Glassy Cardboard? O.o
Archive: 4 posts
Hey! So I was playing around in my moon trying to accomplish certain things, mostly tests here and there like pretty much all of my "inventions" so far, still, and, my latest project consist in a Super-Hero sackbot of sorts that spits some form of Ice Breath thing through his hands. Now, what I wanted him to do is when that Ice Breath touches an object, the object freezes, turning into glass for about 5 seconds, and then goes back to normal. Everything goes smoothly, up until the part where the Ice block is supposed to go back to it's normal material... What I made is the sackbot to shoot invisible tiny pieces of holo with a blue tag on them, and the normal cardboard cube has a blue tag sensor. When the sensor activates, basically what it does, is to emit an invisible cube of holo, and that cube of holo will emit the Iced cube (the reason I emit the hologram cube is so I don't have to worry about perfect timing, and 2 objects occupying the same space). Then, when the Iced cube's timer reaches 5 seconds, it emits another invisible hologram cube, and that second holo cube emits the normal cardboard cube back, all of these cubes being rezzed at the exact same spot the original cube was. The problem is, when it comes to the last phase and emit the normal cardboard cube, the cardboard cube is suddenly something like 80% transparent O.o, and although you can see it's still cardboard, it has glass properties also. Is this a bug? Accidentally found a way to create one of those glitched materials? D: If so, is there a work around so I can emit the actual normal cube again in the same spot? I can post the exact logic if anyone needs it, though it's fairly simple really. Thanks so much in advance! | 2011-03-23 05:58:00 Author: MonarioBabii ![]() Posts: 128 |
You don't mention how you are destroying the original cube. Could it be that you have emitted 2 objects superimposed on top of each other? I would take the transparent cardboard and make sure it is that. I can't see any reason why it would take on the properties of glass when it's just an object being emitted. Also are you using the "capture object" feature from the emitter? If so, is your object changing dynamically (e.g. have you told it to emit the cube you have at the start, which will obviously change since it is emitting new things?) Because this can cause problems in create mode (but not play mode). | 2011-03-23 11:53:00 Author: thor ![]() Posts: 388 |
Destroyer, and well, yes, the 2 objects atop each other might as well be the reason why this is happening ![]() As for the dynamic changes, no not really. I have the emitters set to emit the cubes which I previously selected from my goodies bag, not capture them from in-world. Note: The destroyer on the cardboard cube is set to fade. The invisible 'spawner' cubes (2) are set to disappear. The iced cube is set to dissolve. | 2011-03-23 12:29:00 Author: MonarioBabii ![]() Posts: 128 |
Try setting the destroyer on the iced cube to disappear or fade and see if that works. It might takeaway for the effect a bit. but if you can get it to work right then you can try and get the visuals and transitions looking good. | 2011-03-23 21:51:00 Author: Chicago51 ![]() Posts: 258 |
