Essence of Madness

Archive: 15 posts

The sequel to Corridors of Madness - this is a massive adventure that makes you use your noodle!

Note - the file sizes are LARGE. Altogether this level is 5 mb. Please be patient during download times.

Also if you feel I owe you feedback, please let me know, I'm not mean but sometimes I just forget and don't have much computer time available.

Oh baby! It's done! I saw your comment on your profile that it would be finished soon, and now, it is! Corridors of Madness was the first level to really make my jaw drop, so I can't wait to play this!2011-03-26 21:58:00

Great point and click adventuring and best use of 1st person visuals I've seen so far. This level's gonna blow up fast. I only came to post this cause my PS3 locked up hahaha... Yeah, I thought this was never going to load but it was totally worth it!2011-03-27 08:38:00

Hey, i remember that level. I didn't have enough time to finish it (the first one; Corridors of madness) but certainly should go back and check it. Im still not sure how you created such a point and click adventure, im having difficulities trying to make "one shot" buttons in LBP2 (seriously, where did those switch options go?!).

I'll queue it up! And play it right after i finish the first one!

Played this just a few hours ago, and it's just as awesome as the original that got MM Picked. I liked the puzzles with the symbols at different parts, and having to find different items to progress. I particularly liked the guard dog part. Great level. 2011-03-27 15:44:00

Thanks. Are people having trouble getting into the game? Can I get some estimates on load times?2011-03-29 13:30:00

Uuuumm... Let's see... It could have been because I play Wireless, but it took a while for it to load for me. 5+ minutes I believe.

Another great first person adventure level from Foofles.

VISUALS:
The old-school first person movement just got better. The cinematic sequences looked very impressive, and the menus are highly accurate. The Alien designs are even better than the ones from "Corridors of Madness".

SOUND:
Excellent custom musics and hilarious voice acting and dialogue.

GAMEPLAY:
The controls are impressive, and the extras are unique, especially the rescue the cake minigame. The problems I found in this level is that some areas, for some reason, cannot be accessed no matter how many times I go up.

OVERALL:
It's as fun as your other Madness level. Great concepts and exciting features. A yeah vote and a heart.

Thanks for playing. I hope everyone is ok that I return feedback ingame, I don't get much net access on a computer so it's just much easier for me.

I'm really interested in hearing what difficulty people have getting into the second sublevel, and if you do have difficulty, can you tell me your location?

REpublished with some fixes, hopefully it should be a lot less likely to snag in the hallways.2011-04-03 15:22:00

Wow i am apsolutly amazed not many people have reviewed this level yet as it is worth giving feedback on.

I know this was last reviewed in april but its such a well made level i just have to give my feedback on it.

Firstly i was really glad to see there were no glitches with the walls in the first person part of the level like in Corridors of Madness. The whole look and detail of the hud was very well done and i especially liked the health display.
The intro to the level specially the part where the sackboys eyes bulg out, very nice touch.

The gameplay was pretty much seamless. I remember in corridors of madness there was a certain point where i pressed to go forward but ended up at the other end of the corridor behind me.
The point and click part of the level was great and done really well also but i thought the voiceovers were slightly agro and it felt like i was an idiot for trying out certain things just to be told off for it. Well it wasn't really that bad and at certain parts very entertaining.

I did also like the whole close combat part of it but i think the arm should be a little lower as at the moment you can see the bottem of it and it dosen't really feel right.

The custom music was like always very well made and suited the game really well. And the title screen was pretty much perfect i had no problems with that at all.

One thing that puzzled me though was the cake. Whats with the cake. Everything i play seems to be about cake latley even portal which i played a few days ago for the first time. Do you know how hungry you make people talking about cake.

Overall a great game with good cutscenes and great mixture of gameplay. I recommend this to anyone looking for a differen't and fun experience in LBP. But remember to stock up on cake before you play as the level is lenghthy and you will get hungry.
