didn't think it would be a big deal but we've both fallen in love with the games, and now we have a problem, my friend is back and wants his PS3 back!

I'm going to buy my own PS3, but is it possible to move the LBP2 profile to a new PSN account?

First I'm trying to back up the profile onto USB storage. I see the LBP2 profile under "Game Data Utility" but it doesn't have a copy option, only delete (shudder). Under "Saved Data Utility", which does have copy options, I see what looks like LBP1 data dated a few months ago.

What is the best thing to do?

So you're trying to transfer the lbp data from your friends PSN ID to your newly created PSN id? I'm not sure that it's possible. Someone on here might have an idea. If you've created levels you could always get your friend to publish the levels locked and copyable and and send you the keys to them at least you'll be able to get those back. But you might have to replay the story levels again to get your materials and stuff back.2011-03-26 19:55:00

When you're in LBP2, you want: Start->Settings->Profile Settings->Backup Profile.

This will transfer the profile in Game Data to a file in Save Data, which you can then copy onto a USB stick, and transfer onto a different PS3, and use the Import Profile option to load it.

You will, however, lose the ability to collect pins/trophies once you transfer onto a new PS3.
