How to most efficiently compare analog signal strengths?
Archive: 3 posts
I want a chip that compares two analog signals, A and B, and outputs digital on if A > B. My old method basically came down to a signal combiner, with (A OR B) on the positive input and just B on the negative. Since (A OR B) returns the larger of the two analog signals, the combiner output would either be the difference of A and B if A > B, or 0% if B >= A. To get that to a digital signal I feed it into a positional sequencer with a standard battery running the full length. That battery output yields on when A > B, and off otherwise. Works fine, except now I need as many copies of this circuit as I can squeeze under the thermo cap, and I'm yearning for something that would use less thermo. Any suggestions? Thanks. | 2011-03-19 20:23:00 Author: LittleBigDave Posts: 324 |

That is currently most cost efficient way of comparing analogue signals. If you want faster way (sequencer gives frame of latency) you could use DCS inside of sackbots microchip and connect signals to either input of R2 or L2. This is faster but requires sackbot to work (not actually: you can move them to other microchips but it will lose its ability when saved) and is less cost effective. You could of course try to optimize amount of comparing but that wont work in all situations (like when emitting bunch of copies) | 2011-03-19 20:44:00 Author: waD_Delma Posts: 282 |
