Level Badge Help!

Archive: 7 posts

Whenever I make level badges and set them as the icon, it's not really the quality I'm worried about, it's the fact that I always get a horrible texture on it and it looks like junk compared to others, who have cool, crisp badges.

Does that happen to everyone? Is that just what it looks like on your create moon, and it's fine when published?

I don't know.... Please help!

Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, the quality being shown that you see should be no different from what we see. I'd suggest going to your lbp.me profile and checking your level icons from there, as that will give you the best rendering of what it actually looks like.2011-03-20 18:26:00

It helps if you choose a plain, clear surface where to put the stickers that will form your emblem, and if you use sharply contrasting colours. Use for example light coloured stickers on a black background sticker.2011-03-21 02:26:00

When you first set your icon or whenever you modify the level the badge image shown on your moon's crater will be really washed out for that session. I find it irritating and stupid but it's clearly deliberate. If you quit and restart the badge will display normally. If you go to the level's info you can see what it ought to look like. Maybe this is your issue?2011-03-21 04:30:00

First of all, the best badge maker I know of is Lockstitch. I've seen how he makes his so clear.. Here's how to do it.

You pick a materail you want to work on, I'd use blue wood since it's the smoothest and leaves no texture to the badge. When making a badge for your level, you want to use stickers only. Place a background colour on a 2d layer, then as you build up your logo, you place each sticker on a seperate 2d layer, positioning them in front or behind each layer. Also giving each sticker a black outline helps improve the quality of the final outcome. Just mess around with it, experiment etc. You'll get it soon enough, but remember to stick to using stickers only. Hope this helped.
