Was editing some logic when a player set off a destroyer, which destroyed the thing I was editing. Game promptly froze. EDIT: AND the PS3 crashed. Got a warning that system shut down improperly (I had to restart system using front button).

That's interesting, did you try to replicate the results? If not then we can't pin all the blame on destroying logic while simultaneously editing it.

Yea back-up your profile just in case and try to reproduce the crash, if it happens again then got to getsatisfaction.com/littlebigplanet and report the bug, remember to say how to reproduce the crash step by step

Alright, an update. I tried reproducing it, but all that would happen is the game would hiccup for a frame, but nothing would crash. This was without another PSN player though, so maybe that was the cause.
