BioShock LBP style
Archive: 18 posts
Hello Little Sackthings! I am currently working on a top-down zombie level. But soon, I will begin work on a bioshock level! What I don't know if it will be top down (I make tons of top down levels) or side scrolling. I did some beta testing for first person, but it took up too much thermo. Right now I'm testing some ideas, but the main level isn't complete. Any suggestions or ideas on what I can add? __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______ | 2011-03-19 17:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
Bioshock has been done quite a lot of times in LBP. Few of them have captured the original game's atmosphere, so I hope you will really succeed in this! I'd suggest side scrolling, because it'll be quite hard to make it seem like Bioshock with the limited view of top down games. You should think about the whole layout. Is the player a normal human? Maybe a sackbot Big Daddy? Are you re-doing a story from one of the games or come up with a new one (if you want a new one, I'd really love to help you out with the story!)? Will you enable plasmids? There's quite a lot to think about, since the game itself has lots of awesome features. Don't stress about doing all of them, however. Really looking forward to hearing more. Edit: And, oh! To really reach the feeling, you should use custom music. Bioshock's soundtrack is quite awesome. | 2011-03-20 12:53:00 Author: Edeslash Posts: 135 |
maybe play around with the 3D camera's and see if you can make a better bioshock level with that | 2011-03-23 11:33:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
I've never seen anything playable and enjoyable done with those 3D cameras. | 2011-03-23 19:25:00 Author: Edeslash Posts: 135 |
I've never seen anything playable and enjoyable done with those 3D cameras. exactly the reason why people should stop making demos with them and start making actual games :/ | 2011-03-23 20:41:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
I've already started on the top down version, I've added hypo needles, first aid kits, most pieces of scenery are searchable/destructible, 3 main plasmids (electrobolt, fire, and plasma(swarm)). But if anybody can make some of the songs from bioshock 1 (in my opinion music is better in the first), please send me a message on PSN: THE_KIWIMAN Expect it to come out late march early april. Thanks! | 2011-03-23 23:33:00 Author: Unknown User |
The whole issue I have with the '3D' cameras is that you need to spin the level around the player to 'turn'. Until they fix the cameras, I don't see these being functional devices. As for the level, I think if you use a 3rd person view rather than a completely top-view would look better. | 2011-03-24 00:41:00 Author: SSTAGG1 Posts: 1136 |

Honestly this is is a great idea but a few things have to be done to get it perfect. Sackbots + Water = No, and BioShock is heavy on H2O Costume, never seen anything close to a BioShock costume in LBP And it would be better in side scroller than top-down. But I like the concept and I'm there when you need testers | 2011-03-24 20:54:00 Author: Flamento Posts: 352 |

But I like the concept and I'm there when you need testers 1. your character in Bioshock never had to go swim....so using water material like waterfall....OR the BETTER AND MORE REALISTIC material FREAKY CLOUDS (sponge material) would be fine 2. Bioshock costume? you mean a BIG DADDY? they aren't so hard i can make one...just not a rosie 3. side scrolling is nice...just feels limited since you can't explore much since you can only go left and right...which is why i think using the 3D camera to use 3rd person would be nice...its like top-down but slightly more down 4. i also wish to test | 2011-03-24 21:11:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
Not just Big Daddy, a Little Sister would be great. And yeah, side scrolling has space issues, but some dramatic cutscenes to change your characters position in the level and you're set | 2011-03-24 21:38:00 Author: Flamento Posts: 352 |
I made a little sister costume in LBP1. Shouldn't be harder in LBP2. And you know, since it's top down, why would you need water, sackbots or costumes? As a massive Bioshock fan I'm really looking forward to this. What about the story? | 2011-03-24 22:14:00 Author: Edeslash Posts: 135 |
is this going to be a remake or an original bioshock? if original then here's two things that make a bioshock game: political corruption (as seen in Bioshock 1, 2, and in the new one coming out) a new civilization in an innovative style of living (Bioshock 1/2 were in the underwater city of rapture, the newer one is going to be in a skytown) so yeah just to help out tbh I feel you should make your own bioshock in a new civilization in space or something...because remakes are getting pretty annoying and boring since people know how its going to end...but thats just my opinion...seeing original content is always better the seeing the same thing but now in different graphics...jus sayin | 2011-03-25 05:37:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |

I think the elements of BioShock with a new story would get much more plays than a remake Keeping it in Rapture might be a nice thing though. The same feel of BioShock with a different story. Otherwise the only similar thing is the characters. | 2011-03-25 14:36:00 Author: Flamento Posts: 352 |
The story of Rapture is full of places, characters and events. Really, FULL of them. It doesn't have to be a remake even if it's based on Rapture. I've had so much ideas for a Bioshock fanfic, but never written anything. | 2011-03-25 15:26:00 Author: Edeslash Posts: 135 |
I'm thinking original story. The beginning has little story, mainly so you can get used to the controls. Right now Im changing the Big Daddy alot. I will add a cursor and plasmid animations, plus another plasmid, telekinesis. | 2011-03-25 22:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
Telekinesis is gonna be tough. The force in the Star Wars level is rough around the edges and a real pain to use. Hope you get the hang of it though. | 2011-03-26 05:26:00 Author: Flamento Posts: 352 |
Telekinesis is gonna be tough. ninjamcwiz did it...so it cant be that hard | 2011-03-26 07:38:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
