Anyone know anything about formatting HDD's

Archive: 7 posts

I'm running Win XP and bought another HDD for it. It needs to be formatted to NTFS though. I went into Computer Management -> Disk Management and I can see the HDD there working properly but when I right click on the drive the option to format the drive (alongside the other options) is greyed out. So I'm not sure what to do, so far Google has been no help.2011-03-17 10:47:00

Yep, I formatted my old PS3's 60GB HDD fine a couple of weeks ago.

EDIT: Nevermind, I, by sheer luck, stumbled across some software from Seagate and it did the trick

SeaGate DiscWizard is awesome. It not only formats and activates the drive to become bootable, but it can also image an entire disk from your system disk, activate it, and make it ready to boot in a matter of hours.2011-03-17 18:59:00

Yeah, looks pretty nifty, should come very handy when I switch all my data to different drives.

Sure, just got to go through my history.

EDIT: Just go here (http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=discwizard-eula&vgnextoid=580a5e3ddbf60110VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD ) and accept the End User License Agreement then it will take you to the download.
