What Web Browser are you using? What's your operating system? Have you updated your Adobe Flash player recently? And What Virus Software are you using?

I'm suggesting you update your Flash player ASAP if you haven't.

Umm. You can't get a virus from browsing a website, unless there's bug in the browser, or one of its plugins, which is why it's important to ensure your browser and its plugins are kept up-to-date with their latest security patches.

You could also get a virus if you choose to download and execute untrusted code, or if you've configured your browser to run untrusted code automatically, although this is a less common attack vector.

Which "virus protector" are you using, and which virus does it claim it's found?

A quick Google seems to indicate this script (used for legitimate advertising) was compromised three years ago to exploit a browser vulnerability, but is no longer problematic, so it sounds like a false-positive match.

Update your JAVA, Flash, and download IE9 or Google Chrome. It's possible the ad server has been exploited again. If you just did a system resotre (and assuming that got rid of your virus), you need to update Windows, too.2011-03-21 22:06:00

No. The compromised script is on another machine.

If your machine has been compromised, it'll come up in a regular virus scan.

There was a fairly recent Java Applet-based exploit doing the rounds, and that particular version is probably vulnerable to the exploit.

Try completely uninstalling it via the Control Panel. You may not be able to uninstall or upgrade Java while your web browser is running.

Man, this bites, but first you have to Uninstall your JAVA (http://www.java.com/en/download/uninstall.jsp) and then Download and Install (http://www.java.com/en/download/help/windows_manual_download.xml) the new version of JAVA.2011-03-21 22:27:00

Like I said before, it might just be a false-positive, i.e. your virus scanner thinks it's a virus, but it's actually not. When was the last time you updated the virus scanner itself?

According to the Avast Forums (http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=74340.msg616160#msg616160), it's [probably] a false positive from the virus software.2011-03-21 22:49:00

I'm not really familiar with this particular scanner, but most have an option to tell you when it last updated its virus definition files.

Well - a suspected false-positive, and it seems to be occurring with other sites too.

I had a particularly awesome false-positive recently where AVG detected an alleged virus in Adobe Acrobat Reader - they soon pushed through an amendment to the definition files to correct it, but I've since switched to a different virus scanner.

If Avast is particularly irritating and overly paranoid, you might want to consider switching to an alternative scanner.

I've had the same thing since yesterday. It can and has popped up for any/all websites I've gone to since it's an information collector for a legitimate advertising agency online. I tried searching my HDD for it but it doesn't come up since the .js file is temporary it seems.

/annoyed

I also found this forum searching for the reported object by Avast.

I've had it happen a few times as well. it's not actually a virus. My best guess is that someone is injecting it through the ads on this site.

what happened to me is there is a popup window that comes up that looks like an AVG "virus found" window, then it redirects you to a site that performs a dummy scan. the scan is just an animation made to look like it is doing something, when in reality it is just trying to install a file on your computer, or trick you into downloading it.

I have had this happen at east twice on the latest version o firefox, so I can verify that this is happening. The second time it happened it actually minimized my main browser window and hid it behind the popup. I PMd someone not too long ago about it. I don't recall who.

Same thing here, googled it and found this forum, my Avast keeps popping up warnings and they are driving me nuts, it's on 3 out of 4 sites I am visiting now.
It started about 4 hours ago.
