Uncharted 2- Break and Enter

Archive: 23 posts

Finally I'm publishing this level, I've been putting off in doing this because I lost interest after a few incidents kept going on in the level that couldn't be fixed but I've seem to have fixed it somewhat. This is my Uncharted level I tried to make it exactly like Uncharted mission wise and built it a little bit of my own way instead of it in full detail but most areas you'll probably see will remind you of the real game. I'd also like to thank everyone who beta test my level before hand: L1gHtMaRe, Lemun, Xx_Mr_Orange_xX, NinjaMicWz, Zerotiger99, PrincessK12, Psytens, JustinArt, gebherEl.. Also would like to thank my partner L1gHtMaRe for helping me with the logic...Well hope you all enjoy the level and please leave feedback I'd appreciate it the level may have a few bugs but hopefully I fixed all of that. Also sorry I didn't just put the pictures out, they were way to BIG so I just put them in attachments.

Sabre

First of all, as a true fan of the Uncharted Series, I can say that I really appreciate the attention to detail in capturing the look and feel of the original game. The visuals were spot on and the game-play was enjoyable.

That said, the level isn't without flaws. In the very beginning, the cut scene "in like Flynn" triggered more than once for me, actually four times to be exact. Also the jump pad in that area was hard to find under that pipe, but eventually I'm sure people would find it.

Also, in the area where you get the tranquilizer gun, you had to jump over the gun while carrying the box needed to proceed over with the grabinators. I'm not sure if it was intended, but the level link at the end was locked...from the pics I had assumed the entire level was complete, but I could be wrong!

Hope this helps!

Queued up and ready to go!

If you get the chance, could you check out my own level? It's also an adventure themed level. Information can be found in the Signature. Thanks!

I'll update this post once I play your level.

Glad I helped you beta tested this level, Sabre_. It was a fun and solid platformer.

VISUALS:
It has a cool lighting, good material choices, and neat layer glitch.

SOUND:
Nice music choice, even if it's from LBP1.

GAMEPLAY:
The platforming of this level is fun. Good use of the grabinator, grappling hook, sackbot reactions, and an old school paintinator. I think what could be fixed as what Shawneboi mentioned about the replayed cutscenes is to add the counter tool to the scenes to prevent replays.

OVERALL:
An solid platforming fun that's not just for "Uncharted" fans, but for anyone who wants a puzzle solving platformer level. If I play the final version of this level, I'll give it a yeah vote and a positive review.

Im sorry for everybody who cant get into the sub-link, half my friends cant but other ppl can its flip flop pretty much so I don't really know how to fix it.

@JustinArt
-i'll double check the replay thing sorry about that ill fix and return feed asap.

@Shawn
-As I said above I might change it soon "Maybe" to a scoreboard then link you over like that because sub-link isnt working for some people .

EDIT:
-The repeating on 1st speech was already fixed when I went back to play it the sequencer activated once, so hopefully it fixed for good. Also if people cant find what to do the star is in some areas to give hints.

Queued, will let you know how it goes (either here or in my review).

Ironically, I just got done with an Uncharted-esque level as well. Check it out when you get the chance.

Pretty fun, a bit tedious though. It's amazing overall except the cutscenes have big gaps between the magic mouth sequences. And it's a bit long, couldn't finish it

Do you know where exactly you felt the speeches were a bit to long? I think the one after flynn takes out the first guard and it starts to explain how to take out the enemy, I think that one may need to be faster but the rest I dont know unless you let me know where exactly are there gaps... but thanks for the feedback

EDIT:
- I went back and made the sequencers a little bit faster but not to fast, just fast enough so you wont be sitting there waiting on the next scene unless your not a fast reader.

Thanks, I guess I may be a fast reader, but overall I found it to be a good solid level so props to that. I like the fact that it requires problem solving skills, thats not usually present in gaming today 2011-03-24 21:50:00

Not bad level at all. There were some parts that seemed a little more confusing than they needed to be but other than that it was very well done. I really like the way the dude laid down when we was being knocked out in the cut-scene. Good job and thanks for the feedback on my level.2011-03-24 23:16:00

@Flamento
-Yeah I tried to adjust the pace on the reading towards everyone but hopefully theres some change in what I did with some of the sequencers.

@Tru3_SkitZ0
-Thanks for the feedback man I appreciate it, what parts seemed little confusing to you if you can remember?

Hey Sabre_, I've played your level yesterday.

It's a good but not perfect level. You've managed to catch the spirit of the first level of Uncharted 2, and delivered a descent plaformer, even if some parts where frustrating. For example, the sequence where you have to grab a jump pad in order to proceed in the sewers is difficult because of camera angles. I didn't know where I can jump down/up.

The light and material choices are ok, the sceneries are good, music fits to the action. Cutscenes somtimes stop the action and are quite long, so the rythm of the level is not as smooth as it can be, but they are ok.

Ovgerall good level, not perfect but it's fun to play !

Returning some F4F.
I really liked this level. Some parts were a bit confusing, but not annoying in any way. The only thing I can really say that I was not a big fan of was the "dialogue". It was a bit long, even though I realize that you wanted to use the dialogue from the original game. But perhaps it would be possible to shorten it?

Anyway, good job. Heart and "YAY"

@Caveman
-Yeah im sorry the dialogue slows up the smoothness of the level, I was trying to bring out its original feel as if you were playing the actual game but if i make anymore ill keep that in mind to shorten it. Thanks for the feedback .

@Slurm
-Yeah I agree with you with the level not being perfect because as I said above this level had so many fixes I had to do & yet it still has a bug on part 2 with the gates that only happen to little bit of people but not everyone but still glad you "yay" & "hearted' it. Thanks again for the feedback.

I never played uncharted but this level was pretty good.

Nice design and good atmo throughout the whole level.
Sometimes it was a bit unclear what i had to do next (especially in the sewer) but after a while i found it out.

Gave it a Yay, maybe is should play uncharted to have a better view on your level...

I left you a review in the reviews section (my PSN ID is shimsok), but I'll just restate myself here: the level was very true to Uncharted. The character lines were accurate, and so was the stealth sequence. Heck, the place even resembled the Uncharted 2 mission very much! The only thing that made it boring at some points was the camera transitions: you only ever used "Cut". Try experimenting with pans a bit, as those would have worked wonders here.2011-03-27 20:55:00

@Shimsok
-Yeah i know how to use the transitions, I thought I did with this level but guess not sorry about that. I guess me putting this level off for awhile made me forget about all of that. Well thanks for the feedback.
