LBP2 Screen Resolution

Archive: 8 posts

Hello there! My copy of the game arrived in the mail recently and I started setting it up on my system. I noticed that when I was asked to adjust the size of the picture to match my TV, the edges of the game did not match up perfectly with that of my TV. I'm pretty sure my TV has a 16:9 aspect ratio and it's gotten me wondering: Is LittleBigPlanet 2 in a 16:9 aspect ratio?2011-03-22 04:23:00

Sorry, forgot to mention that I am indeed playing in 720p HD and I'm pretty sure this doesn't happen in the other games I play either.

You're saying that there are unequal black borders around the screen on your 16:9 TV when you play LBP2?2011-03-22 15:26:00

Many HDTV are overscanning by default. This is standard that exists because of TV channels that don't display exactly in 16:9, leaving crap around the screen.
Now there's alot of TV that also have a "just scan" mode or "full mode" where the screen is is displayed exactly 1:1 with the pixels in the TV panel.

Right now, what happens it that LBP is underscaled by default for to counter the overscan of HDTVs (wich is a stupid choice imo but whatever). This way, regular people with badly set TVs don't lose image all around the screen. What happens is probably that your TV is displaying the exact correct ratio therefore there are black border all around if you leave LBP2 as it is.

When you first boot the game, it ask you to adjust the screen. This is where you put LBP full screen. If this screen doesn't appear anymore, go into the profile options and it should be somewhere there. Probably in some "display" section.

Yes, that's right.

Quick question then: What would you guys rather have?

The whole image fit into your screen, but with a few black borders around, or have all the black borders eliminated, but lose a bit of your image? Right now, I have the latter on.

If you create level i recommended you to have full 16:9 visible, so you will be 100% sure that you see everything that HDTV users see.2011-03-23 04:35:00
