Controlling 2 controllinators at the same time.

Hey! I'm trying to make it so a sackbot with a custom costume is (preferably) permanently sitting on my Mech, and what I want to do is to have control over the -sackbot-, and as I'm controlling the sackbot, I'd have control over the Mech's features through it's own controllinator; Is that possible? To control a sackbot while the sackbot is already controlling something? Note: What I'm thinking is I could put an idle sackbot on the Mech's controllinator, and have my 'follower's' controllinator be the transmiter, while the mech would be the reciever. That should work, maybe. But what I want to do is to have control over the sackbot's motions as well. The way my mech is built, it shows the player controlling it, and I'd want it so it'd feel like it's not a sackbot what's on the Mech, but the player with a costume. | 2011-03-17 01:42:00 Author: MonarioBabii Posts: 128 |
If you place a controllinator that you get in down somewhere and set it to TRANSMITTER with a huge radius and its tag to blue, and place another controllinator on the sackbots chip with Set to RECIEVER and its tag to BLUE, you can then remote control this sackbot moving, jumping, grabbing etc. Now set the tweaks on the sackbots main chip to CAN USE CONTROLLINATOR. now you can make the sackbot get into the seat as if it was you. If you set the controllinator on the sackbots chip to to ENTER AUTOMATICALLY, The sackbot should get in when in radius of the seat. Now, notice on the sackbot chips controllinator, you can wire up the buttons to do different things. so you cound day have square button fire a gun. (Just remember, if you wire up R1 or X you will overnmap his grab and jump function. Hope that helps :-) | 2011-03-17 02:00:00 Author: Sean88 Posts: 662 |
Thanks for your input Sean But I want that sackbot to be sort of -built-in- the robot. Like, make it so the sackbot will be permanently on the mech? Would that work? I'm gonna test it. Maybe once the sackbot gets in the mech the first time, it won't hop off anymore, hopefully. | 2011-03-17 03:02:00 Author: MonarioBabii Posts: 128 |
If the bot is part of the mech (it won't hop off unless you specifically tell it to or disable the controllinator), you don't really need to control it at all. It could just sit in the seat and do nothing and you could control your mech through another controllinator. If you want the bot to move around so it looks like it's actually operating the controllinator, then all you need to do is stick a controllinator on its chip, set it to be a remote receiver, and then set your main controllinator (the one where the player sits) to be a transmitter. You can still hook wires up from the transmitter to the various mech functions, or you could wire the bot's seat to the functions: doesn't really matter which 'cuz either will be active when you're using it. You could even wire the controllinator on the bot's circuit board to the mech's functions, though I can't imagine why you'd want to. Controllinators are actually pretty darn versatile. | 2011-03-17 04:08:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

Maybe once the sackbot gets in the mech the first time, it won't hop off anymore, hopefully. Good advice Sehven. I know how you can fix the problem perfectly If you place the sackbot immediatly beside of the controllinator seat you want him to sit in.and set the seat to AUTOMATICALLY ENTER, Make the seats radius just enough to engulf the sackbot (not the player) and on the sackbots basic chip set CAN USE CONTROLLINATOR, it will work perfectly. and as soon as the game begins he will enter the seat and stay there. (set this controllinators to REMOTE CONTROL-NO) So the sackbot will sit in it but thats all. Now, place 2 controllinator seats down both with the Blue tag. The one you sit in to control things is set to TRANSMITTER BLUE TAG, and place the other on the sackbots base chip (This will be set to RECIEVER BLUE TAG). Now the controlls for the meck will wire off the controllinator RECIVER BLUE TAG in the sackbots chip. If you dont wire up the Ejuect player, the sackbot can never leave the seat. Lets know if that works mate :-) | 2011-03-17 05:03:00 Author: Sean88 Posts: 662 |
Thanks a bunch to you two, it works great The usual/average/normal way to control a sackbot is indeed the only thing you need to have it look like it's controlling something as well, which is awesome. I had a few issues here and there, and at the beginning as well, but those were all my fault Including when you press the Triangle and you hop off the mech, I sort of forgot to change those settings so you hop off the follower >_> and then things like when the follower is set to follow at a high speed, and given the up and down motion my mech does when it walks, your camera sort of chops up and down, instead of a fluid motion. But again, that's fixed by tweaking the follower's speed. Thanks again I might record a video of it and upload it somewhere Edit: Oh by the way, Sehven. I tried your Star Wars battles level, and it's super fun Way to go! Though once I got the sabers as prizes and rezzed them in my moon, I went like O_O at those tags. Pretty crazy! | 2011-03-17 05:09:00 Author: MonarioBabii Posts: 128 |
Lol, it's 3am here in dublin, so my brain is drifting and cant spell hehe 'Now the controls or the mech will wire off the controllinator RECEIVER BLUE TAG. Eject player' :-D hehe. Glad to help you buddy. I'm sean88 on the game community too, if you ever need advice in game :-) Oh, something that may be useful. 1. If you need to wire up the eject, or unwire it. You can drag a connector from the button you want off the circuit board and actually connect it to the input on the base oif the seat itself. ( if you tweak on a buttons output connector part, you can change thje prompt that is displayed for that button in game. 2. If you place a seat you get in as a transmitter ( blue tag), any seat with a receiver blue tag can be controlled by the transmitter blue tag seat- so you can control multiple seats at once and have each do different things at once. | 2011-03-17 05:12:00 Author: Sean88 Posts: 662 |
One thing to keep in mind is whether you'd want your level be multiplayer-ready and whether another player than a predesignated one can hop in his sackbot and control the mech. Right now, you are hardwiring your mech to one particular user. For that, you'd have to wire all controls from the Controlinator (DCS) that is the driver's seat and not set it to Receiver (just to Normal). Instead, each player would now control their own sackbot (set to be able to use DCS); a bot would then hop into the driver's seat and he would be able to use it just as if a player would be in the seat; because any player's bot can now jump in, the mech becomes available to all players. Of course, this only matters if you decide it does. | 2011-03-17 12:17:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
