Extension based on analogue signal
Archive: 3 posts
Hey guys. I'm trying to find a way to simulate a piston, but allow it to go to a specific length based on the magnitude of signal sent to it. An example to illustrate my bad explanation: Here we have a piston at full extension (length 11): |-----------| Here's the same piston at full retraction, length 1: |-| Now what I'd like is to give it a signal of, say, magnitude 50% and get this - length 6 (Minimum length plus half of extension distance): |------| Is there a way to do this? Sadly, Mm did not add 'length scale' as an input type on pistons, or I wouldn't be here asking. The purpose is that I'm trying to do a zoomable camera that has a cursor barrier that will expand or contract to fit the camera zoom level. The camera needs to move around, so I need something that will at the same time fix the frame to the camera block, and allow it to move towards or away from it. I planned on doing this with sets of two bars of hologram connected with pistons to each other and the camera box, but alas, foiled by the lack of length scale input. So, any suggestions? | 2011-03-24 23:02:00 Author: Unknown User |

I think that might do it. I'll have to experiment, but it just might. Especially if I can set it up so it will follow the camera box very closely in one axis, and then use this distance system in the other. Experimentation must be done!
