How do you make sounds louder than the max?

Archive: 8 posts

I'm making a horror level with lots of sounds in it. The only thing is that the sounds are too quiet. Is there a way (or a trick) to make sounds louder than the max? I've tried attatching multiple sound objects, batteries, and other logic (in general). Help please!

EDIT: Of course, I don't want it to be too loud or anything.

Try switching the positional sound setting in the sound object to off.

That means that the volume will be the same even though the player is far away from the sound object.

I don't know if connecting a super-normal signal to a sound will work, you could try it.

The other trick is to use the global sound settings to reduce the music volume etc. and just leave the sounds you want "loud" at their normal volume. Then, at least, the sounds will be correct in volume ratio, and you just put a notice to get people to turn their TV up to make the volume levels correct.

Try connecting another Duplicate sound object, but connect it so that it plays the exact same time. This may or may not make any difference, give that a try.2011-03-27 00:18:00

Still no difference. Not loud enough to scare anybody. Any more thoughts?2011-03-27 02:55:00

Discosmurf and thor sound right. A combination of the two ideas might work best, having all the other sounds set softer and positionally. Then BANG your sound at its most powerful potential.2011-03-27 03:27:00

Did you try PerfectlyDarkTails' suggestion? Layering two of the same sound had made them louder when I've tried it.2011-03-27 08:30:00
