Sony Employees save PS3D Tech with a raft made of PS2s
Archive: 19 posts
I haven't seen this around anywhere and I doubt that anyone will 100% believe this but here goes... I happen to know a man very high up in the Sony ladder (doesn't everyone?) and I heard about what the PS4/PS3D development team in Japan went to to save the vulnerable electronics from the rising water. They literally made a raft out of the things available to them, in this case PS2s and controllers, to float the technology to safety. I imagine that it wasn't simply a bunch of ps2's wrapped together with the controller-wires but the absolutely anything they could find, which happened to include said ps2s and controllers. In any case, it's hilarious and I love them for it. Whether or not it's true... you can never be sure, but I'd bet a few bob that it is. | 2011-03-22 22:29:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |
Hmmm... I doubt it is authentic, first of all, a normal PS2 sinks to the bottom pretty easily I believe, though I guess if the insides are removed it should give some kind of lift it could work. But that is just if. I also bet they would have multiple developed in different places so if one becomes damaged they can continue on it somewhere else. I am pretty sure there would have been more effective ways that a boat made out of PS2s, controllers and other stuff. | 2011-03-22 22:49:00 Author: moonwire Posts: 1627 |
You're asking the exact same questions that I did In any case, even if it isn't true it's a nice image. | 2011-03-22 22:52:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |
They should have used the X-Boxes~ | 2011-03-22 22:54:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Yea also...if they WENT to save the electronics...then they obviously had means of transportation which could have been used as transportation for the electronics They should have used the X-Boxes~ Sure! Using them as raft material would cause less wear and tear than using it as a console Probably double it's life expectancy! | 2011-03-22 23:34:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
Even with nothing in them all the stuff is far from watertight that'll drag em down. The weight of the things they would be trying to float would drag it down. Also it's a huge wave not slowly rising flood. You've been told a massive load of crap. | 2011-03-22 23:41:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

Why didn't they just built a raft to save people? I'm all for games here, but when something horrible like the tsunami happens, the least of everybody's problems should be saving technology for a future console. | 2011-03-23 00:04:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
I guess the PS4 is being developed in a bungalow if they didn't just move to a higher floor. | 2011-03-23 00:16:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |

Also, why didn't the big bad wolf just leave the pigs alone, oh yea...because this didn't actually happen. :/ Even if they did attempt to rescue a batch of technology, why is that so wrong?? I know saving lives should be priority, but the welfare of the company would be also be on their minds. Devoting a small team to retrieve some important prototypes wouldn't bring any harm to anybody and would only work to the advantage of the company. | 2011-03-23 02:19:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |

Well, the only way we can prove this is sending this to Mythbusters. Because a.) you know they'll do it, and b.) this would be AWESOME if it were real... but most likely, it isn't. It would've easily made worldwide headlines, and the PS3's sales would be up. | 2011-03-23 04:33:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
Shame, that sounded awesome. Maybe we should have a go? | 2011-03-25 09:18:00 Author: kirbyman62 Posts: 1893 |
One thing is sure: If I submerge my PS2 it will still work. That thing was made to survive a nuclear winter! | 2011-03-25 18:18:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |

However, a fully-built PS2 would sink due to weight, while an empty PS2 would quickly fill with water and sink anyway. I'm just waiting for them to stop making them so I can download them on my PS3 like I can a lot of PS1 games (at least, I assume that's the reason why I haven't been able to find PS2 downloadable games on the PSN). | 2011-03-26 05:42:00 Author: Patronus21 Posts: 266 |
lol, you really outta stop trying to make people think you "know people" specially with these kinda stories, just making it worse. I mean really if you really knew somebody you wouldn't keep pushing and pushing and insisiting and trying to convince everyone you do on every single post you make. | 2011-03-26 06:15:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |

I've made two posts mentioning it, it's the sort of thing that might come up on a PS3 oriented forum. Also, I think if I created a source for myself it would be a lot less prone to bullsh*t than the one I have | 2011-03-26 08:17:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |

See Classics HD. God of War 1 &2 and the PS2 Prince of Persia games have been released on the store and The PS2 Splinter Cell games, Beyond Good & Evil, Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica are due on the PS store this year. Plus there's a few on Blu ray that may get a psn release. | 2011-03-26 11:33:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
