Get the PS3 to recognise my ipod as a usb headset and LBP2 records it
Unfortunately the PS3's voice compression ruins music, and LBP2 probably has more voice compression to destroy the quality further, but I'm definitely going to use this for sound effects Does anyone know any good free sound libraries online?

Freesounds.org is what I used for my animation. It had all I needed except one. 2011-03-18 23:31:00

This sounds interesting. I too would like to know how this is done.

If it recognises it as a headset, could you play music that all other players would then hear?

I figured how to do this with your computer.

I used USB adapter that comes with singstars and connected cable from it to computers audio output.

This didn't work well because only cable I could find was twisted from one end and that made it horrible.

Still now I know at least that I can do it.

As waD_Delma figured out, it is a hardware solution. I actually have a USB headset controller, but the singstar controller will work just fine. Then you just need a 2.5mm male-to-male stereo jack cable, and connect it to any audio source. Since 2.5mm stereo jacks simply transmit pure audio data, there is no way for the PS3 to tell where the sound is coming from, so it can't be patched up aside from Mm deciding that they will only allow the PSEye to record sound.

Opsss. deted my past message... i was checking ipod touch

EDIT:

Oh so you guys using analog USB adpter... pffff misleading OP i actually tried and guess what PS3 see iPod as audio input but i don't hear anything.... i will check something tommorow

[ so it can't be patched up aside from Mm deciding that they will only allow the PSEye to record sound.

MM is not the one who operates it, it PS3 firmware controlling audio inputs (go see accessory settings in PS3 settings) and as i said PS3 handles most driver less USB Audio compatible input and output devices, it's not just Sony devices. Same goes with Bluetooth compatibility, all Bluetooth audio profile devices should work. I also don't think Sony will block all devices just like that

Well I just tried something similar to this today. I haven't even seen this thread until now.

Comment on Shadow's post: When testing my hardware method in the device settings in the XMB, the quality was significantly better than the usual methods, but unfortunately, every game w/ voice chat has it's own audio recording settings even though they go through the PS3's as well. To make things worse for this purpose, (not sure if completely intentional or not), LBP2's recording settings are pretty horrible for this because its noise suppression is so strong. That's why testing in the XMB (while not in LBP2) wasn't too bad, but in LBP2 it sounds horrible.

Iit's because it's mainly done for voice communication so it has set up large compression, also large compression guaranty that level size won't be huge. Maybe PS3 can't switch audio settings during the game and it's defined in game manifest,.2011-03-23 04:14:00

This happened to me, good job I backed up my profile. But some stuff was lost. Such as the music tracks I had back in LBP1.2013-08-03 18:53:00

This thread is kinda dead since the last post was 2011. I see your new too but don't post in threads that discussion has already ran its course and nothing can really be added to it.

You have a nice day now
