Piston that streches a set amount?
Archive: 6 posts
Hi, I have a piston and a button that controls it. I want that every time I press the button, the piston streches a set amount. I tried this with a counter, and different piston options, but it didn't work... Please help! http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/7562/piston.png (http://img694.imageshack.us/i/piston.png/) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us) | 2011-03-21 10:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
You could have the button connected to a timer which is then connected to your piston.the piston will turn on for a set amount of time, then stop moving. You may need to fiddle around with one shot counters or resetting of the timer and the like, but that basic concept should work. EDIT: another idea I just had is to use a follower on the block which the piston is connected to, and have the pistons strength set to 0, have the button attached to a selector which would choose between different points/heights to follow. You don't even need the piston for this solution, unless you want it for asthetics, but I'm sure you could make something else which looks better | 2011-03-21 10:28:00 Author: Unknown User |

Just set up uniquely labelled/coloured tags at each stop and wire your button to the "cycle" input at the base of a selector, which should input into a series of tag followers that correspond to the unique tag labels. This way, you don't even need to keep a straight line of movement if you don't want to. You could potentially have your object move in a square or triangle formation for example. | 2011-03-21 10:47:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Actually, I need the piston to be visible. The object attached to it is an antenna. And I need the piston to look like the base of the antena that I want to elevate. Thanks a lot for the ideeas! I will test them tonignt. | 2011-03-21 12:04:00 Author: Unknown User |

I will test them tonignt. You can still connect a piston, just set its strength to 0%, but make sure its minimum and maximum lengths are enough to allow the object to move. The other way is to use the LBP1 method of invisible winches https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=16124-Variable-Length-Pistons-%28Stops-at-different-locations%29 | 2011-03-21 13:40:00 Author: thor Posts: 388 |
