Wooden Bouncejump

Hi!

This is just a wooden platformer that I made. There's some unique ideas and I hope it's a fun platformer. Thanks for any feedback!

Hey,

i played your level a few minutes ago and i have to say it's very good!
You have some good ideas and everything looks great.
It also runs smoothly

There are some little things you could work on:
- the part where you bounce into the pipe: Had some problems there, i couldnt jump into the pipe several times because something seemed to block my way
- in the section with the green and red gauge where you have to reach the switch: I was able to grab the switch with the grappling hook and climb up on the left side, so i didnt have to go to the right at first
- parts of the scoreboard are hidden due to the building material in front of it

I hope that i was able to help you, thanks for the great level you created there

Like to hear some feedback on my Madera level (sig) please

i loved the concept! i thought the obsticals were very clever. the only flaw to me was that the music was a bit repetitive. but that doesnt matter. lol.2011-03-15 01:03:00

hey, just checked out your level. very clean, very tight, very fun.
I like the pace, the attitude and the use of the grappling hook ^^.

I grabbed every point bubble!... except the second column at the end (which kinda sucked, but not really)

The only thing i noticed is that the jump near the red light green light danger pads to the far ledge is kinda far for moving two layers... not that i didn't make it, but you may consider making the layer gap only one somehow.

Sorry I didn't find much more, but that's good, your level is very tidy ^^d

F4F in the sig.

Great job with this, simple puzzles are often the best and I enjoyed every second of it. The only thing you may want to adjust - when you had to use the controlinator to hit 2 switches, the left switch was obscured by the score counter. A simple camera tweak would fix this.

Cracking stuff

I like your choice in materials. The decor is good, music is nice. So far everything is running smoothly. THe checkpoints look a little out of place, maybe you could add some decorations or stickers to them to make them blend in with the level good. The pipe going through the wall that you couldnt see with the bouncepads to send you through was cool, and didnt give me any issues. Controlinator to activate those switches was really neat. and the sackbot to use the switch was cool too. The bouncepads were fun. I really enjoyed this level. Great Job. If you do F4F pick a level from my sig. I think youve done one of them but im not sure if youve done them both or not. If you have dont worry about it i guess. 2011-03-16 15:53:00

Hey creator22,

I had a go with your level, and it definitely reminded me of Tower of Whoop. So, in short: professional, entertaining, and bug-free.

I second DragonHunter's comment about the scoreboard -- I couldn't see the tens digit of my ranking because of obscuring material! Also, I (think I remember seeing) a row of three Enhancement Removers. I think they work on all three planes, so you only need one (and the others are clutter). Also, I believe there was a spot where I had to plane-change during a grapple jump to the right, and that was very counter-intuitive (I thought I'd remember better where it was by the time I wrote this, but I don't, so I will have to go back and check for you).

Otherwise, the decor was thematically tight and jibed with the music and the level of difficulty. I really liked the one or two controlinator sections and how you included a bit of everything LBP2 has to offer.

Keep on creating!

Thoughts on your level:

Excellent overall. There's a lot of these wooden-scenery platformers out there, so you need to do something special to stand out, and I think yours works largely because of the point distribution. The placement of point bubbles is an underappreciated art in LBP as far as I'm concerned, and you did it brilliantly. The scenery was consistent and artistic, and my favourite section was with the two rotating sponge arms - great camera angle, and once again, the point bubbles added another dimension to it.

Few things let it down though - for me, the controlinator sections felt tacted on and out of character with the rest of the level. Like others have said, the end scoreboard is obscured. And as I was saying earlier, the scenery is both a blessing and a curse - on the plus side it looks great, on the downside it's already been done many times by the community already.

Overall, however, a very enjoyable and accomplished level!

Can you check out my sig level for F4F? Many thanks

Hello there!

Your level was a fun little platformer. LBP is platforming at its core, so it's nice to step away from the fancy doodads, pinball machines, doohickeys, and zombie survival arenas that come with all of LBP2's new tools to come back and enjoy the tasty tidbits of platforming goodness. The only constructive criticism I can give you is to perhaps work on the visuals a bit. Though your level was fun, it didn't look overly compelling. That isn't to say it looked bad--oh no, not at all. It just seemed like it could be a bit better looking.

F4F: Please play, rate, and leave feedback for the following level in its thread. Thank you!

Great platformer! I liked a lot of the elements you have in there. This is a good solid level. I agree with one of the early comments regarding the back layer to front layer jump after the green and red indicators. This jump was difficult to make...not so diffucult that it was frustrating (for me!). This was really the only gripe I have about the gameplay. Good job.
