Kingdom Hearts Level Series

warning: some of this might be a little tldr

Hello all, like many of you here I fell in love with littlebigplanet at first sight. And I'm sure that like me you've had level ideas swimming around in your head since 07.I've grown to love many games over the years, SotC, Zelda, Ico, Xenosaga, etc. But one of my absolute favorites has been Kingdom Hearts, mainly due to my incurable love for Disney.

Naturally I wanted to make a level that took you on a trip through the first kingdom hearts game. As I began to make my level I ran into a problem. It was too small. There was no way I was going to be able to create a fun recreation working with this "limited" space. So I decided to make each level in KH it's own level in LBP.

It's been a very fun experience and my skills have grown with each undertaking. In my first level ,for example, I didn't use any custom enemies yet I created much of my own objects. In my second level I featured my first custom "boss". And by the time I reached my third I did not use a single pre-made creature. I hope to go back and spruce up my older creations at some point with the lessons I've learned now.

So what do I have so far?

Kingdom Hearts: Part one; Takes place on Destiny Islands. I tried to set a slower pace for this level allowing it to serve as a introdcution. But I didn't want players to simply waltz through this level. I have been told by many people that the jumps were too hard so I ended up toning them down a bit. The "weaker" of my levels. But I was just started out at the time so I'll probably go over it more thoroughly at some point.

Kingdom Hearts: Part Two; Takes place in Traverse Town. The focus of this level was exploration. I recall Traverse Town as being a world filled with many nooks and crannies so tried to fill this level with many hidden paths and walkways. Also, features my first custom creature. I spent a lot of time on this one.

Kingdom Hearts: Part Three; Takes place in Wonderland. The focus of this level was obstacles. I wanted to make things a bit more deadly in this level. Many things are on fire, electrified and gassed in this level. This was a very fun level to work on and I filled the themometor on this one! It also features the Trickmaster who has proved to be a serious challenge for anyone who takes him on. Overall a very difficult level to make but well worth it.

In doing this I'm striving not only to create fun levels for the community to play but to offer a variety of challenges. Since each level of kingdom hearts offers a vastly different environment I felt this should be portrayed not only in the scenery but in the gameplay. Wonderland features a focus on platforming and obstacles. Olypmus Coliseum (based on the film Hercules) will feature nothing but enemies and will play out as a "survival" level.

This thread will serve not only as a way to provide updates but also to take suggestions, share my ideas, concept art, accept feedback, etc. Well, I hope you enjoy my levels. I'll continue to provide information about what I'm working on and I hope to hear from you guys.

Well, I'm off for now. I need to go play that african safari level, it looks great!

I'm a pretty hardcore KH fan too, I got everything done in the first two. As a suggestion, you should add Darkside to the first one sometime.2008-11-29 02:20:00
