Mirror's Edge 2D Beta!

Archive: 32 posts

Hey guys found this up on Kotaku, played it, actually managed to collect all the items (not an easy task) and loved it! It's actually endorsed by EA and trust me even if you don't like Mirror's Edge 3D this 2D platformer IS fun

Play it here! (http://www.bornegames.com/?page_id=369)

Hey, Brad Borne!

If you haven't played the Fancy Pants Adventure worlds, do so. Quickly. Like, now. He does incredibly tight platforming, with an unbelievable degree of sophistication and detail in everything. It's not particularly challenging to beat the levels, or to master them, but it's a blast going through them.

Sorry, little tangent, there. But it's great to finally see what he's been working on. And Mirror's Edge certainly fits right in with his style.

The level was very, very neat. Because there were so many ways of getting to the same thing, but still focused directionally. And running around and collecting the little icons is always fun. There was only one I couldn't get: After the first swing, the level below it, and over one alley. There was one above the small jump up, and I just could not jump there. Maybe I'm missing something.

Anyway, very tight, as usual. Some carried-over elements from Fancy Pants, but that's to be expected. Outstanding animation, of course. Although there were some rough spots. Specifically, coming off a swing, the spin was very overdone, and the vault on top of something hanging onto was unrealistic. Also, the distance you can scramble up the sides of buildings seemed...questionable. But very fun, overall, and definitely looking forward to the full release.

Yea I get the feeling there is still some fine-tuning to do on the controls before the full release...

Cool I've played that, didn't realise they were the same guys. Very fun game as well!

Yea tell me about it. It's very rewarding though, like a good retro lookin' 2D platformer should be Just figuring out how to use the controls to get to some parts is very gratifying.

Which one is it? Some of them are really hard until you figure out how to get them, and one of them is still hard even after you figure it out

How annoying, I was missing one token and one bag and I searched high and low, up and down, east and west, every nook and cranny and I could not find either.2008-11-30 20:32:00

Hahaha.

I love you Oldage!

Yeah but the 2D version is still really fun. Mirror's Edge really deserves to sell more than it does. Only 100,000. That was before Christmas though.

For some reason, I'm really into speedrunning things like this. Even the last level of Klonoa, I spent a few hours at once trying to get the fastest time.

I've got 51.09 on this now.

Same here. I actually have no interest in the original Mirror's Edge after trying the beta. But the 2D version was exilirating. This will definitely be a purchase for me.
