Controlinator 'Nearest Player' Woes

I have heard of bugs with controlinators set to 'nearest player' and indeed I cannot get it to reliably work in multiplayer mode: other players than the one nearest to the DCS get to control it... I find it hard to find any up to date info on this, or how to work around it. A pity, because it has so much potential!

Anyone know of a solution or has more insights into this?

Controlinator settings, where you select which type of DCS it is. Is is there with the options of Normal, Transmitter and Receiver. When set to 'Nearest Player', it will be controlled by the sackboy closest to it without the requirement to mount the DCS. It would allow for all these nice extra controls that you can add to ordinary actions; like having to grab an object and then giving it a fair shake (repeat X)...

I've noticed this too. Rather than locking onto the nearest player, it looks onto the first player it detects and then doesn't unlock unless that player dies or logs out, or goes into hover mode (in create). In the early beta I tried it and it worked fine so this is a bug that's popped up since then. I suspect it's been reported by now, but just the same, you might want to head over to the bug reporting place and bring it up.2011-03-22 19:32:00

I had to use this for a tutorial option. The way I got around the annoying little button info that would never go away just like the annoying substitles don't. I emit the controllinator prior to needing it, then have a playersensor that only unejects the remote player controllinator when they are in the area I want.2011-03-22 20:06:00
